Backdated to Feb 14th - Shark House V-Day Log
Who: Shark House Residents
Where: Goldenrod/the house
When: Valentine's Day
Summary: Magic candy has been brought into the house
Rating: Possibly PG-13 for language
Log:
It shouldn't be any surprise that, like the years before, Lust makes sure the house has plenty of holiday candy. Including some of that new holiday-themed candy imported all the way from wherever the hell it was. How could she not pick up plenty? Half the point of the holiday, as far as she's concerned, is the sweets. And near everyone in the house loved their sweets.
This isn't even the big candy haul, that comes tomorrow, when she and Henry descend upon the grocers and department stores in a tactical pattern, covering the whole city's post-holiday sales. But she's set out truffles and cookies and things such as that in little red and pink bowls, because it is the holiday proper. Of course, as always, everyone in the house is welcome to help themselves.
Lust already has been, as she makes an effort to tidy up the kitchen for the day, dipping into whatever is closest at hand.
Including the seemingly innocent candy shipped in from the Cerulean Cape.

A lot of sweets.
It's a nice day and he's off work so Henry can be found outside watching the sharks or sitting on the sofa with a handful of colorful candies, munching away like a Tauros on the great prairie.

Though what in the world is he doing outside? Really, Lust knows she shouldn't wonder, it's Henry. If anyone's going to sit out in winter and shark watch, it's him. He's such a unique man, possessed of a fascinating mind beneath the vague facade. He's probably perfectly content out there. Still...he looks cold to her. So she pours a mug of coffee and sweetens it with a flavored cream and slips out into the backyard with a heavy blanket wrapped around herself.
She really does hate the cold.
"Here. You look like you could use this."
no subject
"Frhm?"
He speaks around a mouthful and when he sees the hot coffee that's apparently intended for him, Henry has An Emotion. A lot of An Emotion. She made that just for him! Because his dumb smoke-starved ass looked cold! Henry swallows the half-chewed audibly so that he can reach out to take the mug with both hands.
"Thank you, Lust." He really really means it. In fact, his usual blank expression suggests that Lust just offerend to donate a kidney to him or something. "Lust, I'm so sorry I said all that stuff about your Jigglypuff. She's great. You're great."
no subject
"Chanteuse never takes it personally, and god knows she delights in tormenting you. It's so cruel really, you're such a sweet and special man. I think she's only jealous because you're such an organically creative creature."
Because even under the effects of the holiday candy, she's far more comfortable deflecting to the bit about her Jigglypuff rather than commenting on anything said about her.

Either way it's nice out and he walks over to Henry.
"Enjoying the weather?"
no subject
"Oh, hey Harry."
It's then that Henry is overcome with. Something. Gratitude that Harry has returned to them and seems no worse for wear for, you know, a dead guy. Anxiety about what that might mean, with Walter here and all. And a weird sort of longing. He's been away from his own family for almost a decade now and he's having trouble remembering the small details of their faces. Sometimes he thinks he catches sight of his cousin in the crowds of Goldenrod or overhears his mother's voice at the Pokemon Center when someone is chiding their Pokemon for eating something it shouldn't be.
Harry was proud of him. He could feel it and he wanted nothing more than that in that moment.
"I-it's. Fine. It's fine."
no subject
"Are you alright? You're not catching a cold are you?"
Harry is totally proud of you and also worried because your his kid now.

