Todoroki Shoto | My Hero Academia - VR Cast
[It had been a long time since Shoto had felt that familiar itch of his powers and yet, for some reason, he could feel it again as if he'd never arrived in this place and lost them in the first place.
He vaguely remembered someone mentioning something about strange occurrences like this but he didn't think too long or too hard about it, far too focused on actually re-adapting to having both his fire and ice again.
Man did it feel good.
Icefall Cave is bustling with activity as Shoto slides around on ice streams, several Seels and Spheals sliding along behind him and a pair of twin Snorunts doing their best to follow along without falling off the edge of the slide. The young man angles the slide down and hops off at the end, the spikes on his boots keeping him from falling as he hits the ice and continues to create the slide, sending the Pokemon sliding out over the frozen pond with squeals of delight. Now that the slide has been fully installed, the Pokemon--wild and Shoto's team alike--are all over it as Shoto stands by with a small amused smile.
Come join the party?]
[Mothra Attacks!]
[Shoto throws an arm out just before a blast of fire can hit him, a large ice wall going up between him and the attacking Volcarona. He hadn't meant to upset the giant bug Pokemon, he really hadn't, but here they were. Thankfully he had his team with him and he had his own powers...even if ice wasn't going to do him a whole lot of good right now.
Still.
The Bergmite scuttling about near Shoto's feet let out an indignant sound and Shoto scooped the odd little thing up as Polar and Castor both let out twin yips, the ice wall already starting to melt as the Volcarona attacked again.]
Right. Let's go.
[Time to see how fast they can slide down Mt. Ember on an ice slide! Care to join them?]
[Wildcard!]
Where there are Fire and Ice Pokemon, Shoto can be found! Feel free to throw any sort of prompt at me!

Belatedly, Armin recognises the other boy. They've never met in person, but they've talked a few times on the gear. He's the one who was interested in dual typed pokemon, wasn't he? Before he can call out to him though, one of the pokeballs on his belt gives a mighty tremble and the pokemon inside bursts forth in a beam of light. It's a little psyduck, who materialises onto the ice, a floppy wizard hat on his round head, before he promptly slips, going down onto his belly with a surprised psyyyy. ]
Ah, Newton!
no subject
Is everything alright? [Even as he says it Shoto lifts a hand and makes a slight wave motion to freeze the air from his hand towards Newton, lifting the Psyduck up and pushing the Pokemon back up onto his feet.
The Bergmite at Shoto's feet, Rime, squeaks and skids over to Newton, spiraling as he goes and bumping into the other to stop himself once close enough. Hey there!]
no subject
Everything is fine, he just slipped. [Armin's got a question burning on his lips though, not even giving Shoto a chance to say anything else.] That was incredible. How did you do that?
no subject
He lifts his hand again, his right hand, and ice forms over it, creeping up his arm and over his shoulder.]
I'm able to create ice and manipulate it using this side of my body.

[To Armin, a quirk is an odd little habit - the way Eren always scuffs his feet against the ground after getting out of his boots, or the very specific way Mikasa has of folding her scarf. What it isn't, is the ability to make ice. That goes a little beyond being an odd little habit. That'd be like calling Eren's ability to become a titan a quirk.]
no subject
Yes. Quirks are special abilities, mutations I guess you could call that, that began to develop in the human race. Almost 80% of the population has them now and they present in ways that are unique to each individual though a lot of quirks can have similarities.
no subject
So if I understand it right, the people in your world used to be regular like the people over here and then they suddenly started developing all sorts of abilities?
no subject
[Still kneeling, Shoto looks at the adorable little Psyduck and a small smile tugs at his lips.]
Hello.
[Rime cradled in his right arm, the young man holds his left hand out and flames appear dancing along his fingertips for Newton to see.
Surprise!]
no subject
Fire and ice? Does this mean you have two quirks? Or is it one quirk that manifests itself in two ways?
[Is he creating fire and ice, or is he manipulating the temperature and the fire and ice happen as a result? Is there even a distance? Boy, this is interesting.]
no subject
He let's the flames disappear as his smile grows, gaze shifting to Armin.]
It's one quirk that's a combination of both the quirks my parents have. My father has a fire type quirk and my mother has an ice type quirk. [He's not going to get into the whole "quirk marriage" thing but--] Sometimes children will get a similar quirk to one of their parents or a combination of both. I got a perfect mix of both my parents. My siblings all have variations.
no subject
I see.
[Though, if anything, Shoto's answers just make him more and more curious. It sounds so different from his own world, which makes it something he really wants to learn about. Plus, he feels that understanding the sort of world people come from will also help you understand them.]
Are people born with their quirks? Or rather, I should say, is it present from birth or is it something that develops later in life as you age?
no subject
[Shoto let's the Bergmite he was holding down as Rime squirms too much, the small Pokemon scuttling closer to Newton and squeaking merrily. Isn't his new friend amazing???]
Mutant quirks tend to be present from much earlier on while Emitter and Transformative quirks take longer to present.
no subject
Mutant...?
[Armin's tone is curious. It sounds to him like it is a rough way to group quirks, though he doesn't quite understand what each grouping entails.]
What do you mean by those three terms?
no subject
Standing up again, Shoto lifts his hands and allows fire to slowly engulf one while ice covers the other.]
My quirk is considered an emitter quirk. It can be shut on and off and requires a conscious effort to maintain. [He closes his hands and the manifestation of his power disappears, his gaze shifting to Armin.]
Transformative quirks alter the users body in some manner, whether it's hardening their skin into a metal state or allowing them to grow to massive sizes. Mutant quirks are ones that physically alter the user in some manner and can't be turned off. Someone might have wings or have frog like qualities or qualities of a seal. The possibilities are endless.
no subject
[Armin nods slowly as he listens to Shoto's explanation. If he had to sort Eren's shifter power in one of the three, it sounds like it would fall under a transformative one.]
Could someone have quirks of different types?
