[Intro music plays, stirring strings. As the music fades, Lust’s voice can be heard.]
Good evening and welcome back, devoted listeners, to another celebration of the eerie, odd, and slightly macabre with the Miss Fitz Story Hour. On this All Hallow’s Night we’re bringing you a trifecta of teeth chattering tales - original stories written right here in Johto. Stories of curiosity gone wrong, love lost, and unlikely spirits. So settle in, bundle up, and be sure you have a light close by.
It may get dark…
Natalie - Heather
Tim - Henry
Alice - Jane
--
[Wind whistles and the sound of leaves blowing down a street are heard. Running footsteps echo in the background and children are heard laughing. There is a more nearby sound of shuffling feet.]
Alice: I don’t think think this is a good idea, guys. Everyone knows the old Morris House is haunted.
Natalie: Uh, Alice? That’s exactly the point. Where did we agree the best place to find ghost pokemon, was?
Tim and Alice: A haunted house….
Natalie: Exactly. Which is why we’re going to that house and we’re going to catch some ghost pokemon.
Tim: I guess….
[Crunching footsteps, followed by a metal shaking noise.]
Tim: Oh, well. Looks like the gates locked. We’d better just go and find-
[A creaking noise]
Alice: How did that….
Natalie: See! I told you it was haunted. There’s probably a ghost pokemon that-
[More metal noises]
Tim: Oh, I see. It was just stuck. Look, I push here and…
[Creaking noise again]
Tim: And the gate opens, I think it’s warped or something.
Natalie: Well that’s just one thing. Come on. Let’s get to the actual house. I want to see some ghosts.
[Footsteps on leaves and then a stone path and then a door is pushed open. More footsteps as they walk onto an old wooden floor.]
Alice: Is it weird that this isn’t locked?
Tim: I think so. Maybe we should go and-
[There is a screaming noise and the door slams shut.]
Natalie: Ghost pokemon! That’s got to be one! Come, on!
[Fast footfalls and panting]
Natalie: It came from here!
[A door is pushed open]
[Long pause and another screaming noise]
Tim: Is that….
[Rustling and something is picked up, window is shut]
Alice: It looks like a creepy skull whistle.I think the wind outside was blowing into it. Maybe that was...
Natalie: Oh there is no way it…
[Screaming noise again.]
Alice: Yup, it was the whistle.
Tim: Natalie, how sure are you that this place is actually haunted?
Natalie: Everyone knows this place is haunted!
Alice: Maybe they were all joking?
Natalie: Come on. I’ll prove it. We’re going to find a ghost pokemon and we’re going to find one tonight!
[A thump and footsteps going off]
[Clock ticking and another door noise]
Alice: Okay, Natalie we’ve been here all..
Natalie: No, look. That candle! It just lit when we came by. Let me…
[Rushing footsteps]
Natalie: See look it’s a Lit-
[Something heavy is picked up]
Tim: Trick candle?
Alice: Yeah, see there’s a price tag on it still...I wonder.
Natalie: This is ridiculous. What kind of haunted house has no actual ghosts?
Tim: Well there’s a Spiritomb in the room next to us.
Natalie: What?
[Running noises]
Tim: But it’s a painting?
Alice: Come on Tim, let’s go get her.
[Door slams]
Tim: This place is probably just a big prank by the people who live here. I bet the locals are just laughing at us.
Natalie: Ugh, I can’t believe this. We spent the entire night and all we found were fake ghosts.
Alice: I don’t know, I thought the sheet on the broom was pretty funny. It was even dyed purple.
Natalie: I hate this town. Come on, we’re leaving.
[Footsteps and a door opening, more footsteps]
[There is a ghostly laugh and one of the footsteps stops]
Alice: Natalie? Is something….did you hear something.
Natalie: …..No. It was probably just the wind….again.
[More footsteps on the leaves and the sound of a gate closing. The ghostly laughter picks up and is joined by others. Creepy music plays us out and leads into Lust's commentary.]
So even a fake haunted house might have ghosts in them. So what does that say about regular houses. Better be careful this Halloween, you might just run into some ghosts, having some fun of their own…
But on to the next. Spooks and frights come in all different shapes and sizes. Sit back for A Tale of Tragedy.
Kurt - Boone
Helfried - Hank
Ulrich - Envy
[Intro music swells, haunting strings and piano. Street sounds can be heard - bicycle bells, Pokemon, low chatter.]
Helfried: Ulrich and I had been best friends since we were small children. We were born in the same both, lived down the street, both had the same starters. We were two peas in a pod, as close as any brothers ever were - closer, even. Until we were twenty five years old, it felt like it was us against the world....
[Music fades and street sounds continue in background.]
Ulrich: ...and I said 'hey, if you didn't want anyone digging through your garbage, you shouldn't have left your cans out unlocked'. So he...hey. Hey. You listening?
Helfried: Oh, sorry. What were you saying?
