Anyone got a recommendation for good batteries in this damn place?
[ the video feed opens not on jack's face, but on a hotel room desk. he's got several batteries that look like they could fit into a flashlight or other types of utilities sitting on the desk, spread out. the only other things visible are his scarred hands and most of his upper body, wearing a black shirt. the feed cuts off at the shoulder.
his skitty, crybaby, is also in the shot, gently batting at some of the smaller batteries. ]
Every single one of these has died after an hour of use, maybe. Some were dead when I put them in.
Back in my world, batteries actually lasted for a decent amount of time.
[ jack makes a scoffing noise and leans down out of sight of the camera to get something. meanwhile, the skitty on camera stiffens, and then wiggles, running across the screen to chase something, clattering some of the batteries.
... that something being a joltik, bouncing across the screen as crybaby chases it to the other side.
jack can be seen looking up, a flash of a scarred face and white hair. ]
What are you --
[ he reaches up to turn off the gear as he gets up after his skitty. ]

[ now color jack curious. ]
video;
It's his way of encouraging them. I think.
video;
Even if he is a large ham about it.
[ armin probably recognizes the next pokemon to come out, if he has ever met laika before. she shares marcel's markings, at least. she puts her paws up on the desk to sniff at the pokeball holding gizmo. ]
Laika, down.
[ aaaand she's ignoring him. ]
video;
It looks like you've been pretty busy collecting pokemon.
video;
Laika, down.
[ this is accompanied by physically pushing on her head. laika gives a little protesting growl, but she goes back down after a moment, walking away with her head held high. ]

video;
[ which means he's not got enough badges for her to deign to listen. ]
video;
Though if you ever want any more Growlithes in the future, you should contact a person called Bertolt Hoover. He breeds lots of them. Some of his even have gone on to be police dogs with the local Jennies.
video;
[ he turns his head to look at laika, and there's a borf! off screen. ]
I think Ford mentioned that she was originally from one of Bertolt's litters.
video;
Though that might be an option. If you do have a psychic type pokemon. You could ask them to translate her thoughts for you. Maybe she'll listen to you better if you can communicate better.
[Or, you know, she is just a brat and Jack is a complete noob. Who'd listen to a noob? Not Laika, that's for sure.]
video;
Never thought I'd be able to ask someone else's dog what my dog is thinking.
[ spoiler alert: laika definitely thinks jack is a noob. ]
video;
That's for sure. Back home, the worst one of the horses could do was throw you off or trod on your foot. Here, they can set you on fire.
