April Fools Memories - Video
April 1st huh... I have memories of this day. Wonder why it's coming in clear now...
I remember when I was 14 and I was really into harmless lies for April Fools. Not that I do it anymore.
Then I told a lie that convinced the wrong person I was being transferred out of school, which snowballed into the entire class throwing me a goodbye party. I was so shy and nervous back then, I fled the room in shame.
And then I got attacked by Red Oni and he made a giant monster which would tell the most basic of lies to trick us in a fight. I guess that day was pretty basic but it taught me the most valuable of lessons.
[Yayoi hefted the Sobble in her arms and added,] But I'll leave it up to you to decide what lesson I learned. Clearly I haven't lost my mischief streak yet.
So has anyone figured out if these little ones have names yet? I've called mine Sobby.

[ this is probably not the lesson, but it's sure one she learned as a child. in the moment she's talking, her voice is calm and almost soothing, not quite soft, but level. there's a bundle wrapped in a blanket resting in her lap, and her absol is leaning against her side, partially in frame. ]
Most seem to say their names in part when they're vocalising, don't they? That's one of those things I've stopped trying to figure out the why for. Regardless, not sure what the proper names might be, but "sob" appears to be part of these ones.

[Yayoi nods as she looks over to where the Sobble is sleeping and says,] Seems like it. They're definitely going to be water types, if their colorization is any indication. He seems to like the bathroom too, and jumped into the tub when I was washing up.

[ on the other, it's a bit absurd, truly. ]
Have you noticed him every being... hard to see?
no subject
[it was super absurd. Her era of Precure was super absurd.]
Sometimes? I noticed sometimes he just vanishes and I worry, but Mimikyu usually susses him out. I wonder if he's part ghost. Or has a camouflage ability.
no subject
[ as in difficult to believe, incredulous, rather than great. ]
I've been wondering something similar. I'm not seeing any evidence of... intangibility, for what that's worth.
no subject
[ Because why not, this place was amazing still.]
Maybe he's skittish, or just able to sneak everywhere...
no subject
[She says as if being honest is the most painful thing in the world.]
That's what you would call a basic day? What the hell was a complicated day for you then?
no subject
[She shrugged with a little grin.]
That was a basic day for me. A more complex day would be finding out something more about myself, or ranging into fighting a blob monster which turned out to be a good blob monster which was becoming friends with a girl who became a Phantom Superhero.

[Though thinking back on what she knows about the Titans a lot of themes are starting to come together.]
Magic is full of stuff like that I guess. More often then not a curse or a hex is meant to punish someone for something they did wrong so you'd think I'd have learned more hard lessons by now.
no subject
But then I've never personally met an Ultra so I wouldn't know.
Precure magic is all about offensive purification, but there's a lot of gentle purification as well.
no subject
What like holy magic? Were you guys priests or something?
no subject
Kinda? Like, Precure are legendary warriors who carry with them purifying magic, and there was a whole town who became Precure at one point. Male, female, didn't matter.
no subject
Did the whole town stay precure or was it one of those last minute "we're all gonna die so pull out all the stops" sort of moments?
no subject
They stayed Precure technically. I don't think anyone actually LOST their powers to be honest.
no subject
A whole town of magical holy heroes....yeesh.
[Remind her to never go anywhere near there.]
no subject
Hugkumi Town is a nice place to visit at least, if you're not actively causing trouble. I went there once to fight one of the Precure's dad's when he was still evil.
no subject
Was he an Oni too? Or like an Evil Precure? Are there Evil Precures?
[Please tell her everything about this other type of superhero world.]
no subject
No, he was a scientist, who then transformed into a giant monster powered by Toge-power which was negative emotions. And yes, there's been evil Precure in the past. I myself had a dark reflection once before.
... she was pretty hot come to think about it. It's a shame I was too young to appreciate it.
no subject
Which is a shame because all the other negative emotions that get packaged with evil apparently turn you into giant monsters.
no subject
no subject
I mean...how come all villains have to be so negative? I like to think that my team and I were fairly healthy and balanced people...most of the time.
[Sigh]
Oh well. No sense longing for something that wasn't meant to be. Being a hero...ish type is usually more rewarding.
no subject
And I mean Really Not.
But that's something I tend to chalk up to Things Just Happening really.

But he was stupid. He kept going after me specifically and it wound up getting him caught. That's what you get when you make your priorities so obvious you know? Even after the first time it got him caught he did it again coming right after me and wound up almost dying when someone way stronger then me caught him.
I guess I should thank him though since it helped me change careers.
no subject
At least, that's how I see it.
no subject
Wow, that's. Sorry to hear that?
[Apparently he focused on that part of the story instead of the Red Oni part. Maybe because it does strike a little closer to home than he'd like to -- he was kinder when he was a kid]
They got upset with you later?
no subject
no subject
[Besides...]
Now what was that part about giant monsters?
no subject
Yeah, back in the day I was a teenage superhero. I fought giant monsters on the regular. Almost like clockwork every week, or twice a week if the villains got real ornery.
no subject
Since you're not a superhero anymore does that mean you kicked the villains' asses once and for all?
[He sounds really interested on that, yeah. Maybe because of the cool factor, maybe because he's a hero -- well, vigilante, but he sure isn't going to make the distinction]
no subject
And then I just sort of retired. Didn't know why but I have a pretty good suspicion I was being messed with now.
Oh yeah, just a regular afternoon fighting monsters based on the last embarrassing mistake you made, happens to all of us.
Is the lesson that you gotta get better at lying?
Re: [video]
In hindsight, it was still really funny.
Gonna pull any this year?
Re: [video]
I didn't have any chance to prepare this year sadly. Too busy taking care of this young kid.
