[I. Attack on Voltron House - September 8th]

Hey Armin, we arrived about a half hour ago. Making our way towards the house.

[Shooting off the message, Noct tucked his 'gear into his back pocket then reached up to scratch under his Pidgeotto's beak. Mac cooed in delight and stretched one wing out so as not to hit her trainer in the head, earning a grin out of the prince as Bean rumbled from behind him where she was trudging along.]

We'll be there soon, Bean, I promise. It's not too far.

We're almost there! [At his side, Carbuncle pranced along, twin tails flicking about as the lime green Espeon looked up at Noct and stuck his tongue out, squinting, before taking off ahead of his trainer which prompted the little Growlithe that had been following him to scamper after.] Come on Pryna!

[Grinning fondly, Noct just trailed after them and soon enough they were at their destination. It was Carbuncle that reached the door first, practically slamming into it and standing up on his hind legs as his ears perked forward and he started to rap a paw against it.]

Hello! Anyone home!

Carbuncle!

[II. That's a lot of whales]

[Outside of seeing his friends, reuniting with them in a sense, Noctis had a list of other things that he wanted to do while he was on the islands. One of them? Visit the research center.

With Bean and Carbuncle in tow, his other Pokemon resting back at the house for the time being, Noctis made his way to the place Armin had spoke so highly about time and time again. It was one of the places several people on the boat over had talked highly about and he was even more excited to get a chance to see the Wailmers and go diving, happy to just get a chance to enjoy the simple things.

Especially after everything that had gone on back home.

A soft twill has him glancing down as they reach the center and he gives Carbuncle a reassuring smile before he focuses on their surroundings properly, lifting a hand to shield his eyes as he looks out over the water the center is settled near.]

This place is great for the view alone.

[Bean rumbled her agreement as Carbuncle chirped and pranced towards the center doors.]

Let's go find Armin!

[III. A New Addition]

[Noct hadn't planned on visiting the breeding center. He didn't really have any need for any particular Pokemon at the moment especially since he was eventually going to head to Lavender Town to get some of his old crew back. But while he was reading up on some of available eggs one species in particular had caught his attention: Riolu.

It had made Noct feel a lot sadder than he was ready to admit out loud and it made him realize just how sad someone else probably was about the same thing. It was that realization that had him going to the breeding center to pick out a new companion, returning to the house with the little canine curled up in his arms.

The prince, his Snorlax and her new charge can be found out in the yard after his return, Bean sitting with the little Riolu in her lap and fawning over her while Noct just watches with a sad smile.

It wasn't perfect but hey it was better than nothing, right?]

[IV. Wildcard!]

Noct will be around for a week if not longer depending so he'll be all over the place! Icefall Cave will definitely be on his list of places to hit up as well as spending lots of time at the beach and extra time at the research center beyond the one prompt. [Armin perks when he hears the soft 'woosh' of the automatic doors, clicking his laptop shut. Considering how irregular customers for the scuba equipment rental can be --some days, they are endless; other days, nobody shows up for hours-- the people manning the centre didn't have any problem with Armin using his laptop to keep up on his new online classes in between customers. Not that there was a lot to keep on top of yet with things only just having started off, but Armin wouldn't be Armin if he wasn't going full tilt at this right from the start. But in any case, time to set his studies aside for a moment and pay attention to the customer.

Though in this case, the customer turns out to be less just a customer and more a friend.]

Noctis!

[Armin's smile brightens beyond 'polite customer handling smile' into something more genuine as he rises behind the little desk.]

[Noctis returns the smile with one of his own, lifting a hand in a way while Carbuncle bounds over to where Armin is.]

Hey Armin. Hope you don't mind us stopping by.

We want to see the whales!!

[Prancing around Armin's legs, the Espeon flicked his split tail with a happy chirp, dropping into a play bow in front of the bow.]

Bean does too! But she's outside!

[That gets a laugh out of Noct as he stops and scoops Carbuncle up.] I didn't want to try my luck getting her in here.

Of course not. You are always welcome here.

[Carbuncle's prancing and playful bows get a soft laugh and so do Noctis' words.]

No, I can imagine not. Snorlax is not exactly much of an inside pokemon.

[Well, unless you had some sort of massive, palace-like home. But you'd have to be some sort of prince for that.]

Not at all, plus she prefers it outside. It's a lot nicer sleeping outside in the fresh air.

[It's said with a grin as he let's Carbuncle crawl up onto his shoulders and rest across them.]

So would it be alright if I try out this diving stuff I've heard about? And of course I want to see the Wailmers--after everything I've heard about them from you, I really want to get a look at them in person.

Absolutely. We have everything you need available here.

