So what IS Christmas like here? Back home, it's either something for kids or a dating a holiday, so single people are usually just mopey, but I don't think that's really the case here, is it?

There doesn't seem to be a big emphasis on dating. At least, not that I noticed. The way people explained it to me is that it is a holiday for exchanging gifts with friends. There is a special Christmas market that is only open in December. They sell a lot of things you normally can't find in stores. Even items for your pokemon to hold in battle if you don't mind the effort of looking for them.

Oh, and sometimes mysterious gifts show up.

It's a holiday. It used to be religious, I think, but then became mostly a time to eat a lot of food and give gifts to kids and significant others.

It's in Goldenrod City. It's hard to miss. They really go all out.

And I'm not sure what this year will bring, if anything, but last year, everybody received something from home. No matter where you were, when you woke up, there was something for you. I received my grandfather's book, my friends received their gear.

Yes. I have to admit though if something like that happens again, I'm not even sure what could show up for me. I didn't really have a lot of things back home.

Indeed. It's well worth the trip. There might be a similar market in the Kanto region, but I've never celebrated Christmas while there so I can't be too sure there.

That December holiday, right? I've never really paid all that much attention to it, but most of the time the most that happens is a random item or an egg shows up out of nowhere.

Well, I wouldn't really mind a new egg. Been a while since I caught a new Pokemon.

Ha, I suppose if it's a matter of significant objects, I'm a bit at a loss of what it could be myself. Not sure I have anything that'd pop up just like that.

I'll probably look into that too, then. I wouldn't mind the chance to see some of Johto before having to go there for badges, but something closer to where I am would be more convenient.

Not really, no. Not really much to celebrate back home, so I never got used to it, I guess. Besides, it's a lot of effort to remember and plan something every time. Rose cares way more than I do.

Yes, I suppose if you don't come from somewhere with a lot of them, you're not going to suddenly care just because everyone does.

Well, I suppose it is possible insignificant objects might be gifted too. I didn't hear about anyone receiving something like that, but then, if it was something common and plain, they might not have recognised it as being from their own world.

It is definitely a region worth visiting. Though the same goes for Kanto. I think I recall you talking about challenging some of the Kanto gyms before. Was it Pewter?

It was Pewter! I beat Brock, pretty much the way I hoped my plan would go. I'm now staying in Celadon, building up my bank account a bit before I go back to gym fighting.

The holidays here are actually quite nice! I can't recall ever having a bad experience. While I'm not sure what the natives choose to do, each holiday is really up to our own volition when it comes to those who've been brought here. I'd say if you wanted to treat your Pokemon as kids and give them a good time, no one would think it odd.

You're from Japan, right? I think it's more like it is in the west here. People really go all out with the presents and decorations-- and the Pokemon really get into it too!

A lot of the time, yes, they really are much like children.

That being said, I've actually never heard of Christmas being a couples' sort of holiday before.

Ah, that's a regional thing in my world, at least. It wasn't a thing in my country until fairly recently, so it was adapted to something different from what it was originally.
