[It's immediate to think to tell him no, not to bother. She doesn't want him to see her so weakened by emotion, so unlike herself. But...if they can't deal with that now, they never will.]

[Until she opened the front door to find Boone with his awkward offering of cake, Lust had managed to keep her emotions mostly under check. The conversations that were particularly difficult had been held over text. But for some reason she doesn't quite understand, the small and simple gesture is enough to make her eyes prick and brighten wetly.]