[Armin won't even charge Noctis. As long as the place isn't packed with tourists, his employers don't mind. The rentals are just a little side-thing for them.]

How about this -- I'll show you the Wailmer and we can pick two to come dive with us. Then, if you want, I can dive down with you and show you the reef itself.

[That makes the prince perk up.]

I'd love that! It'd be great to have someone with diving experience with me since I've never been down there before. I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

He wants to see all the Magikarp.

That's not all I want to see, Carbuncle.

Sure it's not!

To be honest, I've been down there countless of times and I still have the feeling there are some things I haven't seen yet, but I can definitely show you some of my favourite spots.

[Carbuncle's comments have him chuckle.]

Well, hopefully, you are not too set on seeing Magikarp. Apart from the lost individual here and there, they don't generally hang around the reef. There are tons of other water pokemon though. Even some pretty rare ones.

Sounds about right for something like a reef. At least from what I've read about them.

Oh hush up you. [Reaching up to ruffle Carbuncle's ears, Noct rolled his eyes playfully before grinning at the blonde. Ignore the Espeon, Armin. Seriously.] We're in your capable hands, Armin!

[Armin promises to ignore comments from the Persim gallery.]

I think it might be best to change into wet-suits first. Just so your clothes won't get splashed when we got meet the Wailmers. They can get pretty excitable.

You don't have a strange build, so we should have something that should fit.

[They have plenty of wetsuits for rent. And usually, they can find one that fits for every tourist that visits. There have only been a few times where they had come up empty-handed, but Noctis is a pretty average dude in that regard.]

That would be appreciated. Spending the rest of the day in damp clothes doesn't sound like much fun.

[It's a good thing he's not Gladio build because they'd be a little bit screwed. For once being average is working out perfect for him.

Once wet-suits are acquired, with no help from a certain Espeon who seemed quite happy to do everything he could to make it hard for Noct to get changed, the prince made his way out to where Armin had told him to meet.

Still fidgeting with the sleeves of the wet-suit.]

So how many Wailmer are here now?

[Armin has been getting dressed in a wetsuit too. Though unlike Noctis, he actually owns this one. He's just in the water so often, either with the Wailmer or when diving himself, that it was a good thing to invest in.

Plus, you know, fewer wedgies if you get a properly fitting one.]

Well, you are in luck. Right now, all nine of our Wailmer are here, so you can meet them all. And pick whichever you'd like

[Armin gestures slightly towards a door.]

Here, it's this way to their tank.

[And if Noctis has no objections, he'll start leading him there. It's down a few steps and along a hallway, but eventually, the hallway opens up into a huge room dominated by a massive, sunken tank. Toys are scattered along the surface of the water, and as they walk in, Wailmer heads can be seen popping up from underneath the water, loud calls filling and echoing around the room as eight Wailmer start making their way to the edge of the tank. Visitors? Visitors! Oh they know that one visitor, that's Armin, but who is the other guy with him? And did he bring any snacks?]

[Maybe once Noct's settled again he'll invest in one because this time around he's going to invest himself in his Karp Squad full time.

But he's got to get his bearings again and figure out where he wants to set his roots first.]

Nine. [That's a lot of whales.] Is there a breeder that works here or are there rescues as well?

[He can't help but be curious about it; he hadn't gotten to explore this side of the world when he was here last time and there's a lot that he didn't get to experience. Conservation efforts were one of them.

Following Armin with Carbuncle on his heels, and still trying to adjust the wetsuit a bit because good god is it tight, Noct's gaze sweeps over the room as they enter before honing in on the tank itself--

and those eight Wailmer that appear.

The prince's face breaks into a grin as they all start calling out to them, glancing down at Carbuncle as the Espeon twills out a greeting to them excitedly.]

It's almost like they recognize you, Armin. [Teasing tone is teasing because of course they do.] I thought you said there were eight?

This lot has been around for a while. They all have Everstones so they won't evolve. The people who work here fulltime have told me that if any one of them start looking like they no longer enjoy the work, they get to retire and they contact a breeder to get a new egg, but none of these seem ready for retirement yet.

And, of course, we are also ready to take in new Wailmer if it looks like they are starting to get over-worked.

[The various Wailmer have been listening attentively and some even vigorously shake their bulbous heads. Heck, no to the retirement, man. They love doing this thing!]

There should be seven.

[Armin frowns a bit, resting his hands on his knees to count the Wailmer and go over them, before he spots who is missing.]

Oh, it's Bashful. You and Carbuncle must be making him shy so he's hiding.

[That gets a chuckle out of the prince.]

Seems like they're all pretty content to just keep doing what they're doing.

[If all those head shakes are any indication.

Carbuncle can't contain himself anymore, even as Armin explains that there's a shy one among the group, and he prances over to the edge of the pool so he can get a closer look at the larger Pokemon.]

