Who: Egon and OPEN

When: June 1st-5th
Summary: He's a new arrival! There's a new breeder in town and he is confused but excited about things
Rating: Solid PG
Log:
Route 29/Cherrygrove
It's a shock coming to in the room of... a child, it appears, in his day clothes. The last he recalled, he'd gone to bed comfortable in his own place in the firehouse. Before he really has time to question things, he's hustled out of the house by a woman that appears to be close to his own age. There's the map, his clothes, his lunch, the... guide to pokemon breeding.
Only after he was out, with the job of moving on, that he noticed the pokeball that had been at his bedside, quite unlike the others. Okay, open it, and out comes what he will quickly learn from his pokegear is a solosis. It's green, slimy, it floats around and make cute noises. This is basically an upgraded Slimer, and it already likes him. Well, good, okay. It also doesn't talk, or drip- he likes this thing right back. He will call you Squashy, and you are his.
So with Squashy at his side, reading closely through his guides and notebooks as he begins to walk towards the nearest city, a three day trek to find out more about these creatures and why he's here suddenly. The air is clean, the breeze smells of sea salt and flowers, a nearby ocean- it's refreshing, compared to home. It's not the environment he's used to- camping is hard, and he learns that fast.
Two nights isn't so bad, at least it's warm, and his sleeping bag is comfortable. His new clothes aren't so bad either, tying the bandana over his hair and wearing a variety of bags- side satchels, pockets on his apron, the backpack- that are mostly empty once he eats all the vegetables, dried fish, and rice balls from his bento box and the bag of trail mix is almost all gone, and his notebook is almost full, as he packs up to sleep one last night outside the city limits before going to find himself a place to stay in Cherrygrove proper the next morning.
Until he's halfway through unbuttoning his shirt to lay down off the path and sees a large- no, MASSIVE- spider moving right into his sleeping bag. Now, there was almost nothing Egon feared. Not even death. But spiders bothered him, to an extant. Something about the empty eyes and so many limbs with very little intelligence behind them. This thing? It had to be almost twenty pounds, for god's sake. When he tries to kick the spinarak away, he just gets hissed at. It may as well have been using Roar, because he is out of there. Dr. Egon Spengler and Squashy are running full speed from a pursuing spinarak in the dark, he's bound to collide with someone.
And he does, hard. The new arrival goes rolling, holding his head for a moment and glancing up at whoever he just ran head-on into- and beginning to stammer out an apology before he spots the spider again as it goes to climb up over his tennis shoe. Halfway through "I'm sorry-" the 6'6", almost thirty-year-old man screams.

The hell? Watch where you're going, would you?
[Rubbing his head, and with Pointy glancing at the man curiously from behind his legs, he pauses to see what the fuss is all about. Ah. It's... a spider.]
Huh.
[He gestures for Pointy to attack.]
Use Pursuit.
[The scorpion pokemon attacks the spider, and now there's a full-on pokemon battle happening right on Egon's foot. After they trade a few attacks, and the Spinarak seems weakened, Boone pulls out an empty pokeball and throws it.
The ball rolls three times, and then clicks shut. Boone steps over Egon and picks up the ball, pleased.]
There, it's gone now.
[Now please stop screaming.]
no subject
[He looks back up at Boone, brushing hair out of his face and panting a little.]
...Thank you.
What the hell was that?
no subject
[He pulls out his gear and taps on a few things.]
...A Spinarak, apparently. Never seen one before now.
[He shrugs.]
Take it you just got here?
no subject
[He's... embarassed. Egon picks himself up and straightens the collar of his ruffled button-up shirt. Squashy nudges himself against him and the blonde snorts softly, patting its head tiredly.]
I arrived a few days ago, I've been making my way to Cherrygrove.
[Why don't they have cars here.]
I didn't know there were giant spiders here..
no subject
Didn't know that either. Gonna assume you're scared of them.
[Y'know, with the way Egon screamed and ran from it.]
There's probably gonna be more, but I don't think it would've hurt you. Besides, you can always make your... green thing fight them for you.
[He does not know what kind of pokemon Squashy is.]
no subject
I don't like spiders, much less large ones.
I haven't gotten into any battles yet.
[He doesn't exactly know how to go about it, though now he's been up close and personal with the process.]
Are you local?
no subject
[Pointy is looking up at Squashy curiously, making little clicking noises.]
