[As the Gear turns on, there's a loud rustling and scratching of claws against the ground. Not a whole lot of light, it's late after all, just the ambient light from the screen of the Gear itself. Just enough to cast a little light on Estinien's face, eyes open and lying on his back staring at the ceiling of his tent in tired resignation.

The scratching and shuffling comes rapidly closer to the camera, and a large shadow passes over--for those with quick eyes, it's the belly of a Perrserker, which is bouncing around the tent like a godsdamned maniac.

It's 3 AM. Cat's got the zoomies.

This has happened every night for the past two weeks.

Estinien grunts as the manic metal cat uses his stomach as a springboard to launch itself out of the tent, there's a yelp outside and for a split second the inside of the tent takes a reddish-orange cast as his Ninetales breathes fire at said crazy cat just outside. The crashing noises get distant for a little bit, but just as Estinien is sitting up to get his Gear and turn it off, he's knocked back flat on his back by the Return of the Cat, satisfied with its early, early morning chaos, and settling directly on his chest while making the most horrid noise.

Estinien just sighs as deeply as one possibly can with a 60 pound cat weighing you down.]

Truly, are you going to do this every night?

[He frowns and turns off the Gear. Goodnight everybody!]

[Cecil looks so awake and happy at this ungodly hour, it's almost offensive.]

Cats are much like toddlers. You need to wear them out during the day, if you wish to sleep undisturbed.

[He's had a toddler and he has a cat, he knows what he's talking about.]

It's honestly not long before he would have woken up himself, though looking happy about it might be asking a bit much.]

It spends all day chewing on things it ought not to and terrorizing the wildlife, I'd think it would have enough stimulation after all that.

But has it had plenty of time, and a reason for that matter, to run to its heart's content? Since it seems to enjoy that activity so much.

I certainly do not confine him during the daylight hours. Though I am not sure what reason the beast possesses at all.

[He knows what you mean, but you have not seen this damn cat just...vacant-eyed, chewing on a rock. It's slightly concerning.]

[Which is why his next suggestion is most certainly not based on his parenting experience.]

[He sighs softly, massaging the bridge of his nose.]

Not that I have with me at the moment. An oversight, perhaps.

[He gingerly pushes the cat off him so he can sit upright, it grumbles but otherwise goes and shuffles off to do inscrutable Cat Activities. Soon after, his fire-type Ninetales joins him inside rather than risk getting a tail trod on again.]

One easy enough to fix the next time you visit a Pokémon Center, thankfully. Is your cat usually so active at night?

[Surely not, or that oversight would become foolishness. Offscreen, something thumps some distance away, but he ignores it.]

[The video opens to what looks like a hotel room - so already doing better than Estinien on that basis alone. What unites the two scenes, however, is that the Perrserker's zoomies seem to have gotten the attention of another Pokemon.]

[A Rattata.]

[He starts smacking his little paws against the screen excitedly, chittering with just as much energy. Behind him, there's the lump of a person doing their absolute best to sleep with a Munna on their head... but the Rattata doesn't care.]

[There aren't usually hotels in the middle of the wilderness! He likes camping so that completely isn't his problem.

It's also honestly not that long until he would have woken up on his own, so when the gear turns back on to Mythril's Cheshire grin, Estinien has already gotten up and taken himself outside to clean up and restart the fire.]

Prrt?

[You know that thing that cats do when they see something moving, how their eyes go O_O? That's happening right now.]

[Hell. Yes. Gremlin the Rattata raises his little rat hands in victory before he starts chittering instructions. Because listen. Listen. He knows the zoomie feel. But he has a solution.]

[Bold of you to assume this cat knows how to work technology. He pokes at the gear, and grumbles something like 'come out of the talky box and fight me.'

His normal wrassling buddy isn't here and none of Estinien's other team members want to humor him. Tis a tragedy. :(]

[Gremlin makes a despairing rat sound. Noooooo! Well, not to the idea of battling, he'd be fine with that, theoretically, but he can't do that!!! Literally! He is not a Porygon. :( ]

[But he's so boooored at night when everyone else goes to sleep!! His trainer is actually sleeping properly instead of doing twenty minute naps and Gremlin is very happy for him but he has too much energy himself still!!!]

[He'll help a cat learn how to technology but he wants companyyyyy!!]

[There's a bit of a crunching, grinding sound and a shot of the inside of Mythril's mouth as he gets distracted and starts chewing on the Gear.

It's really a good thing they make those so sturdy.

[Is it sentiment? Perhaps, but don't you dare say so to his face. He just doesn't like to be confined himself, so he doesn't inflict it on other things.]

Perhaps. Though I wake early to begin with.

Four to five, merely a bell or two difference. Not enough to matter.

[Normally, Felix spends the hour or so before bed winding down by maintaining and polishing his weapons. Since there are no weapons in this world, he finds himself restless in the evenings on the trip from Violet City to Azalea Town. So, on the advice of a few of his friends (and their Pokemon), Felix has discovered this network thing on the Gear and is bored enough to peruse it. If nothing else, it will give him a sense for what other kinds of people have been brought to this world--and might tell him if someone else they know appears.

He lifts an eyebrow when he sees the...raucous cat. The Espurr perched on his shoulder and the Purrloin peering into the camera from where she sits beside Felix both take just as much of an interest in what's on the screen.]

Your cat is out of control. Doesn't this world have catnip or silvervine?

[Estinien sighs and rubs at his eyes.]

Mayhap it does. Though I am currently between cities, so tis not precisely accessible.

Hm. I don't know whether it would work on Pokemon cats, anyway. Mine have been well-behaved so far...mostly. This one-- [He gestures with his chin toward the Purrloin, who does her best to look extremely innocent--] keeps stealing things and being a nuisance. But otherwise she's...social.

Maybe you should take yours out to fight wild Pokemon until it tires itself out.

[He got left with a level 100 demon and he's in an area where everything is weaker than it.]

It was content enough when with its original trainer, though it also play-fought with one of his others.

It needs an outlet for all that energy so it'll tire out before you try to sleep. Go challenge a gym or something?

I was traveling with his trainer for some time, twas no issue before.

[Plus, he's sort of pinned down by said cat lying on him and purring, so...]

He has been thoroughly trained--the beasts around here prove no challenge at all.
