[Alex has managed to turn on the gear. It's no radio, thank god. More like a really weird video phone. She's visibly stressed out right now]

Okay, so apparently whoever or whatever runs this place is, they have a sense of humour. I'll give them that. But can I also say? Their sense of humour?....it sucks.

[She points the device over to some sort of creature. It's just sitting there. Being creepy.]

Yeah, whoever you are that brought me here. I looked this thing up. Really funny. The last thing I need in my life right now is more trapped ghosts.

[She looks over at it again and then back to the gear.]

.....these ghosts can't possess people, can they?

[Another quick glance and then turning away from the void of ghosts.]

Okay so if anyone's out there....Ren, Jonas, Nona...hell Clarissa?....um...Micheal? Anyone? If my eyes start glowing red ...or maybe green or purple in this case.... Or it starts to possess people? I just want everyone to know that I didn't actually do anything this time. I just got this thing as sort of the worst welcome gift ever.

To ...wherever this is.

......This isn't still Edwards Island is it? Because this is new.

As far as I know, Spiritomb are not able to possess individuals since they seem to be bound to a particular object. The same cannot be said of other Ghost Pokemon though.

[Newt offer a slightly apologetic smile while, beside him, Nicholas the Gengar sits and happily munches on a poffin.]

Most that I have encountered are easily dealt with, though, and reasoned with. You just have to be patient with them.

[And now the smile disappears and his look is just a straight apologetic one.]

And I'm afraid that this is not the place you mentioned. Edwards Island I think you said. This world isn't the native world for most of us here.

Wait there's more ghosts here? And they can possess people?

[Just....her life. Folds her arms]

Okay...so when you say reasonable....can you talk them out of possessing you.....or?

[Alex actually looks ...thoughtful at the news that she's not where she's supposed to be.]

Huh....well that's new....I guess we'll see how long this one lasts. Um....I don't suppose you know ...how I got here?

Ah--well, yes. Most of them can, actually.

[Insert an apologetic look here.]

I've had quite a bit of luck with making friends with most of the Ghosts I've encountered. They can be quite nice once you get to know them, despite the rather negative press they receive, so to speak.

[Nicholas looks up at that and smiles, nodding. Yes! Not all ghosts are tricksters! A lot of them can be very nice!]

Apparently it has something to do with a Pokemon but I'm afraid I don't know much more than that.

Damn it.

[Give her a moment as she face palms. She's just been through a lot.]

Ugh, figures. Okay sorry. Just a long night.

[She chuckles as though she'd made a joke. Inside joke with herself.]

Right anyway. The ghosts here. They can possess you but a lot of them are nice. Well that's better news at least.

[Think positive. She can do that. She's always done that.]

Does anyone know? It's not that I really want to return to where I was. This is actually a nice break from everything. But I was kinda under the impression that I was somewhere where I'd never be able to leave....so the whole showing up here thing is kinda making me wonder how true that is.

There are quite a few individuals that have been here for several years that probably have far more information on the subject than I do. Many of the questions you have they can answer. [He smiles slightly.] It's..all a bit confusing, to be honest. I'm not entirely sure this place runs by the same laws that most worlds do. If..that makes any sense at all.

[She laughs slightly.]

No that's fine. The last place I was didn't care much for normal rules anyway.

No, this is New Bark specifically, in the region of Johto.

[Hey, there's another teen along with Alex. At this point Xion has at least been able to change out of her Organization jacket and into the change of clothes given to her (some variant on the Alolan Ace Trainer, not that she knows that). She's still holding the jacket she had, though, as her Pokemon--a Wimpod--is curled up on it asleep.

It seems content and she won't disturb it.]

This place really, really isn't that bad when you get used to it.

Honestly I'll be happy...and surprised if I get the chance to get used to it.

But this thing isn't really helping with first impressions, I have to say.

[Pointing over to the swirl of spirits attached to a rock, following her. She is so sick of dealing with trapped ghosts]

Oh. ...That's an uncommon one.

