Wingulls wheel and dive in the salty springtime air of Olivine City's harbor, as white as the gleaming sides of the ship moored directly below. The S.S. Aqua isn't an infrequent visitor in the slightest, but this time it's for a very special occasion! Colorful banners stream from the sides, each one proudly declaring the word PROM in glittery font.

The boarding starts around noon on Friday, and the sight of the huge ship alone is enough to get many people and Pokemon swept up in the party atmosphere. The captain is even there when the ramp is rolled out, wanting to welcome each otherworlder onto the boat personally with a hearty handshake and (mentioning he's a renowned 'people reader'), a recommendation on what part of the cruise he thinks they'll like best based solely on a glance. Weirdly enough, guests might find that he's usually right!

Unsurprisingly, it takes a good long while for everyone to get on board and accounted for, which leaves each guest with plenty of time to find their rooms, dump their luggage, let their Pokemon out to stretch their legs a little, and finally head back to the deck to wave goodbye to the harbor as the SS Aqua heads out onto the open water.

IT'S FINALLY HERE, THE BEST TIME OF YEAR!


For the next three days until it makes its way back to shore on Monday, the lucky cruisegoers can live it up as much as they want. And, as the captain boasts over the announcement system once things are underway, the S.S. Aqua and its staff truly are the hosts with the most-- not even Gorgeous Resort has as much variety as this!

THE ATTRACTIONS

FIRST OF ALL, THE ROOMS!

Each room is fitted with either one or two king-sized beds, making them perfect to share with partners or friends, along with a wide-screen TV, dimmable lights, and fancy bathrooms. With little soaps that have "Please Steal Us!" printed into them.

Depending on whether they're exterior or interior rooms, they may or may not have porthole windows and balconies on the outside.

Check out the "Mood" channel on your TVs, you won't be disappointed.

GET YOUR SWIM ON @ THE WATER PARK

Possibly the first thing about the ship that most people notice (because it's noticeable from a mile away) are the set of pools and waterslides (proudly titled the Winged Mirage Pools) on the very top deck. It's about as wild as it gets while staying within the acceptable safety level for being pools on top of a huge boat. Each pool has its own set of waterslides that turn and twist to your heart’s content, so be mindful of your fellow guests rushing out to drop in on the fun!

Lifeguards are stationed and well-equipped to keep watch over patrons, and will do their best to keep the pools’ populations separated according to the ship’s rules. It would be unsafe, after all, for a small Pokemon to be bowled over by a group of rowdy folks playing water volleyball, or some similar incident.

The Articuno Pool is limited to human swimmers only! It has a small cold-water jaccuzi on the side, and the mosaic tile laid down looks quite similar to deep arctic ice. Pokemon are allowed in the vicinity of the pool but not within the pool itself.

The Zapdos Pool is special pool just for small to medium sized Pokemon to enjoy! It is staggered in two “tiers” and features greenery and water properly calibrated to suit even the pickiest sea Pokemon’s taste. Humans are allowed to supervise their Pokemon, but are asked to not interfere with the many Lifeguard Starmie on duty.

The Moltres Pool, flanked by two warm jacuzzis, is where people and small Pokemon are allowed to swim together! The water is calibrated carefully to be safe for all swimmers, and while it is expected for swimmers to get a little rowdy, Pokemon larger than their trainers are asked to refrain from cannon-balling, for the safety of everyone around them.

IT'S NOT PROM WITHOUT DANCING!

For the main dancing action, you’ll want to go to the Nido-King and Queen Ballroom. There, you can get down and funky with friends and your roster alike in your nicest prom duds to tunes spun out by a live DJ, who will happily and eagerly take your song requests. Don’t be shy, bust out those moves you’ve been holding onto all year!

For those of you who might prefer an all-night techno thump to your dancing, the Porygon2 Discotheque will keep you up and about long into the wee hours of the morning. Featuring actual Porygon2 assisting their DJ trainer, you’ll have their ill mixes and projected lights guiding you into perpetual party heaven.

AND IT'S NOT A PARTY WITHOUT FOOD AND DRINK!

Food is plentiful on board, nowhere more so than Wailord’s Bounty, a buffet operating round the clock to make sure all guests have the chance to fill their plates with delicious morsels whenever they want. While there’s plenty to go around for people and Pokemon, cruise staff do ask that Munchlax and Snorlax are not brought into the buffet. There have been... incidents.

For those looking for fine dining in the evening, look no further than The Mother-of-Clamperl. Slightly fancier than the other areas of the cruise, guests are expected to be dressed somewhat nicely. No showing up in flip-flops! Wear a dress shirt and have some champagne!

Somewhere in between on the fanciness spectrum, The Shiny Corsola may look like a gaudy bar, but lurking in that sparkly, shimmery haven is a smooth nightlife scene with all of the fancy liquor and exquisite jazz you could ever want. The jazz is live, by the way - the Jazzypuffs play an ever-rotating set for your listening pleasure, setting the mood for a sweet, sexy, relaxing night away from the hustle and bustle of cruise life.

