Old Man Battle

Who: Jack and Ford

Where: Olivine

When: May 23rd

Summary: Old men fighting.

Rating: PG-13 for mild violence

Log:

[Handsome Jack is not doing well.]

[He's honestly not even sure how he ended up in Olivine. When the hell was he here last? There was the heist in Goldenrod, and then...bars. Vague memories of bars. How much time has passed? He's obviously getting better at drinking binges, though, he at least woke up in a hotel. In the lobby on a couch, but still.]

[Currently, he's scrambling to get back on track. He's done nothing for much longer than he ought to. But hey, he deserves it. He lost his daughter and his husband, right after the other, and what's left of his family seems to be avoiding him because nobody wants to deal with him when he's all messed up with grief.]

[Assholes. So what if he's unreasonable? So what if he's lashing out and treating everybody like shit? That's what you do, you put up with it. That's caring about somebody. Even Felix...]

[Ugh. Jack doesn't want to think about Felix right now. He misses the guy in ways he wasn't expecting. It hurts. He feels like he lost some vital part of himself and he doesn't know how to get it back.]

[But he's got to get to back to business. He hasn't turned anything in in longer than he's comfortable with, he's got a reputation to maintain. He's also uncomfortably sober. So he's skulking around the beach, Rocket uniform under his clothes and mask and wig in his bag, sipping a coffee and looking for a likely target....]

[And, right on cue, a likely target presents itself. Ford is down on the beach because that's where he's been pretty must near-constantly since he arrived in Olivine. He's been throwing himself with renewed vigor into training since the double-whammy of losing Mabel and, practically just today, Fiddleford. Training is uncomplicated. It's the best distraction he has because as a man of seventy-one who's bad at talking about his emotions on a good day he has no idea how to tackle what he's feeling in any sort of productive way. It's easier to push it back and focus on something else.

The Mareanie he picked up in Sevii is with him. He's set up some rocks and shells along the top of a piece of driftwood and is having her snipe them off with Spike Cannon. It never hurts to practice speed and accuracy.]

Very good, Medusa. Now see if you can hit them from further away.
