[Rose Quartz seems to be sitting on her bed, ....poking her hair? Yup, welcome to body swap week's newest players.]

Wow this hair is so ....curly. And ...big.

[She'll pick up the gear and hold it up.]

Um...hi? I don't really know who I'm supposed to be. I know people have been switching bodies...Oh! I'm Newt. Only now I'm really tall and I have pink hair? Do adults get to have pink hair?

Um, whoever is in my body, you should be okay, my pokemon will look after you. Just don't hurt them.



[Action 1.]



[You know what is weird? Going from being really small to really big. Newt is being followed by this woman's' pokemon as she walks outside in, oh hey Goldenrod.]

Oh! I know this place!

[She's not so used to the walking around part because tall and wow this hair is even harder then hers! So she may stumble a bit....a lot. If she bumps into you, expect an apology. Especially since she's a bit stronger then she used to be.]

Sorry! I'm not used to being this tall. It's really weird.


[Action 2.]

[Newt, as Rose has located a park and is playing in the snow. Her hair might be a mess and covered in snow but she can make the biggest snow angels ever!

She is now working on a snowman. Giant snowman]

I wonder how tall I can make him.

[Newt is treated to a video of herself. Looking wide eyed and extremely excited.]

Oh! You're me! Well not me me, obviously, you're you but you're me! So I must be you!

I'm Rose Quartz! Your Pokemon are lovely! But a little worried, I think....

[Oh wow, it's her but not her. Have a surprised expression for a moment before she thinks about it. Then nods.]

You're, you in my body.

[That makes, some sense. And she smiles because her pokemon...]

We look after each other, and I've been travelling with some of them for a year. So, they're probably confused.

[And yes, worried.]

If you tell Ripley's what's going on, she'll understand and tell the others. She's the pokemon I started with. Oh and she's the Arcanine. She's really big now.

[She's also Newt's unofficial pokemon mom. So is probably the one that has been trying to figure this change out the most.]

[What Pokemon can do this? Rose just assumes it's a Pokemon responsible.]

I'll take very good care of them until this is all sorted out, I promise. I'll explain everything to Ripley.

Thank you! She worries a lot. I think it's because I told her about the person I named her after.

She's named after Ripley. She's my mom now...or right before I got here. Ripley is the best! She saved my life from the alien monsters that killed everyone in my colony. I got to see her in the weird weekend too.

[And still really misses her, which is why you are in the islands because Shiro is like her adopted dad at this point as well.]

Okay, which one are they?

[Those are some alarmingly familiar terms...]

Well, she sounds wonderful.

Oh! Doofy is the Bidoof. Hoppy's the Hopip, Bunny's the Bunnelby, Ducky's the Psyduck....

[It's pretty easy to figure out Rose's naming scheme for her Pokemon.]

Oh right. I'm from a space colony that people built on a moon that was really far away from earth. I was the first person born there.

.....then people found these weird eggs and these horrible monsters hatched out and they killed everyone except for me. Because I'm....was small and I can hide places. Ripley was with the marines that came because she'd seen them before too.

They killed most of the marines too but we managed to blow them up and escape with two other people. We were in a spaceship when I woke up here.

[And that is the very brief, fact version of a much longer complicated, traumatic story.]

Okay! Oh, if you look in one of my notebooks I should have a list of everyone's names and what they are. There's a lot though so you probably won't meet them all.

I see. That sounds like a very frightening experience, I'm sorry you went through it. But I'm glad you're here now, it sounds much safer.

I've been here about a year now.

[So that's helped. Also it means she should probably admit that she has to be eight by now. The time thing got her mixed up.]

It's great here. If they brought Ripley and my two other friends it would be better but they have trees here! And nature! And ...well they don't have animals from earth but they do have pokemon and they're amazing. My colony didn't have any plants or nature or animals at all.

Aren't animals and plants wonderful? I like them, too.

And you'll always have the memory of your friends to keep with you.

They're really neat. I named myself after an animal from earth that I did a project on back home.

[The name somehow, stuck.]

Oh and my friend, Mabel found me a pokemon that even looks like a newt!

Did you? What are they like?

[Newt thinks for a moment. It's been a while since her project but she's remembered a lot about them because they're really cool.]

They can come in all sorts of colours. And when they get hurt they can regen...regenerate! different parts of themselves. And they can live in water and on land! Oh and if something tries to eat them, some of them are poisonous and so it keeps them safe!

[She...really likes newts.]

They sound amazing! I can live in water or on land, and regenerate!

Or I used to, before here. Oh, it's probably lucky it's not one of those strange times!

Really? How could you do that?

[She knows Thida was a squidkid before she got here. And she knows about androids from here and her own home. She's not sure what Rose would be.]