AS FOR NON-AQUATIC RECREATION...

The Radical Croconaw Cove is the dope place to chill for preteen and teen promgoers, ya dig? Chock full of tubular snacks and stocked with retro video games that are the bomb-diggety, this is the off-the-hook zone to get your chill on! There’s also some board games too, for you tabletop nerds who want to squeeze a session in.

If you’re after live entertainment, Sudowoodo Centerstage has all your needs covered. Live comedy? Check. Sketches and skits performed by an ever-rotating cast of human and Pokemon actors fresh from Unova’s Pokemon Musical stage? Check! Opportunities for open mic performances by guests? Oh, honey, that box is done CHECKED! That’s right, guests of all species are encouraged to come on up and belt out that Lady Gardevoir cover that’s been stuck in their head, or perform in any other way! the only limitation is that guests are asked to keep Pokemon moves involved to non-destructive ones. After all, this is a cruise ship, not a Contest! And renovating a ship stage can be pricey.

While Goldenrod and Celadon have their Game Corners, the SS Aqua has the Mystery Egg Arcade, welcoming all ages to come and earn technicolor tickets via timing, chance, sharp eyes, and steady hands! Your first twenty tokens are complimentary, the rest shockingly reasonable in price (the equivalent of twenty-five cents per token), and the prizes you can glean are, while not the usual battle items or rare Pokemon, still very nice! Everything from well-made toys to good quality candies to the usual arcade bits and bobs like whoopie cushions and harmonicas, tiny parachute plastic figurines and paper finger traps...it’s all here, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg in tickets to win it, either!

For those looking for more intellectually stimulating pursuits, the Mantine Maritime Library offers a decent selection of reading materials, all seafaring in nature. From glossy photo spreads of underwater expeditions to reproductions of nautical journals from early sailors in Johto and Kanto history, this place has...well, not everything, but enough to whet your academic appetite.

What cruise ship is complete without an awesome rock wall to climb? Shuckle’s Challenge is specifically for humans, and any Pokemon that can’t learn Rock Climb or similar moves. It’s a test of ability and will, and the top of the rock wall offers a grand prize - the most spectacular view of the open sea on the entire ship.

Colorful and cheerful, Phanpy’s Putting Green is exactly the kind of kid friendly minigolf experience you could come to expect from the Pokemon world. Springy green turf adorned with figurines and obstacles depicting various baby Pokemon in play, it’s a hit with little children as much as it’s amusing for all ages to play a round or two together.

No ship is complete without a place to get in some rigorous physical activity, and The Rink is the perfect place to do so! Fitted with colored spotlights, this arena is fitted with all sorts of sports stuff that shifts throughout the day. For a few hours, it’s a basketball court, then, poof! It shifts to tennis, or racketball, or even a roller skating rink! And in the evening, it is of course open to Pokemon battles! Feel like hosting an impromptu tourney in your friend group with your best partners? This is the place to do it!

...And oh, don’t worry. We didn’t forget the most essential cruise amenity of all. Shuffle board courts can be found where you least expect them, and are always maintained by at least one friendly-looking elderly staff member willing to show you or your Pokemon the ropes. It’d be criminal not to make sure everyone has access to this timeless and treasured activity!

AND ONCE YOU'RE DONE PARTYING HARD...

Rejuvination is the core to the SS Aqua’s Max Revive Spa Center. Equipped with saunas, mineral soaks, and fancy mud masks, you’ll feel like a new ‘Mon once you emerge from their pampering. There’s even a special Trainer and Pokemon massage package for those of you who would like to try and improve your bond with one of your partners. Does it work? Only one way to find out...

While they may not have a specific name, the outdoor deck lounges can be found most everywhere on the outer decks, offering peaceful views of the ocean and any land in the distance that the ship might pass. These decks are awesome places to work on your tan or read a book or chat with a friend without disturbing others or being disturbed, and hold wonderfully atmospheric aesthetics for anyone looking to spot breaching sea Pokemon or take pictures.

MYSTERY ENCOUNTER

As Sunday evening drifts in over the S.S. Aqua, the boat is in the process of making its long, leisurely turnaround to start heading back in the direction of Olivine City.

The weather's been wonderful so far-- not too cold (at least not during the day) and mostly clear.

But where there's only been beautiful open ocean before now, ahead of the cruise ship now is fog and dark, choppy waters.

At first, it just seems like a little inclement weather, and partygoers just head indoors or below deck and let the rain patter down above without a second thought.

That is, until the first of the whirlpools is spotted off the starboard bow. While the Whirl Islands have been visible off in the distance once or twice, the travel invitations were very clear about the fact that the ship's route would stay well clear of them.