From above.
On the roof, to be exact, which is exactly where an Envy filled with Even More Intense Emotions naturally gravitates.
"HENRY."
Envy already appears to be looking to shimmy down the nearest climbable tree...luckily there are several. At least he's not jumping off the roof, but he is feeling the best friend is here vibes REAL STRONG and he has to get down in the direction his buddy is in! Stopping every so often to shout through his cupped hands with...really weird intensity, even for him.
"HENRY YOU'RE GREAT! I'M COMING DOWN. LET'S GET ARRESTED."
no subject
But then as Envy reaches him, he makes the proposition. Henry's dozy expression sharpens. Yes. Yes. Envy knew how to have fun. Envy let him experience things he sorely missed out on growing up. JUST GUYS BEING DUDES.
In an unexpected rush of affection, Henry slings out a long horrible spaghetti arm and snags Envy around the head, then promptly buries his knuckles into it.
"LETS FUCKING GET ARRESTED!"
no subject
Normally, Envy would react to a surprise noogie with screeching indignation, but today? NO. Today, he just laughs and tries to wriggle out of Henry's grip, because he's just so happy that he has such a good friend. He never used to have friends, and here's one of his best ones right here! Someone who knows things about him and what he is and didn't run away screaming!
"LET'S GO DO SOMETHING ILLEGAL!"
He finally tugs his head loose, and then in an uncharacteristic display of affection of his own, slings his own arm around Henry's shoulders. Minus the headlock.
"Come on, we've gotta do something good! It's been ages!"
Making a Splash
KER-SPLASH!
The pool's surface swelled from the impact and the sharks let out grumbles of surprise and panic as they were nearly beached. Maurice fell off of Harley's back and sank to the bottom in a column of bubbles while the Gogoat paddled forward, managed to reach the edge, and keep on going. He must find his love! That fat fat Pidove!
With a spluttering cough, Maurice surfaced amongst the leaves littering the pool's surface and squinted around in search of his hat. Today sucked.
Making a Splash
"Uh....I don't to alarm you but there are shark pokemon in there."
no subject
Maurice looked up and froze--or froze moreso because he was already in horribly chilly water in early spring. This must be this guy's house!
"Ah! I'm so sorry about--" He and Harley didn't actually break anything now that he thought about it. "--being here!"
And wait. Waaaaait. Wait. Maurice mentally rewound what Harry said and looked around him. Sure enough, there was a small school of concerned Sharpedo eyeing him. In a Olympic display of agility, Maurice was out of the water and on the patio in an instant, dripping and shivering.
His hat floated across the surface and one of the pool sharks gently swam under it and surfaced so that he was wearing it.
"Oh..."
no subject
Yeah it's a stranger that fell into the pool, but still. Priorities.

There was no way he was going to turn down the candy Lust had brought home, and now...now things are getting into that "beyond".
Envy can be found a number of places, most of them outside where he can get out more of this energy: up on the roof, in a tree, waving both middle fingers across the street at their most annoying neighbors' houses....
Either way, whenever anyone finds him, they're going to have a time because his ability to put on a show of indifference has gone flying clear out the window.
[LOCKED FOR GODZILLA]
Envy's not the only one who's eaten some of the candy--no way he wasn't going to toss a few pieces to his best partner Chimera. More than a few, really; one chocolate to a Tyranitar is barely anything at all. No, Chimera ate a handful.
Envy had paid a lot of attention to him after all that candy--there had been belly rubs and hugs and all kinds of over the top, uncharacteristic affection from his trainer which had been GREAT, but after a while Envy had left. Probably to yell at the neighbors.
But that's left him in the middle of the yard wondering what to do now--he's feeling all kinds of things from the candy, but what to do with all of that? Hmmm.
Actually, he knows just who he wants to go and find to share all these nice feelings with. He's off to search for a certain blue Feraligatr.
no subject
Despite her words, Lust's tone is...surprisingly warm and indulgent. As is her expression. Because really, if Envy wasn't taunting the neighbors and otherwise being a mischievous scamp, he wouldn't be Envy. And that would be a tragedy, as far as she's concerned.
But it's also her duty, as his sister, to tease him and prod at him over silly things. And it's exceptionally strong and at the forefront of her mind right now, the fact that he is her brother.
no subject
This is shouted across the street with passion, but as soon as he turns around to actually look at Lust the expression fades quickly into an amused, also warmer than usual grin. How could he possibly feel like screaming at their annoying neighbors when his little sister is here?
Not that she minds him doing that, clearly, but that was what was so great about her, that she'd known him back then and knew him now and was used to his moods enough that she found them amusing. She got him, in that way at least.
"Or we could always pick it all up and dump it back in their yard instead. In the night."
Because she'll think that's as funny an idea as he does.
no subject
"Just what they put on our yard?" She knows Envy better than that. She folds her arms and leans casually against the property fence, still looking up at her brother.
"Here, come down from there. Let's...I don't know. Do something."
She doesn't know what, it's not about that. She just very much wants to spend some quality time with Envy. She knows it hasn't been, at all, but it feels like they haven't had any in ages. And the bond they have...it's special. They don't have the same with anyone else here, how could they? They'd been family before they came to this place, even if they hadn't understood it back then. Not just because of what they are, or part of the same group, but because of what affection they'd held for one another.
"Something slightly more rewarding than verbally berating the neighborhood."