Hello everyone!!

Carbuncle, go slow alright? [He gets a twill in response and just shakes his head, sticking by Armin for now.] This place is amazing. No wonder they're all so eager to stick around. You guys have made it a paradise for them.

[There might be one shy Wailmer, but that doesn't mean the rest of them are. As Carbuncle prances forward, so do a few of the Wailmer. Or to be specific, one very jolly, cheerful looking Wailmer (Happy) and a slightly dopey looking one (Dopey).]

Hi!! Are you coming to dive with us!!

[That sure is Happy.]

[As for the humans meanwhile.]

We try. They have an outside enclosure too. And they get a lot of time on the reef, of course. [Armin looks at the Wailmer, looking very fond.] They help us out a lot, so the least we can do is make them happy too.

Maybe! My person is and I might. I've never been diving before!

[Carbuncle had no idea if he'd even be allowed to go or if it'd work but oh man does he want to! He bounces around near the edge of the pool before dropping to his stomach and stretching a paw out towards the larger Pokemon.

Come closer!!!]

Considering how much Pokemon seem to enjoy being around people most of the time, I bet they love it here. [He glances at Armin, noting that fond look and smiling softly.] I'm betting it'd be ridiculous to ask which one was your favorite huh?

[Happy bobs up higher in the water, pressing his great round self up to Carbuncle's paw.]

You should come!! It is great down under the water!! And there are lots of pokemon to see!!

[Armin laughs softly for a moment.]

That would be a really unfair question to ask.

[Like asking a parent who their favourite child is!]

Though between you and me, it is probably Doc.

[Carbuncle twilled at the bump to his paw and happily patted Happy's head.]

Okay! Guess I have to!

[One way or another.

Noct's smile turns to a grin and he tsks playfully.]

You had that answer ready, Armin. I'm so ashamed of you. [No he's not.] Which one is Doc again?

Sorry, sorry.

[He's laughing too though.]

Do you see the one with white markings around his eyes? [White markings that sort of look like glasses if you squint at them?] That one is Doc.

Have you given any sort of thought to what kind of pokemon you'd like to dive with? In terms of personality, I mean.

...Do you call him Doc because it looks like he's wearing glasses?

[Because that's adorable and the look on Noct's face makes it clear that's what he's thinking.]

Probably one that's calm. More easy going than anything else. As much fun as I'm sure one with a rambunctious and excitable personality would be, since I've never been diving before I figure I should play it safe. [A pause.] This time at least.

Yes. He's also really good at solving puzzles and the like.

[Hey, they gotta keep these Wailmer entertained and stimulated. They have plenty of puzzles they rotate among them to challenge them. Doc happens to take to them the best.]

Hmm, well, in that case, Doc might be best for you. He's really calm and doesn't get rambunctious. He's very good with people new to diving.

[Only a moment passes before the door opens to reveal Matt, wearing a "Sevii Island Observatory" t-shirt and a pair of Alolan shorts with surfing Raichu on them. He's carrying a laundry basket that currently has a baby Staryu peeking out of the clothes.]

Hey there. Can I help you?

[As soon as the door opens Carbuncle hops backwards, head tilting as he peers up at Matt.]

Who are you?

Sorry about him-- [Noct comes up the steps and scoops the Espeon up while his little Growlithe sits at his feet, tongue lolling out.] I'm--well, I'm hoping I got the right place first off. Is this where Armin, Sasha and Keith live?

Erk!

[Matt's a bit startled by the Espeon, and the Staryu burrows down under the t-shirts.]

Oh, yes, definitely! Please come in. I'm Matt. I know Keith from home.

[He steps to the side so the other man can come in the house. Inside, the living room is fairly clean with a tiny roomba zooming around vacuuming up the dust. To one side is a Minior, hovering over a pile of books, with an Alolan Vulpix draped around them. She seems quite protective of the books.]

Do you want a drink? We've got some coffee on, or we've got Moomoo milk galore.

[Carbuncle's ears flick and he shrinks down into Noct's arms. He hadn't meant to startle anyone!]

It's nice to meet you, Matt. I'm Noctis.

[The prince grins and moves to step inside, motioning for his Snorlax to wait where she was--which she was happy to do as she flops down to sprawl out on the lawn.

His eyes sweep the room as he enters the house, noting the Minior and Alolan Vulpix with a grin as Pryna, his Growlithe, gives a rumbly bark of a greeting to them, sticking close to her trainer's feet for now.]

Coffee sounds great actually. [Even if he wasn't a bit fan, caffeine was a wonderful thing.] Got way too early of a start this morning.

9am isn't early, Noct!

It definitely is, bud.