Ulrich: Ugh, never mind. You're obviously not paying attention anyway. What's been with you lately?
Helfried: Nothing, just distracted.
Ulrich: I bet you were. You know, you've been distracted a lot lately. It's that guy, isn't it? The one you met last time you were out training.
Helfried: So what if it is.
Ulrich: So that’s all you seem to think about! You’re never around, and when you are, you’re just thinking about HIM!
Helfried: I’m sorry, I can’t help it...I think I’m in love!
Ulrich: It’s only been a month! What is wrong with you?
Helfried: I don’t know….
Ulrich: Well fine! If that’s how you’re going to be, then I’m out of here! Call me if you get your head on straight!
[Music swells then fades to background]
Helfried: But I didn’t. I had fallen so head over heels in love with Kurt that I was willing to let Ulrich stew. I knew he was being jealous and petty, but I had no idea just how deep his anger at losing my undivided attention cut…
[Dramatic musical sting.]
Ulrich: Hey! You!
Kurt: Huh? Oh...you’re Helfried’s friend….
Ulrich: You bet I am! And you better back off - we don’t need you hanging around and getting in our business.
Kurt: What are you talking about?
Ulrich: I’m talking about getting my best friend back!
[Dramatic music, screaming, thunderclap.]
Helfried: I couldn’t believe it. My best friend had killed my beloved! So distraught, betrayed and bereft, I threw myself from the local lover’s leap! [Haunting music, forest sounds.] The next thing I can remember…. Soft music. Feeling...light. Without care. Without...without ANYTHING. I didn’t even know myself. I was a hollow husk of what once held memories, drifting aimlessly. I didn’t even know my own face…
[Yamask sounds. Curious, then sad, then excited.]
Helfried: I didn’t know my own face...but somehow...I knew HIS. [Romantic music over Yamask sounds.] And I think...somehow...he knew mine!
[Romantic music continues, softens, fades into outro music.]
Is there anything more haunting than love that lasts beyond the grave? [A dark chuckle.] We thank you for staying with us this long. We’ve one more tale for you. A cautionary reminder to always keep an eye on your Pokemon’s training…Sit tight for The Tale Of The Terrible Dancer.
Missy - Jinx
Sally - Diana
[Intro music plays, background street noises in distance.]
Missy: Come on, it’ll take ten minutes, I promise!
Sally: Okay, fine. But not a serious battle, I have to get home, just show me what your bird can do before my mom gets mad.
Missy: Geeze, don’t be in such a rush! Okay, here we go Oricorio! Raise the dead!
Sally: Can it really do that?
Missy: Just watch!
Sally: Uh...is it supposed to be wobbling like that?
Missy: It’s dancing! They dance. Just wait…
Sally: It really doesn’t look like it knows what it’s doing.
Missy: SHHHHH!
[Discordant, jarring musical notes play. They grow louder and faster. Eerie string music underscores.]
Missy: Look! See! What’s what?
Sally: A smudge of light coming through the trees?
Missy: No it’s a ghost! Oricorio’s raising the ghosts to attack for it! THERE! LOOK! A GHOST! Get ready, it’s gonna attack!
[Music grows dramatic, swells...then fizzles. The discordant notes continue.]
Sally: …...really? It’s just that it looks like it’s just standing there picking its nose.
Missy: It’s probably getting psyched up.
Sally: Nope. Just rooting around in its nose.
Missy: Okay...well...hey, there’s another one! That one looks way cooler, look how big it is!
Sally: I...I don’t think that’s even a person. I think that’s a cow ghost. Are you sure your Oricorio knows what it’s doing?
Missy: Yes! Look, I promised you ghosts, those are ghosts! Um...hold on…
[Strange, ridiculous musical strains play. The discordant notes continue. Groans and moans and quiet ghost sounds can be heard, increasing in number.]
Sally: Uh...Missy? There’s a lot of ghosts all of a sudden.
Missy: I can see that! But...well...they aren’t doing anything…. I mean that one’s standing on his head and waving his legs in the air, but it’s not really threatening… and that one can’t even stand up.
Sally: I dunno, the more we talk, the more I think they’re paying attention to us…
Missy: Oricorio, you can stop now! [discordant notes continue.] Oricorio. ORICORIO, STOP, THERE’S TOO MANY!
Sally: Missy, they’re moving towards us!
Missy: ORICORIO PLEASE STOP!
[Ghost noises grow, discordant notes get louder. Sound of shuffling feet.]
Sally: WHY ARE THEY COMING TOWARD US?
MISSY: I DON’T KNOW! GHOSTS, WHAT DO YOU WANT?
[Sounds continue, music rises, girls scream and cry out in fear.]
Sally: WHAT IS IT? WHAT DO YOU WANT?
[SALLY and MISSY repeating ‘what do you want’ again and again as music grows]
Combined Ghost Voices: We….want…...YOU!
Lust and Harry: ….to have a very Happy Halloween! Goodnight out there, whatever you are!
[Closing music, credits.]