Worry always spreads fast on a ship, even a ship as huge as the S.S. Aqua, so fortunately it's not long before the captain's voice comes on over the intercom.

"Ahoy there, passengers, this is your Captain speaking. As you can see, we're spotting some unexpected activity outside. While we are passing some small rocky land masses at the moment, they do not belong to the string of islands known as the Whirl Islands, so the whirlpools are highly unusual! As my first mate is fond of saying, 'There's two S's in S.S. Aqua, and they both stand for 'Safety'!' As such, we're in the process charting a new route to safely avoid any hazards in the water, and have officially closed the Winged Mirage Pools until we determine it's safe to re-open them. In the meantime, please feel free to enjoy any of our other services and amenities and we apologize for any inconvenience."

True to his word, the ship manages to NOT wind up plunging into any whirlpools-- but the treacherous waters show no sign of clearing up, either.

It's about nine PM when the first person spots it-- a gleaming silver tail with two dark spikes protruding from the end of it arch gracefully over the water and then disappear as its owner dives back under.

Anyone who's seen it before will recognize it immediately, and anyone who hasn't, well, they can probably make an educated guess. But in the event that they can't, gasps of "IT'S LUGIA!" spread around the ship even faster than worry does.

It's then that the intercom sounds off again, this time with the voice of the first mate.

"Attention, passengers. A Legendary Pokemon has been spotted, presumably the cause of the unusual water phemonena. It seems that our very own Lugia has taken a bit of an evening trip outside its usual territory! While we know this is exciting, and it hasn't shown any signs of aggression towards the ship itself, in the interest of not aggravating it for the safety of all on board we will be continuing our route AROUND the area. The captain also requests that anyone with experience or knowledge of Legendaries, as well as anyone whose Pokemon are capable of using the moves Defog or Whirlpool please report to his quarters. Everyone else, please remain calm and we will keep you all updated as the situation unfolds!"

The ship shortly makes a sharp turn (or as sharp as a cruise ship can make) to skirt the edges of the fog as best as it can-- but glimpses of Lugia in the water outside can still be seen, and with increasing frequency.

And, as some may note, increasing agitation.

That silvery tail occasionally slaps the water hard enough to cause waves too small to pose any harm to the ship, but certainly big enough to be felt-- and deep, resonating cries make the wineglasses in the Shiny Corsola clitter against each other. Lugia is not happy.

But... why?

Yes yes yes yes yes YES!!! Forget partying. Parties stink. It's Lugia time now. In fact the only reason Ford isn't in the water immediately, safety be damned, is that he has to hold back his idiot invisible water chameleon. Wells is prepared to fight god and absolutely shouldn't given that he's a literal baby and can't even use moves.

So instead Ford's going to make a beeline to talk to the captain with something completely invisible and Very Angry tucked under one arm. After last prom he wasn't going to not bring at least one or two good fighters. Scylla knows Whirlpool and is not only prepared to fight god but high enough level to maybe actually hold her own, so she's a perfect choice to send out into the choppy waves.

As for ideas? Best guess is there's something in Lugia's usual nesting spot that drove it out and that's what has its dander up. Fixing that would involve trying to investigate the Whirl Islands, though, which is probably out of the question. The other option is Lugia is trying to drive the boat in a particular direction for some reason, which is both more interesting and more alarming.

That's what leads Ford to pacing back and forth around the ship's railing, trying to spot a pattern in the surf and the position of the whirlpools. Lugia is making the weather. Is it making the weather with intent?

Wells is still under his arm, squirming and wailing loudly. Father let me fight!!!

[Hooooly shit. The boat from Johto to Kanto has nothing on this baby.

Day 1 of prom, Venkman is just going fucking wild. Listen. Listen. Last week Egon and Ray got high on Parasect 'shrooms and left him to deal with their mistakes. Tonight? They're dealing with his.

But no one cares about that. You see, at some point in the early afternoon, shortly after the boat takes off for open waters, Venkman starts hanging around the Articuno Pool- mostly sunbathing and sipping martinis, dozing off a little. This is the point where most of his Pokemon sneak away to do their own thing.

What are they doing, exactly?

Roach, his Golisopod, is one of the only two Pokemon to stick close to his trainer, nervously supervising and chittering as Venkman gets progressively drunker throughout the night. He's definitely carrying his dumbass trainer to his room tonight. Venkman's Scorbunny, Trix, is just as much as a homebody, spending most of the day in Roach's many, many arms. If she happens to see any other swarm Pokemon from the crash, however, she'll perk up and try to say hello, albeit nervously. But in the early afternoon, the two of them do wander off a bit, towards a flock of Wingull perched on the boat. What's that about?