It's a little hard to explain. My body is technically made of light. Like a hologram, but solid.

That sounds really neat.

[And yes, confusing. Still, time to try to figure it out.]

.....If you're normally made of light...but solid. Does that mean you could break like glass? Or is the light really hard? ....and could you make yourself brighter or less bright?

Oh no, nothing like that! But I could change what I look like. My real body, the thing that's me, is my gem.

[She had collected some jewelry back home when she was in hiding. Just to hang on a pipe nearby. It was nice...shiny. ....apparently in some world, alive?]

On Earth. But not where I come from. Where I come from, gems are people.

[Thinking it over, what does she knows about gems...oh they're shiny, that's like light...]

If you're light, does that come out of the gem?

Something like that, yes! I could change what I look like, but I'm always pink and always have my gem. I still have it here, it's just not a part of me in the same way.

[Now it's a rather fancy navel piercing.]

Because of them gem I am. I'm a rose quartz! That's a pink gem.

[Rose laughs a bit, like she's made some sort of joke.]

It's the pretty stone that's pinned in my navel.

Oh! That makes sense.

....Does that mean you're the stone there now? Or did this place make you human too?

[Newt, you are literally her right now. Oh well.]

Oh no, I'm human now! You'd be able to tell if I wasn't, after all.

Oh...right. I would.

[She still feels human so yeah. That checks out.]

Most of the people I meet here who were other things, end up human here too. I guess it makes sense if everyone turns human.

That's what everyone's told me, that everyone is human when they're here. Except for sometimes!

But it means I get to experience being a human. And now I get to experience being a tiny human!

Being small is really good. You can hide, fit in small places and get to places where no one can reach you.

So this body-swapping thing isn't just happening to Ray and I, huh? Damn. That means I can't keep blaming him for it.

Anyone can have pink hair, it's not a requirement of adulthood. Hell, when you get back to your normal body, you could get some hair dye yourself and turn your own hair pink.

[Not like he even knows what Newt looks like in the first place, but its fine. Kid can have pink hair if she wants.]

It's been happening to a lot of people. I don't know why though.

...really? Is dying your hair hard to do?

Nah, not really! Just follow the instructions on the box- or go to a hair salon and have them dye it for you.

Oh that sounds fun. Maybe I'll try it when I get my body back.


....Do you know how long this lasts?

Noooo idea. Hopefully not too long. I'm glad to be able to see one of my partners in person, finally, but I'd really appreciate if I could be in my own body for it. And also see Ray in person and not just from lookin' in a mirror.

Yeah. It's fun being a grown up but she's really tall and it's safer to be small. You can hide better from things. So I hope it doesn't last too long.

[How will she sleep under her bed like this?]

[Armin has managed to find a truly odd assortment of clothes to put Krieg's body in. There are Krieg's normal pants and boots, but on top of that, he's got a button-down shirt, a sweater vest and some sort of puffy bomber jacket to battle the cold for however long he ends up inhabiting Krieg's body. There is also an ear-flappy hat with a big ol' bobble that is pulled snugly down on his bald head. He's near wearing Krieg's customary mask. It feels bulky and constricting and, honestly, with one eye covered up, his depth perception is just lousy. He already ran into one door, that's more than enough.

Heading back to the inn where he is staying with Maya and Gaige, A big blob of pink catches Armin's eyes. Ah, that's--! He and Rose haven't actually met in person. So far, they've just exchanged letters. But he knows what she looks like, and ought he greet her? It'd be unfortunate to let the opportunity go to waste, right? Plus, it'll give him a chance to explain why his next letter might be late.]

Ah, Rose? It's Rose, isn't it?

Action 2

[Newt turns to look and smiles when she sees who it is.]

Krieg! I didn't know you were here. No, it's me Newt! My mind got switched with this lady. I didn't even know who she was until this.

[Armin puts up his hands, shaking his head with a slightly apologetic smile (which looks super weird on Krieg's face]

Ah, no, I'm not Krieg. Actually, it's Armin. I guess you've been a victim of... whatever it is that is going around too, huh?

[It does look a bit strange but oh well.]

Yeah. I woke up in a strange house with different pokemon and I'm really big! And look at my hair!

[Poking her snow encrusted giant mass of pink hair.]

[At this point, they can't do anything but accept the strangeness because clearly it is sticking around.]

Incredible. I don't think I've ever seen that much hair in one place.

[Or a woman this large. Here Armin thought ending up in Krieg's body was a step up in terms of size but Newt absolutely got him beat inside her new body. There is always a bigger fish pokemon, huh?

[She's a giant woman!]

And she's really tall, so it's really easy to make a snowman, I can reach so high! I swung on a tree branch earlier and I only had to jump, instead of climbing the tree!