I only got here a couple of weeks ago, so no. Still learning my way around. Nobody's explained anything to you yet?
no subject
I've only heard a little, I've read the guides I arrived with.
[He should probably walk back to his bags and camp, but for now, it's good to meet someone else new.]
But I haven't tried any battling, or breeding as of yet. I'd like to be a little more established first. And see if I can go home.
no subject
[Look, it's a heavy-looking book and Boone isn't much of a reader.]
Well, you can't go home. Already asked around. There's people who have been here years. Some people disappear, but it's not something you can control.
no subject
[The older man scowls, waving for Boone to follow as he goes back to his little camp. He's not going to be doing much sleeping tonight.]
They need me back in New York.
no subject
[He follows, with Pointy happily skittering along behind him.]
Just gonna have to get used to this place, I guess.
no subject
[But he could stand to study this world while he wad here.]
...I guess.
I've apparently been assigned the job of breeder, so I should start studying.
no subject
[Well, that's kind of a lie. He has to know about move types and what's strong or weak against what. Still, since he got that information from talking to people rather than reading it in a book, it didn't feel much like studying.]
I'm heading for town. You going that way too?
no subject
[He quickly rolls up his pajamas and sleeping bag, hiking it up on his back.]
You're living in Cherrygrove?
no subject
[Which means more days of travelling, but he doesn't mind. He likes it.]
no subject
[Traveling will be nicer when he's more equipped. One lunch and some trail mix doesn't go far on a three-day hike.]
And grt some supplies in Cherrygrove, I suppose. Catch more Pokemon and see about this breeding business.
[Get comfortable, he means.]
no subject
[He gestures to his Skorupi.]
This is Pointy.
[The pokemon wiggles his tail in greeting.]
That Spinarak I just caught is my sixth pokemon, and I've only been here a few weeks. They pile up quickly. Speaking of which, any idea what I should name it?
no subject
[Well, they follow similar naming conventions. He shrugs and nods, beginning yo trail behind the trainer and thinking.]
Goblin.
What's your name?
no subject
Sure, Goblin it is.
I'm Boone. You?
no subject
[He sticks out a hand to shake idly, glancing at Boone's variety of pokeballs.]
It's nice to meet you.
no subject
You too. Can show you the pokemon I've caught, if you want.
no subject
What species is pointy?
no subject
[He pulls out a pokeball and Mareep comes out, bleating in slight confusion.]
And this one's a Mareep. Hatched her from an egg someone gave me.
no subject
Mareep, and all pokemon hatch from eggs.
What typing?
no subject
[He learned that lesson pretty damn fast. He takes out another ball, and out comes Skitty. Yes, half of his pokemon are adorable.]
And here's a Skitty. Her name is Mittens.
[Said very seriously.]
no subject
She's very cute.
no subject
[He then lets out Magikarp, who... uselessly flops about on the ground.]
That's a Magikarp. They're kind of useless in battle.
[He's still grown attached to it just like his other pokemon, though.]
no subject
Right, outside of water I'd think so.
It's not going to dry up, right?
no subject
[He shrugs, bringing Magikarp back.]
No, he's fine. Mostly keep him in the water just incase, but he seems fine out of it, too.
[And for his last pokemon, he sends out his Pidgey.]
You've probably seen these flying around already, but just incase you haven't.
no subject
[The nephilim kneels and watches the bird before he finally stands and nods.]
Right, I've seen plenty of those.
It looks like I've really got a lot of catching up to do, with these.
I should probably have done some training on the way here, I suppose. But I was eager to get to the city and find out more.
no subject
[Boone: actually a big softie.]
Plenty of time for training. Don't have to rush.
no subject
I suppose.
Where are you headed after this?
no subject
[And he'll be training his pokemon along the way.]
no subject
I need to pick up some supplies before I move on, but I may be heading that way. I need a lot more food.
[For himself and for squashy.]
...Need a traveling partner?
no subject
[Honestly, it gets a bit boring with nobody around to talk to. Skorupi can't exactly talk back.]
I spend a lot of time training my pokemon, though. We might take a little longer than expected to get where we're going. That okay with you?
no subject
I can definitely make myself useful.
no subject
[Seems like a good starting point for a beginner breeder, right?]
no subject
What do you want me to keep an eye out for?
[Since, well, you're technically the first client.]
no subject
[Even if technically, he could just catch his own if they're travelling together. But whatever.]
no subject
I can do that.