The Dodrio, better knows as The Critics, are absolutely as far away from their trainer as possible. They spend some time lounging in the Zapdos Pool, basking in some brief relaxation time away from Venkman. That night, however... Of course they go to Sudowoodo Centerstage, and of course they're gonna judge every single person who dares go up on that stage. Have you ever been booed by an ostrich before? Do you want to?

His recently captured Mantine, who still-more-recently has been dubbed Alfred, is following the ship from the water. If you happen to have any large Water Pokemon, they might run into each other. Or if someone falls overboard. But that's probably not gonna happen, right?

Venkman's Solosis, Camille, is doing her damnedest to knock people overboard. The instant Venkman takes his eyes off of her, she's floating away to anyone even close to the edge of the deck and just headbutting them with all her strength. Luckily, Camille's a baby, and she's only level 1, so she hasn't actually succeeded yet in her nefarious plans, much to her own disappointment. Don't worry, at some point she'll give up. At which point she'll turn to other forms of mayhem, such as stealing food and breaking wine glasses.

Speaking of mayhem, Luca isn't letting a cruise stop her from causing a little chaos. Sure, her spraypaint can got confiscated when she got caught trying to use the ship as a canvas, but it's fine, that doesn't mean she can't still have some fun. The Squirtle settles for splurging on tokens at the Mystery Egg Arcade and proceeding to just. Toss entire armfuls of tokens into crowds of people. The tokens were already like, extremely low-priced, but she's still redistributing that wealth like a good comrade. Luca can also be found anywhere small children and baby Pokemon can be found- the Phanpy's Putting Green, for example. If you happen to have a baby Pokemon with you, you might find an anarchist turtle keeping a watchful eye on it, or outright approaching them to try to make friends. She's... probably a good influence?

Like most guests, Cecil first visits his room, both to set his luggage down and to change into something more appropriate. At the same time, his darling Rosie is inspecting every corner of the bathroom, though its cleanliness appears to please her. But their distraction leaves the rest of the team unsupervised...

Should you walk by a certain open door, a Banette might stop you and almost politely ask your Pokémon to bring some of your room's soaps. Pokémon (and trainers) who agree to do so will be invited to come in, and to join a Palossand and a Scorbunny who are building what looks like a lovely soap castle. But be quick about it, before their trainer and eldest sister come out...


Nido-King and Queen Ballroom

Dancing has always been one of Cecil's favorite prom activities, and this year is no exception. Wearing a midnight blue tuxedo embroidered with a silver stars-and-moon pattern, he follows the rhythm of every song without a single care, and does not hesitate to ask his neighbors to join him.

You have two left feet, or limbs that are not suited for waltzing? You're in luck! Cecil learned how to dance from Baron's best tutors and street strippers, and he's wearing very good shoes. Step on those toes as much as you like!


Mantine Maritime Library

Cecil can also be found in the library, surrounded by as many encyclopedias concerning Water-types as his arms can carry. (That's about half a dozen, for the record. Those books are thick.) According to his occasional muttering, he's looking for a specific species, one he's unable to find. Could this be related to those unknown sobbing lizards, who have made themselves scarce over the last few days?

One book in the pile is unlike the others: a compilation of sailors' tales, most of them concerning Legendary sightings during foggy, moonless nights...


Outdoor Decks

Who could possibly spend the whole weekend on a cruise ship without enjoying the sunshine? Not Cecil, that's for certain. It's been so long since he last had the opportunity to spend the afternoon napping while listening to the waves and cries of sea Pokémon! He should be careful, though, if he stays there too long he'll turn redder than a Krabby...

...Or will he? People walking by throughout the afternoon will find him just as pale as he was in the morning, free of both sunburn and tan. What kind of crazy high SPF sunscreen is he using? What is his secret?

Luca immediately heeds the Banette's request, slipping into Venkman's hotel room and scooping up as many soap bars as she can find and carry. Trix, watching this, asks what's going on, and Luca gently takes the Scorbunny by the paw and offers to show her. The Squirtle ducks out of the room, unnoticed by Venkman... for the time being.

The two of them walk into Cecil's room and Luca's tail wags a little from excitement. Sculptures. She's good at those! She dumps the soap bars on the floor and offers her services, while Trix stands a little further back, curious but nervous.]

This. Is. AMAZING!

Rose has always been impressed with the ingenuity and creativity of human beings, and she suspects she always will be. Look at this ship they'd come up with! It's like a floating town devoted to fun! There's so much to do...how can she possibly fit it all into a single weekend?

Well, no time to waste!

1 - Swim Time!

Rose is no stranger to water, or aquatic pastimes. But she has yet to go in the water since coming to this planet and being turned into a human. But she's ready! Sporting a brand new bathing suit that shows off her pink gem navel ring and accompanied by her Bidoof and Psyduck, Rose heads right for the Moltres Pool.

And the slides.

Anyone on the upper deck - or possibly outside at all - will hear the loud, delighted scream of pleasure as Rose shoots down a waterslide for the first time in her human life. She's going so fast! She didn't realize humans could go this fast!

