A small pokemon might be able to do the trick. Either one that can transmit their thoughts, or one that is able to bring something like the gear along with them.

Sneaking into an eemployee-only area would be hard for a human. You might be able to pass off getting caught there once as being lost [Theoretically. Armin couldn't, cause he has no pokerface] but it'd be pretty suspicious. A small pokemon would be able to hide themselves better than a human can, and wouldn't cause so much alarm.

Of course, if they are team rocket members, that does put said pokemon at a risk.
