21st Recipe [Goldenrod City; Video]

[The video opens up with a slightly unsteady hand, the pink fingertips of an Audino visible along the left side - and it opens up on Jane, sitting on a couch with her hands folded in her lap to keep from fiddling with her appearance. She's gone out of her way to dress neatly and sharply, to put on light make up, and perks up about half a second after the 'gear is on.]

Oh! You started it - okay, um, alright. Well...hello again, everybody. [She waves, somewhat shyly.] I know my last message out into the network was, er...sad. And I'd be lying to say I wasn't still melancholic, but, uh...I've. I've been thinking about something, and I was hoping...it might be an offer that at least someone is interested in. You see, I...I'd like to keep this house. It was important for my friends at home to have a home, and while I'm the only one left here now, I can't just...abandon the place, you know? We made so many good memories here. So...I'd like to offer this place as a sort of...boarding house?

[She shifts, glancing to the side, and the Audino behind the camera chirps. Don't get nervous now, Jane! Not when you've been thinking about this for a whole month!]

Ah, sorry, Dinah. A-Anyway, I've got several bedrooms that I've gone and cleaned, [Packing away every personal belonging, labeling the boxes with each person's name, keeping out photographs so she can hang them or display them because no one's presence is being forgotten, she just needs to make sure she can keep the house] so you wouldn't need to worry about a place to sleep, and if more people need space, well, I can make space. We've got a backyard for Pokemon to play in, and my team and I are used to making big meals, so you won't go hungry...and I figured I wouldn't want to charge too much, so, if 2,000P a month sounds reasonable, that would go towards the rent for the house and groceries...I'm willing to negotiate the price, though!

[Poor Jane, she's a little all over the place, but she's trying to get out as much information about what she's offering as possible.]

I just - my Pokemon and I all thought it'd be nice to keep sharing this space with others, and...offer someplace to consider home, if you're out traveling more, or just want to bunk down for the winter. [The 'gear lowers, Dinah letting out a soft trill. All you can see is the carpet.] Oh, come now, you put me on the spot! I thought we agreed to counting down before you-

I think that's a wonderful idea, Jane.

Homes...are things that should be filled. And I think it's very clear, by how many of us choose to live in groups, that people desire to share homes. I'll be sure to direct anyone I know looking for residence toward you.

I just hope it's not cutting into the profits the Inns make or anything...

I highly doubt that, with all the travel locals do. The Inns won't be hurting from one boarding house.

Hopefully not. Still, I don't know...if this is something I need to draw up paper for, or...I mean...I'm eighteen, and while I know people can go off and train Pokemon at a younger age, I guess I'm still in the mindset of needing to be at certain points in my life to do things.

I wouldn't think so. You're simply renting rooms in your home, I'd imagine anyone can do that.

You would be surprised at how meticulous bureaucracy can be.

True, but I'll have to look into it anyway - I'd rather not take my chances and get in trouble just for offering people a place to stay.

I'm sure she'll know. I'd guess, if you need to do anything, it would simply be filing with the Pokecenter...those seem to be the seats of government, as far as I've ever been able to tell.

You know, for as long as I've lived here, there's so many aspects of daily life that escape me entirely.

Really? Like what, for example?

Higher government function, public works, tax law...

Those sorts of things.

Aah. Well, to be fair, taxes in my world could be pretty tricky to navigate, too. I'm not sure how my Dad managed to get his all filed so nicely and timely every year.

I honestly never had to give that sort of thing much thought before.

Bureaucracy of any world tends to be needlessly over-complicated, anyhow.

[Even though Jane can tolerate bureaucracy, it can still be a pain in the patootie.]

[She saw the video and actually had to give it a bit of thought. Travelling around is something she's been doing since she got here. However it's only recently that she's realized that aside from the enjoyment of being able to travel, part of is out of fear that if she stops, the time loop will catch up with her. Which is ....silly, right?]

That sounds like a good plan.

Wandering around once the weather starts to get colder probably isn't the best idea. If you still have a room free, I'm interested.

[She's honestly not sure how many people will be interested in randomly boarding with someone who, by all accounts, is still a teenager, but at the very least if it's other people she knows, Jane does feel a bit more at ease.]

We usually do the typical American holidays, I hope that's alright? We can always try out others, though.

Alright, then - I do like to check, though. And if there's anything that you especially want to celebrate, we can certainly do so.

[Birthdays, those weird national or world whatever days, you name it.]

Even if it's not for a long time, I'd like everyone who stays here to at least feel at home.

Not off the top of my head...oh I'm turning 18 in January.....oh my gosh I actually get to turn 18!

Oh, yeah I should probably ask what it'll cost. Also, not to keep you here too long, is it easy to get a job there? I should probably get one if I'm going to be staying the winter.

It's pretty easy to find work in Goldenrod, actually! I'm usually at the Pokemon Center myself, but the department store is always looking to hire, and there's loads of little shops and places who are happy to take in part-timers...as for price, is 2,000P a month reasonable? Like I said, we can negotiate that down if it is.

That's good. Might be fun actually.

And...

I just realized I'm not really sure what a reasonable rent price is. Especially here, so sure. If I get a job that's ridiculously low pay then maybe negotiating can happen.

I'm just trying to base it off of what I think the inn costs are, comparatively. If I'm being too much of a hard nose on that price, I will definitely lower it.

[Knowing Jane, it is always possible she will eliminate it entirely if needed. She. She can't deal with an empty house.]

Oh, and jobs can be really fun! Which is so strange to say, considering how they're always these soul-sucking, scary things in television and such? But I think it's just finding the right fit for you, even in things you don't expect.

Well that's always good news. It would suck to be stuck in a boring job. I'll have to take a look around the city and see what places look interesting that are hiring.

I looked over my travel plans and would showing up at the start of October work out?

[Mostly because oh hey that's when she happens to reach islands and she just cannot.]