Apologies to anyone in the pool when eight feet and two hundred something pounds of giant woman plunges at high speed into the water.

When not shooting herself at breakneck pace down water slides, Rose will be playing in the pool itself with Doofy and Ducky - the former who has a Magikarp inner tube affixed about his waist.

2 - Sing Time!

How can she possibly resist the stage? Watching all the different singers and actors, human and Pokemon alike, it's wonderful!

When she realizes that anyone can get up and perform...her eyes light up and she literally gasps. Hopefully the current audience enjoys psychedelic progressive rock, because they're about to be treated to select highlights from the catalog of one Mr. Greg Universe.

Rose may not have the music for any, but she doesn't need the music. She has her voice and the words and the words are the important thing anyway. And if she sees anyone she knows - or who happens to pass close enough by and make eye contact - she's hauling them on stage with her.

3 - DANCING TIME!

This is it. This is The Main Event, as far as Rose is concerned. She's in her prom dress, flowers in her hair, ballet slippers on her feet. She'd asked for dancing shoes, this is what she'd ended up with. She really isn't sure what to expect - she's never been to a human party quite like this, and dances back on Homeworld...they were nothing like this.

Her eyes widen in delight when she sees the ballroom. Despite being properly accompanied by her human date, Doofy is also joining her, dressed in a little Bidoof sized tuxedo. And while she's attending with Dandy, and will certainly be dancing with him for a good portion of the time she spends in the ballroom, she's eager to dance with anyone and everyone who'd like to.

And she's certainly hard to miss, considering her size and the overwhelming bright pinkness, and how enthusiastically she gives herself over to the dancing. Despite her size, she knows how to move!

4 - Misc

And of course, with so much to do, Rose can be found anywhere else on the ship. Gushing over the variety at the buffet, trying the games in the arcade, clambering up the climbing wall, enthusiastically learning the fine art of shuffleboard or roller skating...

[It's prom.

It's prom.

It's back. And it's on a big boat, yes, sure, okay, that's a little scary, but Thida's worked shifts on Salmon Run for Grizzco, it's. It's actually an upgrade of a scenario here, and she doesn't have to fight rabid fish hillbillies, so her mind is at least 98% at ease.

Over the course of the three days at sea, you can find Thida in the following:

There's some time in the morning, before it gets too crowded, where she lingers at the Zapdos Pool so Oku the Octillery can get a nice swim in. She watches as her very own bright red octopus enjoys a calm jaunt in the water, shying away from any boisterous early-risers. Thida herself is sitting in a nearby chair, legs crossed, her Dad's old beat-up guitar out as she strums, tunes, and eventually jams out a beat. She's far enough from the water that she's likely not to get splashed, but...actually, it's kind of nice, live music during a swim. Maybe she takes requests?

Meals are always taken at the Wailord's Bounty, and while Thida can eat a fair amount of food, she's more than likely to pop by your table and plunk down a...kind of tea saucer full of some kind of random food in front of you. It might be a berry carved into a fancy looking bird, it might be a pretty dessert, it might literally be a scoop of rice and beans. Either way, she says,] Try it! It's good! Never saw stuff this way.

[She's very easy to please and impress.

But anyway. A lot of time is spent cycling between Radical Croconaw Cove, Mystery Egg Arcade, and The Rink, because these are the coolest places to be. The super cool teen hangout is the exact kind of 90's cheese aesthetic that Inklings seem to love, and while she's terrible at every retro video game there, she still attempts to play them with a lot of eagerness. The arcade games, on the other hand, are easier for her to gauge and win at, and you'll likely find her watching your own progress at some of the more hand-eye coordination games, quietly placing a long ribbon of tickets in your earned pile when she thinks you're not looking, if you happen to suck at it. And sports? Oh man, Thida is so happy to sports. Maika the Malamar psychically dribbles a basketball nearby as Thida practices her own moves, and while they're not typical feints or dribbles, she's still moving with some purpose and confidence.

Of course, when dance time comes, you'll find her at the Nido-King and Queen Ballroom, decked out in a spunky, sparkly dress, dancing like nobody's business. Can you keep up with this small teen child? Are you willing to make the attempt?]

[So, while Prom seems to be REALLY HIGH MAINTENANCE AND EXCITING literally every time Jane has attended, she's actually hoping it'll be chill and low-key this year, especially since it's on a cruise ship? She's never actually cruised before, it's a little exciting. Though, to avoid being a stereotypical first-timer, she's taking things slow.

While the Moltres Pool is bound to be mobbed with people swimming with their Pokemon, Jane can't help but be among them, at least in the morning with Dinah the Audino. She helps her partner get used to the feeling of water all around her, fits her carefully into an SS Aqua inner tube, pushes her around gently...and Dinah looks pretty overjoyed with the special attention, though she gets the hang of kicking her feet soon enough and bobs over to lots of other Pokemon to make friends. Jane is always behind, though, poolside-ready and giggling all the while. This is fun! This is silly! This is not in a million years what she thought nineteen would be like, and it's pretty amazing.

