Hey guys! I've been spending a little time lately looking for pieces of media that's similar to media in my home dimension, and look at this!

[He picks up a "Dungeons and Dragonites" rule book in excitement.]

I used to play this all the time! Well, not this version, but it looks pretty similar to Ghosts and Gargoyles! I would spend hours crafting backstories for my new characters, and spend even more hours going on adventures with my friends in these.

[He flips through the book and it takes him a good moment to remember that he's on video.]

Oh right! My point is that I wanna try this out! I'm sure that there's others in this dimension who'd like to try this out, but I'd be happy to teach you the basics if you're new to this. Plus with these video chat features, we don't have to worry about being in person in order to hold a session!

[Ray pauses, genuinely wondering if he's going to regret allowing this.]

As long as you make it something like a Mightyena or a Lycanroc I guess there's no harm in that.

[He guesses.]

Whoa, really? I guess this means this game must be mostly based on your dimension's variation.

[Winston was like the one guy who got into it but he kept solving all his puzzles instantly and it was all hell.]

I would be! I've DM'd a few times and this seems similar enough that I think I'd be pretty decent at it. I think I'd try out one of the campaigns already written up before I write anything myself, just so we can all get a good feel for things.

[There's a notable pause as Ray realizes who this is. Gaige has told him... quite a bit about this man, and to say he was wary of this man was an understatement.]

"Taylor Swift"?

Greatest musical talent of all time! Voice like a goddess, lyrics that cut to your soul, fashion sense so sharp you could skin a bear with it...

What I wouldn't do for just one of my albums.

Huh, it makes me wonder if most cultures has a variation of this game, with how many different types of Ghosts and Gargoyles I'm hearing about.

[Truly this is nerd heaven.]

Ha, sure thing! Half the fun of these games are how unpredictable they can be!

I can have you guys be the class "Dragon Tamer" if you want; that class isn't in my dimension's version and sounds very specific to this dimension!

I'd hope you be! I betcha you could come up with a great character in this game, especially with these cool races and your experiences with the supernatural!

I understand what that's like; I would do anything to have Slimer here with me.

[That's... maybe not an equivalent thing there.]

I realize I'm probably gonna regret this, but...what the hell, I got nothing else going on right now, I'll bite.

What's a Slimer?

Yeah, actually we had a weird thing happen the last time I played with Grunkle Ford. We actually got pulled into a real life version of the game and Mabel and Grunkle Stan had to play us as characters to save us.

.....I think I'll make up a different character.

Is it a pokemon based one? There was a teenager here before who started a game and we all had to play as pokemon.

Hmmm.

[It's unclear whether that's Egon...agreeing to do what Ray says, or....]

Of course. I'll attempt to select a wide variety, as polydice have a tendency to disappear under couches and carpets.

[There's like, ten minutes of silence, and then--]

[There's a blurry picture attached of what look to be...normal dice, except they're wrapped in a cellophane candy bag.]

[Suddenly a very serious Dandy right here.]

I want you to promise he can totally have a bazooka.

Maybe, but it could be completely different and just share a similar name. I've encountered that already a few times.

[ Get Better Puzzles, ray. ]

I wouldn't mind throwing my hand in for trying it out, then. They got anything like barbarians or paladins in there?

Oh! That looks like the Mysteries and Dungeons book Mr Pines gave me for Christmas. I don't actually have it with me here.

[Because, alas, there had only been so much room in his pack for books, and a DnD corebook is not quite that useful on Victory Road.]

I'd really like to play it some time. I've read the corebook, but I've never had a chance to try it.

[Though he may already have sorta kinda maybe made a character template.]

[It's a good thing you can't see him beaming because you'd probably realize that you've made a horrible mistake, Jack.]

Oh! Slimer is a pet ghost we have at home! We caught him on our first bust but after he broke out, he stuck around our place and we soon realized that he just wanted some friends! I've been teaching him some tricks and I think he's been getting really good at helping me repair the Ecto-1!

Peter doesn't like him a lot because he eats a lot and slimes him, but I think he's got a soft spot for the little guy.

I don't know, I think that sounds pretty fun, especially since it seems you got out of it alright!

[Granted Ray has no standards of anything.]

It is! It looks like there's a human class in here but that sounds really boring with all the cool Pokemon you could be in this game.

Yeah! It looks like they have all traditional classes as well as some neat new ones I haven't seen before.

[The fact that they can't carry all the cool books you find in this dimension while traveling is a sin, honestly.]

Sure thing! It's been too long since I've played the game myself, I would love to try my hand at DM-ing after all these years again!

Of course, the one downside is that I can't make my own character if I'm the DM. There are so many cool races and classes in this book!

I really should've gone with my first instinct, huh?

So...you realize that just raises a bunch more questions, right? And I've already started down this path so I just gotta keep going...

Let's start with pet ghost. How the flying frick does that work?

It's more fun when you get to control a character. Being controlled as a character was less fun. Still at least we didn't get our brains eaten.

[It could have ended a lot worse.]

One human class? Yeah that sounds boring. Are all pokemon an option, or just a few in class roles?

That one sounds good! Can it kill people with its brain?

[Armin has been introduced to the wonderful, god-like technology that is the E-reader but some of his books are still in actual paper form, and alas, there are only so many he can carry around in one go.]

Well, if I remember things right, the DM is supposed to come up with the whole story and the characters you encounter, right? You could probably get pretty creative with that.

[There isn't even a reply. Not a proper one, at least. A few minutes later, a slightly blurry picture of a hand holding a cellophane bag filled to bursting with multicolored candy dice is sent to Ray.]
