It would seem I've been derailed from my original journey to a new world, landing here instead. My name is Hope Estheim, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could let me know if others who were with me are here as well.

That being said, I was made aware of a Met-...sorry, I mean, Minior shower and are best seen at the observatory on Sevii Islands. If I can make it, even for a little bit, I would like that very much. I understand it is in the Kanto region but I'm unsure what the best and fastest way to travel once I take the ferry from here.

If you could kindly give me directions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

[He sounds like he's addressing a large crowd, making some sort of speech. Something he has done in the past when he actually looked his age, so it may sound odd now coming from a child. He's also probably unintentionally making a sad puppy face. But Hope is making due with the lemons given to him.]

Taking you along is no trouble. I've already visited every city in this world; I can simply use the warp pads to reach Viridian, though we'll not be able to return to Vermillion that way. This world much prefers being discovered on foot first.

[Which is a fine thought, except in these cases.]

Ah, yes, travelling between regions can be rather expensive for a new arrival. I'd recommend finding work in a Pokémon Center or a major Department Store. They pay better than the Pokémarts.

Warp pads? How interesting, so they are one way trips. How long have you been here?

[Minccino takes this time to climb onto his head and Hope takes a moment to turn around and lean his back against the rail of the ferry.]

They're not exactly one-way trips, but they can only be used once you've visited both cities. They also only link specific locations; you'll not be able to warp back to Viridian once the ferry brings you back to Vermillion.

[An annoyance, but at least there are other cities to visit from there.]

I celebrated my eighth anniversary three weeks ago. Do note that this is exceptionnal, by our standards. Most stays are much shorter. Is that your starter?

[Hope was taking mental notes, he would like to study these warp pads at some point too.

Even if Cecil is an exception to the rule, eight years was an awfully long time.]

Are you by yourself? [This man was an adult who could take care of himself and likely made friends but it still seemed awfully lonely regardless]

Yes, this is Minccino. He seems to like keeping direct contact with me.

These days, yes. Others from my world and former comrades were once brought here, but they've since left. It's a common tale, for those amoung us who have been here for years.

[He's used to the situation enough to sound completely neutral about it.]

What a sweetheart! You should enjoy it while he's still small enough to use you as a perch without breaking your neck.

Is he going to get bigger?

[He couldn't help but look up a bit at the creature, who merely stared down at him with a tilt of his head.]

Not much through normal growth, but most Pokémon species evolve into a bigger, stronger form under certain circumstances. Those often involve gaining levels, but if I remember correctly Minccinos need contact with a specific stone instead.

[Now, if only he could remember which one it was... Moon, Dawn, Shiny...?]

A stone? So this evolution can also be induced?

[Hm, something he would like to try, but only if Minccino wanted to.]

I suppose I will wait and see. I think I like him just the way he is for now.

Whenever you wish, once you can afford to buy it. Then again, perhaps I should say whenever he wishes. Most Pokémon tend to make their desires very clear when it comes to such matters. Some simply decide to remain as they are, for various reasons.

[Cuteness, moves, the ability to climb all over their trainer...]

I'm sure. We'll cross that bridge if we ever get there.

[He scratches the Minccino's head.]

Should I call you when arrive to Viridian?

That would make it much easier to know when to look for you, yes. Will you visit the Pokémon Center first?

Hm... is it recommend that I do this first?

If your Pokémon are tired after your walk there, they'll surely appreciate being healed. Pokémon Centers are also an excellent source of information about this world and its species.

I see, that's certainly good to know. How many species of Pokemon are there?

[paladinlost]

Hundreds upon hundreds. Over seven, but certainly less than a thousand. In this region and at the moment, at least; we've witnessed mass migrations before, and they might occur again.

[Eyebrows shooting up because even if its less than a thousand, that's still a lot.]

So, there may be more in the way from other regions? That would certainly be a sight to see!

It always is! ...Though they'll hopefully not rain from the skies, next time. Some of those poor Espurrs still look terrified of heights.

I... Y-Yeah, no raining pokemon.

[That sounds painful, to be honest.]

Lucky, that was an exceptional event. Most species simply... appear, as if they'd always been there. A handful show themselves first, then you suddenly see dozens more on routes you visit every week.

[While far less painful, it's also somewhat alarming.]