Phanpy's Putting Green is...criminally cute. Absurdly cute. It's under arrest for cuteness overload, and the only way to reduce the sentence is with Jane playing a round. It's kind of odd to see her guiding not Dinah, but Dart the Bisharp through the holes, showing him how to hold the club and what it means when you get the ball in the hole with one hit. He seems...a bit chilly towards her, as usual, but he is actually trying - still, if you're hit by a ball he sends astray, it'll be Jane coming over to apologize, looking much more concerned than her passive Pokemon for your well-being.

Barring any of these, Jane spends a lot of time on the outdoor deck lounges, doing some considerable reading. A stack of pulpy detective novels beside her, she's nose-deep in some mystery shenanigans when a Primarina breaks the waves, and Jane looks up and beams, waving to it. It's hers, actually - it's Madeline, swimming along with the larger water types and more than happy to say hello to anyone around, and Jane could not look more proud of her girl. Look at her leap, look at her go!

And, of course, prom itself in the Nido-King and Queen Ballroom is not ignored. Classy as ever with Dinah in a blue jacket to match, Jane dances with her Pokemon, and they make quite a pair, even if Jane's footwork is more swing and Dinah's just following around for the ride. Feel like cutting in?]

Moltres Pool

[Something is lurking underwater in the pool. It looks kinda like a beach ball, but it's moving with purpose, searching for a target.

There! An Audio in an inner tube. The figure moves in closer, closer...

[Camille the Solosis wriggles in Venkman's grasp, defiantly burbling. Why do you have to ruin her fun!!! She wasn't gonna really hurt her, just bite her tail a little, maybe bowl her over...]

Handsome Jack | OTA

Despite having basically no social life these days, and the world being overrun with vault hunters again, Jack's not about to pass up a luxury cruise weekend. It's not like it's going to interfere with any of his plans. Hell, he'll even behave! Mostly. He did bring four of his specially trained Meowth, and intends to let them wander around and pilfer as they please.

The only other Pokemon he brought with him are Taylor Swift the Furfrou and Havoc the Houndoom.

Zapdos Pool

Jack has no intention of swimming himself. In fact, he's wearing a short sleeved button down shirt over his swimming trunks and is hanging out on a lounge in the Pokemon pool area while Havoc and Taylor Swift enjoy the facility. He's just here to supervise, thank you. Or half-doze with his sunglasses on in a lounge chair, whatever.

Taylor Swift - the elaborately groomed debutante Furfrou - has no such reservations. Behold as she divests herself of her poolside sundress, jewelry, sunglasses, and hairpiece. The canine Pokemon has a larger wardrobe than plenty of humans. Everything is set in a pile beside Jack's lounger and arranged neatly with one painted paw. She makes a production of it. The same with her walk to the pool itself, tossing her head and swishing her tail and letting out high pitched 'fur!'s every few steps to make sure she's being paid attention to.

When she reaches the pool's edge she dips one paw in gingerly, backs up, takes a graceful leap...

And splats into the pool with all four legs out.

Whoops.

Around the Ship

While not interested in swimming, Jack does check out the arcade and the spa and finds both to his liking, choosing to spend a good deal of time between both. Usually with his dog Pokemon at his side. Even at the spa - how can he pass up a Pokemon and Trainer massage session with Tswift?

And while he does drop by the prom proper in the ballroom - sporting a black blazer and black slacks paired with his yellow Hyperion shirt - the music and vibe in the discotheque is more to his tastes. And his dancing. His awkward, flailing dancing. It's bad. Jack cannot dance. He's more likely to garner pity or scare away any potential dance partners. But hey, maybe he'll get lucky.

In any sense of the word.

Zapdos Pool

[Luca the Squirtle pokes her head up from the pool as TSwift approaches. She spots the giant pile of clothes and jewelry and is immediately struck with an idea.

Hey, if Jack's Meowth can run around stealing shit...

She hops out of the pool gracelessly, shaking water droplets off of herself. Luca looks around for any potential witnesses... And if it looks like she has an opportunity, she'll casually meander over to the pile and pick up the first piece of jewelry she sees.]

Egon Spengler | Ghostbusters | OTA

[alternative title: hey look its that guy who ate weird parasect mushrooms on a livestream last week

One thing that's important to note about Egon Spengler is that he does not "party". At least, not...in the traditional sense. He'll go to parties if his partners go, of course, and he'll act accordingly, but he doesn't particularly derive that much joy from this social exercise. He'd rather be in a non-crowded, non-overwhelming place performing various experiments of dubious nature, preferably with Ray or Venkman. And, understandably so, the staff here aren't particularly inclined to deal with that and the resulting damage that would inevitably occur.