let us see how this goes
However he stops and looks up, still a bit curious.
"Find something interesting in the tree?"
WE'LL SEE
And Envy has had entirely too much of that candy. Maybe not as much as Henry, but plenty.
Honestly, he's been behaving pretty well around Harry so far. Keeping the PDA with his daughter to a minimum, not making a lot of jokes about murder, keeping his delinquent tendencies on the downlow...but most importantly, not letting on how weird it feels to have any kind of father figure around the house. And definitely not letting on about the pangs of jealousy that have roiled up in his stomach a few times when he sees just how good of a father he is, how he and Heather can share affection and interact in a way that...well. That was never an option for him. But that maybe he could have had, if his bastard of a father had been more like Harry was.
Dante gave him his name for a reason.
But today, looking down out of the tree, those feelings are harder to push down than ever, all of that awkwardness and jealousy flaring right up at once.
"It's just a nice tree, that's all. I like being up here."
But at the same time, he wants to go down, to interact more with Harry, because there's curiosity too. So down he comes, climbing down the tree with ease...and behaving almost like a cat who's interested in attention but also is deeply unsure about whether to go get it or not.
no subject
"I understand."
He knows Heather does that a lot as well. Harry meanwhile tended to hole himself up in his room.
"If you want to be alone, I can leave. I didn't mean to disturb you."

FIRST THREAD
The fact that out of all the candy brought home, Heather somehow managed to avoid the cursed bags and instead has mostly been eating out of a bag of those cheap cherry lollipops that the PokeMarts put out en masse every year.
So when Heather spots Envy in the tree outside and leans out the window, it is entirely within her normal emotional levels that she yells, "HEY ENVY! Check out how red my tongue is!"
no subject
And it's a hell of a strong one--he can't even hope to control his expression as it morphs into one of the goofiest, most lovestruck grins that has ever graced his face. He laughs and starts scooting his way across the branches to get closer to the window, because oh boy he absolutely wants to go right over to her!
"It's SO RED! Hang on a second, I'm gonna come through the window."

SECOND THREAD
One of the reasons Heather hadn't been eating the chocolate is because a certain Feraligatr was having a particularly emotional night (not uncommon-- but frequently marked by larger-than-normal amounts of food disappearing from the fridge and mysterious charges on Heather's PokeGear on reality TV show rentals).
He's a Feraligatr.
He eats a lot.
And he is currently laying in the shallow end of the swimming pool, with an empty candy bag floating in the water next to him.
no subject
And as soon as he does find him, Chimera's big dino heart starts thumping away--he's suddenly not feeling very calm and collected at all. He feels like he could probably just sit and look at Godzilla's deep blue scales glinting in the sun all day, and it's almost tempting to just hang back and do just that, because he's really not sure what to say with all these feelings surging up and threatening to spill out. It's a little scary, feeling like he wouldn't be able to think over his words before he says them.
But stronger than the nerves is the desire to go over and talk to his--very good friend. Yes. That's it.
He approaches, unconsciously making an effort to stand a little taller and hopefully more impressively than usual.
Hello...it's a very nice day today, isn't it?