[Gee, Xion, obvious statement much?]

Are you...scared of ghosts? You'll be able to catch more Pokemon down the line, and I promise they're not all ghosts.

I'm in kind of a.....weird situation back home. Not really sure how being brought here will affect it. But, only one way to find out!

[If enough time passes will she snap back to the original time point ...going to the island? Will she snap back to first arriving here? Or maybe....just maybe, being brought here means she isn't in the loop anymore. Honestly it's better odds then she had in the past. She'll take it.]

Scared....nah. More like annoyed at this point. Back home ....long story, but there were a group of ghosts trapped somewhere, that were trying to take over the bodies of my friends and me so they could get out and off the island. So you can see why, surprise here's some more trapped ghosts, might be a little less then welcoming.

On the plus side, it gave me a good idea on what to name them. So this is my....pokemon? The Sunken. Hopefully less prone to body snatching then their namesakes.

I don't exist back in my world anymore, so, I get "weird" situations. Whatever it was, you're not there anymore or beholden to it.

[It's very blunt but her tone is actually reassuring as she says it. A long time ago Xion wouldn't have been so...open about what happened to her with a stranger, now? Who cares, really, nothing can hurt her now.]

Ghost Pokemon don't usually possess people, yeah. They can mimic, and there's rumors that go around some of them used to be actual people who died, but I'm no expert. I think you can find some people that are, though. [If she's inclined to.] The Sunken is a cool name, this is my Wimpod--I named her Zoomba.

[Yep. It's Zoomba.]

She's tuckered out from running around right now, so I'm gonna carry her for a bit. If you need to put away your Pokemon, you can use that red and white ball that came with it to hold it--just point it at Sunken.

Wait.....seriously?

[She pauses for a moment. Arms folded together, you kind of surprised her here.]

I....actually don't know if I exist in my world either. I mean ....I exist...kind of. But I'm also kind of ...trapped in a time loop in another dimension with the ghosts for ....possibly the rest of eternity? I was just lucky I got pulled here before time reset on me and I forgot everything again.

[It's never been something she's been ABLE to explain to people because she always ends up forgetting when it all resets and she doesn't remember how far off the island she gets before that happens.]

Oh, that's really cute.

[That is the best name.]

I'm sorry to hear that. But I guess...it also means we're in the same boat? Nobody even remembers I existed back at home.

[And she means it, sincerely, she wouldn't wish such a horrible fate on anyone. It's interesting to know that tragic things like that also happen to people with hearts, but it's not the topic, and if she asked Riku he would probably say something like "of course it does, silly."]

...I didn't mean to make a pun related to islands with the "boat" thing, I read it in a book once.

[Aaaand there she promptly ruins a moment of sincerity with being a dork.]

It depends on the Pokemon. I don't really like doing it to mine but from what I understand it's very comfortable for them inside, so they're not in pain. If they don't want to be in there, they'll just break out, and...in the end, it's actually the most convenient thing for traveling, especially with a large one like them.

[That makes Alex laugh.]

No, it's a good one. I'm remembering that for later.

....Sorry about you too though. I guess if this place really does toss the script out the window I might actually get to remember things for longer then a night or so.

That's a nice name. I'm Xion. I've been in this world for a couple of years before...well, getting sent away and brought back, so all this stuff isn't new to me. It's way easier when you have help, and I had the benefit of people from my world being here the first time.

[The implication is that since the other girl might not, Xion will be the help there.]

Two of them are still here, Riku and Vanitas. They're kind of like my big brothers.

It's complicated, and Vani in particular will be a jerk about a lot of stuff, but we're more alike than he'd admit.

She knows what that means. Even if Nobodies are beings that shouldn't exist (and she of course being a thing created by beings that shouldn't exist, not even a Nobody) they're fully aware of death. Aware enough to fear it.