His intentions of this cruise are twofold: one, to spend time with his partners, and two, prove that aliens don't exist and any "attack" rumored to occur actually can be traced to other (existing) supernatural phenomena. The first part is pretty much guaranteed--the second part is going to be the more difficult part.

Of course, his attitude completely turns around and he gets extremely sidetracked once he actually makes his way to Wailord's Bounty. Faraday the Trevenant and Riley the Trapinch trail close behind him as he makes his way to every station--yes, every station--to pile his plate up with food. The man's metabolism goes a mile a minute to keep up with his brain. While his back is turned, Faraday keeps stealing handfuls of food from his plate and feeding them to Riley, who happily munches down on these offerings.

Although he does end up inhaling most of the food placed on his plate, not all of the food is for nutrition purposes. There's plenty of interesting science that goes into nutrition and food, and Egon intends to learn as much as he can while he's here. While mingling in Wailord's Bounty, you may find yourself suddenly approached by a rather tall, serious, bespectacled man with a clipboard in hand.]

I'm conducting a survey on the nutrition of this dimension and how it compares to other dimensions. Do you mind answering a few questions for me?

[The rest of the cruise is mostly spent on the top deck, accompanied by Kölliker the Reuniclus. It seems as though he's set up a makeshift weather station on one edge of the deck, much to the chagrin of the staff on duty. Various pieces boxy-looking machinery has been stacked on top of each other, beeping and whirring with various types of incoming data on the air pressure, wind, humidity...so on and so forth. A network of interwoven wires creep across the devices like some sort of strange neural network (and cause a rather obvious tripping hazard). How did he even bring all of this equipment through security???

Egon's changed into his Ghostbusting uniform--can't be too careful if there are supernatural creatures around, can you? He spends most of his time staring down at his PKE meter, which is hooked up to some sort of small satellite dish-like device sitting on top of the tower of electronics. Kölliker floats from one device to another, notebook in hand, watching the data come in and writing down her observations. Egon seems pretty distracted--it might take a bit of prodding for him to actually respond to anything being said to him.

The main attraction of the prom, of course, is the dancing, and Egon eventually finds himself in the Nido-King and Queen Ballroom. Unfortunately, as stated earlier, Egon doesn't really party, which means he doesn't really...dance. At least, not without reason. It doesn't help that the last time he actually "danced" was when he was switched into Ray's body during the unusual incident involving Rotom infiltrating the network.

Fun times.

He's currently standing on the far edge of the room, fiddling with a drink in his hand, trying to look inconspicuous. He would have succeeded, if not for the fact he was wearing this godawful suit that makes him stand out like the huge nerd he is. When he inevitably gets approached by someone, he just inclines his head towards them and says in a tone that sort of signifies "please don't interact with me in any way"--]

...Hello. Um. I hope you're enjoying yourself.

[He takes a small sip of his drink before falling silent again.]

Zapdos Pool
[You may see Yuuko hovering around the edges of the pool to keep an eye on Flip the Dewgong, who's happily swimming around in circles in whichever tier is colder. She usually takes trips out to the Lake of Rage to let Flip swim, but this is a nice change of pace for both of them.]

Nidoking and Queen Ballroom
[Yuuko will mainly be chaperoning here, but at some point she'll go out and do some dancing herself. She's wearing a black dress with matching heels, and while she can be spotted dancing with Biellmann the Swanna (who insists on showing everyone his graceful dance moves; he is a contest winner, after all), she'll be happy to chat or have someone else cut in.]

Phanpy's Putting Green
[...okay, she couldn't pass this one up. The whole place is just so darn cute. She really wishes the triplets were here, because they'd definitely love to play some mini-golf. In the meantime, right now she's just helping Killian the Zoroark learn how to putt properly.]

Newt had been more then a little nervous coming to another prom considering the last one could charitably be called, monsters attacked and Newt's PTSD took over. However, she's trying to push things and it's been a year so you can find Newt in a lot of places.


Swimming
It's not something she's done much off. So you can find her in the shallower parts of the pools. Practicing. She may be thinking about trying a water slides but she's not sure.

If she sees you at the pool she might pull you over to ask.

"Are the people screaming because the water slides hurt?"

Nido-King and Queen Ballroom
Newt isn't the best at dancing but hey, she has a nice dress from last year that she'll put back into use. You can find her dancing with her pokemon. Well "dancing" but hey, they look like they're having fun, so that's the important part.

[Dandy is absolutely the kind of person who would jump at the chance to take on a free cruise, possible jellyfish attacks be damned. And as a lover of all things Hawaii and tropical, he's definitely dressed for the occasion. Yeah, that's right, he knows who he is. He even wears his little comfey as a stand-in lei, only this time it's appropriate. It's party time, baby.]

