2nd Soul | Video/action for Cherrygrove (early morning)
[Ding, hello! It seems like Maka has actually been settling into Johto quite well, gradually getting over herself with regard to Pokemon battling, it helps she's got some enthusiastic ones that joined her while on the journey to the first city.
That's not what today is about, though. It's a little dim when the feed turns on, considering it's the crack of dawn. The picture is focused on a Fomantis and a Cutiefly that look...well frankly, they look quite aggressive, in varying forms of "come at me" intimidation tactics.
The camera turns back to show Maka who, thankfully, looks much cleaner and less like someone ran her over with a "fuck you" truck.]
So...I can't be very sure, but I think these guys are threatening me. I'm just trying to go for a jog and they're--
[The Cutiefly interrupts by full-body bopping Maka on the forehead. It doesn't hurt her, of course, it feels like someone just threw a cotton ball at her.]
Hey, cut that out! You oughta be ashamed of yourself, picking on people for no reason like that! [The Cutiefly balks as if it wasn't expecting to be scolded.] Yeah, you heard me! You're being very rude right now, go home! [Maka focuses back on the camera, looking annoyed.] They're definitely threatening me.
[Later on in the afternoon (video)]
[Yes, it's Maka again, this time it looks like she settled out on a bench with an egg that's very comfily tucked up in blankets. The camera is so steady and still trained on the egg, she must be paying rapt attention to it.]
It moved just now, and I can hear some noises. Call it corny if you want, but I can't believe all these Pokemon just come out of eggs.
[A crack appears in the egg, the girl gasps in delighted surprise.] Here it comes!
[The miracle of life! The egg shakes and cracks some more, culminating into a glowing flash which turns into--!
A rather large and shiny Drampa, half still on the blankets, half off the bench since it's so big.]
Oh gosh. He's huge...and...they're not supposed to be yellow, right? That's like how Kim was pink for some reason. Hm. Oh well, it doesn't matter! [She turns the camera to herself, beaming proudly about this new hatchling.] I'm gonna name him Gandalf!

Aside from that, though--]
No, they aren't at all that...that is, in fact, a shiny Drampa.
[There's a note of excitement in his voice as he says it, the wizard looking quite pleased.]
He's absolutely lovely!

Ah--hi, Mr. Scamander! [And in general she seems to be in better spirits than before. It helps to have a large fluffy dragon leaning over her shoulder to peer into the camera.] You hear that, Gandalf? He says you're shiny, I guess that means something extra special.

It's something of a genetic mutation, at least that's what I assume. Simply a variation in colors. It doesn't seem to affect their moveset or development. Normal colored Drampas are green and white.
Video
[Did you page the nerd? Because he's here. Flipping through his journal. He looks up at the gear though.]
......also....that name is awesome. I think I read something about how there's types that are different colours then the normal variation.

[This is seeming more and more video game-ish to her daily. But then again she likes having Gandalf, somehow she adores the "baby" that she hatched.]
So I guess that means Gandalf is pretty special, besides that he's my Pokemon so he'll always be that to me. [What a dork.] There hasn't been too many good things to read around here besides the handbook I got when starting out, though, that's been frustrating. Like, how am I supposed to learn anything when the information isn't being given, y'know?

[Flipping through the journal]
Well so far, magic and apparently I wrote really advanced science with a lot of question marks after it.....I think I was tired when I wrote that.....
[He was.]
I know! Apparently we have to hunt it down, which okay sounds fun too but still. People have lived here forever you'd think they'd have some sort of internet with information or more books around.
.....but then again most people stop going to school here at age ten so maybe that factors into it.

[One of her friends was literally conceived by magic anyway, it's not a complicated answer to her.]
Holy crap, at ten? That's even before I enrolled at the Academy. There has to be some kind of big library around here, how else would anybody learn a thing that's not about Pokemon battling, right?
no subject
I think there's a school....but it's just for more pokemon training. I'm honestly not sure how people learn things here.
Most large towns have a library in them but I think there's a big one in....
[He looks at some notes.]
Viridian City in Kanto, but I haven't been there yet to see if it's really any better then the local ones.
no subject
Kanto...weird, I swear there's an area called Kanto back in my world, over in Japan. Mom's told me that she has family there. Guess I'll have to wait to get to a big town before I can do any real investigation.
[Or see what they have to offer in entertaining literature.]
no subject
....actually that would be pretty cool.
[He's adding this to his list of weird mysteries, local people don't want to solve, along with the food thing.]
Really? Maybe the name's the same. Or maybe they're somehow linked....
Action
Daine had overheard Maka on the pokegear and trotted over, Diamondhoof and five puppies trailing after her.
"Oh my goodness, look at you, aren't you majestic! What a gorgeous colour. The ladies are just going to love you," Daine praised the Drampa with a wink as four of the Rockruff bounded over to him, circling him and sniffing the dragon pokemon. Play?
The fifth, a larger male, sat down, observing the others.

Gandalf looked around at the little Pokemon, seeming a little bemused though not threatened. Oh, hello, I suppose I'm new here, he rumbled gently, moving himself off the bench to give the humans some room.
"I guess his color is rare? That's what the man who gave me the egg told me, anyway."
no subject
She pets the dragon gently. "You just hatched, so everything is probably pretty new. I'm Daine, and this is your trainer Maka."
The puppies playfully start to climb all over Gandalf since he's so much bigger than they are. "You lot be gentle! He may look bigger than you but he's younger!" she told them, hands on her hips. Her larger male Rockruff, Padfoot, just sits back, observing and taking it all in.
Looking back at Maka, Daine grinned. "We're going to have our work cut out for us with all these babies! It makes sense that pokemon would be different colours, but the significant colour variations like Gandalf seem to be rarer - I mean, look at all these guys," she gestures at the pack of puppies, who are all pretty much the same colour, but with slightly different patterns. "They're all the same shades."

[But she's not going to battle them, oh no, Maka is going to scold them.]
Both of you, how many people have you bullied before me? You should go apologize to them right now!