Her look is sympathetic, but she won't harp on about it with the "I'm so sorry for your loss" diatribes. Instead Xion sort of tilts her head and comes out with the first thing she can think to ask.]

Um...what's a stepbrother?

[She nods. She and her brother had been best friends, but she knows not everyone had the same sort of relationship and complicated means a whole lot of things.]

Stepbrother? Oh, um my parents got a divorce after....well after my brother Micheal died.

[And yet she was still calling his name when she talked to the gear. Like she might have gotten a response.]

My stepbrother's name is Jonas. My mom married his dad. So he's my brother but we have different birth parents. His dad is my stepdad and my mom is his stepmom.

.....He's a good guy. I only got to know him for a night but ....yeah, he's a good guy.

[And then the same night over and over again for the "first" time and she does keep messing with the timeline so that they're not family anymore at the end but that's ...complicated. Jonas really is a brother to her but she can't NOT just bring Micheal back if she has the chance. She wouldn't be her if she didn't.]

[Well. She knows "married"--most of the time parents "mom and dad" are married, sometimes not. From what she read it's straightforward enough. Death is straightforward.

Divorce is not something she read about, and it plainly trips her up.]

So they just...stopped being married, and your mom married someone else?

They don't share parents, not by a long shot, she and Vanitas share some parts of a heart, but that wouldn't mean anything in a legal sense. How would one go about explaining that to a person born with a heart anyway?] I see. Well...I don't want to get your hopes up, but death doesn't mean a whole lot here, so your brother and your stepbrother could show up and you'd all live in this world together. If you wanted. I'm not sure if that'd be awkward or not.

Yeah, that's what divorce is. It's like hey this isn't working out let's go sign some more papers that annul the last ones we signed.

[It's just a thing that happened and she's just glad her parents aren't fighting anymore. Those were bad days.]

......honestly that would be something I'd want more then anything. I'd bring all of my friends from the island here if I could. Just to see them when we're not in that same night.

[She shrugs slight.]

But I'm an optimist not a....well let's say even my hope has limits these days.

I'm not on the island, that's....more then I thought would ever happen, so I'll take it.

Yeah so far I've only talked to some nice people who explained stuff to me. Which is great, wouldn't want to be trapped in a new world with a bunch of jerks :P

ive never heard of ghosts possessing people
mostly they just talk to you about their ghostly woes or try to give you some ghostly advice

maybe ghosts are just made of different stuff wherever youre from? X:)

i have not been here long aleX but i couldnt really tell you how long ive been here in human measurement of time X:( it just Xed my mind that i never really asked anyone what are normal units of time for humans

Maybe, they're complicated so it would make sense.

[Honestly ghosts, people thrown into another dimension at the time of their death or if that even killed them, the Sunken were complicated without forgetting them every time she reset. And she didn't even want to think of what that made her.]

Okay then. Um....do you know a day. Like 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day?

Okay so to start, there are 12 months in a year.

ok! and what are months made of?

and for my own references one day and night cycle is a day right?

Right!

So that's when the days come in. A month will have generally 30 days but sometimes 31 or in February it'll have 28. The calendar feature should show you which month has which days. Right now we're in April, so there'll be 30 days.

And a day is a night and day cycle that are 24 hours long. And each hour is 60 minutes.

This would be a lot easier if we had a clock with a second hand. See the amount of time it takes the second hand to go around the clock is a minute. 60 of those is an hour, and then we're back into how long a day is.

No problem. Math is overrated. And from now on you can use the calendar to keep track. This place is weird but the gear seems pretty useful.

i didnt understand the calendars here X:C and i wasnt sure if keeping track of these uhh days would count for anything considering this time keeping is way faster than im used to X:)

like i have had to get used to so much but thats all part of the adventure yaknow!!

It helps to know what day it is. Just for planning stuff and when the weather changes. Just send me a text if you get confused or something.

Yeah it seems like the sort of place you'd have to get used to....but so far, in a good way.
