Dipper and I just found the coolest place! We're doing the Scavenger Hunt and since we're in Pewter City of course we had to find Taxidermy Teddy and look!

[She swings her 'gear around to show off the room she's in.

A room full of very life-like (but fake!) taxidermy Pokemon.]

Isn't this amazing?! I told him he should start making crazy hybrids but I don't think he was keen on the idea.

[SHAME.]

Look look-- [She points with her free hand towards a display that's full of bug Pokemon.] --betcha can't figure out which one is Chef Chenille!

[Probably the Sewaddle munching on some fake leaves.]

All the details are perfect! It's like they could come to life any minute!

You mean like robots or something?! Robotic Pokemon would be really awesome!!

[A pause.]

...As long as they don't get possessed by some crazy dating game girl and start trying to kill anyone, of course.

...Ah, well, I wouldn't put it past some of the ghost Pokemon around here, either... But they tend to be more of the friendly prankster types, most the time. Far as I've seen, anyway.

[except for the one cooking student who wanted a date but there's no reason to talk about Marian right now...]

Oh oh that would be so much fun! A haunted house full of realistic Pokemon haunted by Ghost Pokemon so they don't act right!!

[Mabel is so on board for this idea holy crap!]

It would be spooky and fun and people would love it!

[On the one hand, he's had enough encounters with ghosts, he doesn't really want to encourage more, they tend to end up bothersome...

On the other hand, it's harmless enough, right?]

Maybe suggest it to him? As something he could put together for a thing in October or something. Maybe not his best ones, but if he made some especially for it.

[Mabel grins, braces gleaming as she bounces on her toes in excitement.]

I will, don't you worry! It's the best idea ever and if he doesn't want to do it I bet I could make some taxidermy Pokemon and get some Ghost Pokemon that want to help! Dipper and I could run a Haunted House all our own!!

I bet that'd be pretty popular around here, in October.

Bothersome things. Gangs from other regions showing up to cause trouble, ghosts going around screwing with people's heads, there was one time a whole bunch of mutant Pokemon showed up and making people sick...

Like the Type: Nulls?? Or those things from Prom??

I wouldn't really call Nulls mutants, myself... And who knows about the jellyfish things.

No, it was like... somebody went and mashed multiple species together? Like a Mr. Mime, but with the coloration and ears of an Azumarill. Or that other one at the center of it all... I might even still have that photo, hang on...

[Give him a minute to poke at his 'gear a bit, go through some of his research folders, and then he sends a photo of Mewssingno. No reason not to share it, anybody who was here at that time years ago would have seen it, it's not like it's secret research only he has access to...

I haven't seen it since. I'm gonna guess it went off somewhere else to get away by itself.

[Newt's not squeamish about taxidermy, even if it was real. Being a biologist, specifically one who used to be elbow-deep in fresh Kaiju guts every day, he got desensitized a loooong time ago.]

God, I really need to figure out how I'm gonna do all this scavenger hunt stuff in time. I got the mom sticker, and I saw that kid and Cherrygrove and his bug, but it's gonna suck having to walk to every single town before the summer ends. I can't even fast travel with those warp pads yet, man.

That's what I told him!! I guess a lot of people get kind of weird about the stuff he makes but I told him he's a true artist!

[Plus she's seen weirder things at the Mystery Shack.]

You should get a bike! Or a Pokemon you can ride!! That would make everything easier! Dipper and I got bikes and now we can get everywhere super quick! At least until we get all the HMs like fly and stuff.

Never really been much of a bike rider, but you're right, it probably would make it easier.

Most of my Pokemon right now are a liiiittle too small for riding. [He holds up his Espurr so Mabel can see her on-screen.] But I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything that looks big enough to hold my weight?

It really totally is easier, trust me!

Oh oh you have an Espurr too!!! [Mabel beams in delight while waving with her free hand.] I have one! His name's Hambone! [Don't ask.] You should try to find a Rapidash! Get a flaming unicorn because it's the best!

[The Espurr waves her tiny little paw.]

Um...I think you can find them wherever there's volcanoes or fire in general. Since they're on fire and stuff. They like hot places!

[At least that's what she's assuming!]

It's like the Mystery Shack but with animals that actually exist. ....so you know almost nothing like the Mystery Shack.

Making hybrids would be pretty neat though.

[That gets a snort-laugh out of Mabel as she flounces over to peer at the Charmander.]

Come on! Some of the stuff in the Mystery Shack might have been real!

It would!! You could mix and match and make them all crazy! [A pause.] Kinda like those Type: Null things.

Yeah...maybe, in some other universe. If they were really unlucky.

Huh yeah. ....You know I wonder why they haven't tried to make more like that? ....unless they have and it turned on them in some horrible way.

Oh oh maybe they have and there's a secret lab somewhere full of creepy ragdoll Pokemon! [Mabel grins and wiggles her fingers in a spooky manner.] Maybe some crazy scientist guy is waiting for the right time to unleash them all!

[He legit thinks that over for a moment.]

Probably not? Though I wonder what a super lucky universe would be like. Would that like cause paradoxes all the time because one persons luck might be someone else bad luck, or would it somehow work out?

[Has he thought of this before or is this on the spot thinking. With Dipper, who knows.]

Maybe. ....What would be the right time? I mean aside from the obvious ones like, Halloween or the date of whatever happened to turn them to mad science.

Hmm...maybe! Constant luck loops!

[Mabel flaps her sleeves about only to stop and look truly thoughtful.]

I think it would depend on the person. 'Cause Halloween would be super obvious so if they wanted to surprise everyone they would totally have to do it sometime unexpected--like Christmas! Mutant Pokemon in Christmas presents!

I don't know, Christmas is still a pretty big holiday. Sure it's not known for monsters. But like what if they did it ....the day after Halloween, or the day before Christmas?

[Wait, no.]

....eh, if they did that they might as well pick a random day. That would surprise people but it would probably be less dramatic too.

You know, considering we haven't been here that long. Maybe we should ask some other people. Maybe there were mutant pokemon and we missed them.

True. A random day would be better than a holiday at all...unless they just picked some super ridiculous holiday like the Fourth of July!

[Mabel snicker-snorts then stops and stares at her brother.]

If we missed out of crazy mutant Pokemon we have to find a way to time travel, Dipper.

Yeah, or like....arbor day.

[Dipper looks at her.]

I don't think that's possible...... I mean aside from finding someone able to build a time machine.

No one expects mutant Pokemon on tree day!!!

[Mabel snorts and rolls her eyes playfully.]

Or we could find a Pokemon that time travels!

Unless they were mutated pokemon trees.

[Dipper half laughs at the idea. And then pauses.]

Wait, is there a pokemon that time travels? We totally have to find out if there is.

[Because when they messed with time travel before, it worked out so well.]

Isn't that what Crafty turns into?

There's practically a Legendary that does everything else so why wouldn't there be one that time travels!!

[Mabel grins.]

We should try and find it!

Nah, she'll just turn into a giant tree. So that means they're normal here. If someone was trying to make mutated pokemon, why would they use one that everyone who has that type would know about?

[Now if you managed to put like five together....]

We should totally try to find it. This place need more information on the so called legendary pokemon anyone. There's like almost no information in the libraries at all.

True..but that would be half of the surprise, Dipper! Take a normal Pokemon and make it even more terrifying than it normally is when you stick it in a spooky forest!

Maybe.... I still think if you combined a bunch or like there must be other tree pokemon you could put together...