Moltres Pool

[Although Dandy would've liked to spend his time figuring out Pokémon surfing, a dip in the pool with his little monsters didn't sound like a bad idea. He even remembered to pack some swim trunks so he can be the prettiest boy in the pool.

The only problem is that most of his "little" monsters are quite large monsters, and Ass Rat and Honolulu Hot Wings apparently had more important things to do. So it's just him and Martini, his little deino, splashing about as they work on her doggie paddle.

She's definitely a cave dwelling Pokémon, nothing about this feels natural, but she feels safe with Dandy. She strains as she kicks her legs, trying to get some kinda motion going.]

C'mon Martini, you fight the freakin' ocean all the time. You're gonna tell me a pool's gonna beat you...

[T-That's right! She does like to bite at the surf whenever they go to the beach. With a little more motivation, Martini kicks it into high gear, playfully bumping into her trainer and celebrating her tiny victory. It's kind of funny, with the way the water brings Dandy's hair down and causing bangs to stick all over his face, the two of them look a lot alike...]

Wailord's Bounty (Ass Rat)

[Ass Rat wasn't much for swimming, she's a gigantic skuntank after all. With all that fluff, the water would only weigh her down and make her look ridiculous, so she was fine giving Dandy and Martini time to play by themselves. It gave her time to explore the ship, something she never thought she'd be able to do in a million years. She was a street Pokémon back in Goldenrod for most of her life, who would've thought SHE'D ever be in a fancy place like this?

A bell around her neck jingles as she roams, a gift from her trainer and the only thing keeping her from having a heart attack right now. After all, if she's wearing something, then people know she belongs to someone and won't kick her off for being some kinda stowaway!! Haha... Okay, so it's a lingering worry having spent years getting chased out of trash cans, but Ass Rat tries to keep her mind off of it. She's a welcomed guest she repeats in her head before finally catching something that peaks her interest.

Food.

A whole bunch of delicious looking food. Her mouth waters as she rushes inside, but without her trainer, she doesn't exactly have a way to get a plate for herself. She's gonna have to...ask for help.

The only problem is she's a skunk almost the size of a horse, not exactly the champion beggar type. Somehow that doesn't stop her from making puppy dog eyes at the nearest person. Someone help a hungry gal out??]

Ballroom

[What some might call the main event, and Dandy is totally dressed for the occasion. He's done this song and dance before, don't think for one second he doesn't already consider himself the prom king. He's even managed to score a date...somehow. Yup, it's good to be king.

In a weird turn of events, it's Dandy's deino Martini who seems to take a big interest in the dance as well. Wearing something completely out of character for her, the usually rough and tumble dragon looks absolutely elegant tonight. She's even managed to refrain from tearing up her dress! Or anything, for that matter!

Instead, she pretends to be the perfect little socialite, making chattering noises that are supposed to be pleasant conversations, offering her...um, front paw to anything who acknowledges her.]

You gotta kiss her hand... [Dandy will inform the unlucky victim Martini's decided to play her games with.] And you gotta call her "Lady Martini" or else she's gonna bite your balls off.

[Martini smiles. She will absolutely bite your balls off.]

Just to make sure she doesn't ...jinx anything. Alex has left any pokemon named after anyone or thing related to the sinking of the Kanaloa back in the pc. It just feels...safer that way. But she's here. She's avoiding the edges of the ship and really hoping they don't sink but she's here.

Rock Wall!
Okay, Alex loves climbing, mostly out in nature but she'll take what she can get. So you can find her multiple times on the rock wall. Usually doing jumps and things that might get her yelled at by the safety people because what is restraint.

She never looks out at the view at the top though. Just gets there and comes down, probably to do it again.

"I really wish we had some of these on land."

Nido-King and Queen Ballroom
Hey, someone is here for the prom experience, since she'll probably never get her real one at home. So she took some time to spiffy up with a teal dress. She's still a bit uncertain so she's mostly hanging around the edges of the dance floor.

Radical Croconaw Cove
Alex is exploring the video games and also board games. After a while she'll find an interesting one or two and wave anyone over.

So Alex has a thing about things sinking and also drowning. You can therefore find her talking to anyone in charge about what the drills are if something DOES happen to the ship. You know just in case. They mostly seem to be trying to reassure her.

Rock Wall

Annie finds the harnesses for the rock wall to be familiar in a way, though it all feels too short and far too easy after scaling cliff faces during her time as a trainee. Then again, at least these aren't ledges. She might have a way to cheat the world on those nowadays, but the fact that people can be prevented from climbing up certain geographical features continues to be a small burr under the saddle of life.

She catches Alex's words after having checked her ropes, casting her a side glance. "What, the easy climbing surfaces, or the people telling you that's not how rappelling works in the first place?"

Coming from the teenager standing there in a gown even when it's not yet Prom Night it's probably a bit of an amusing statement. Sometimes luggage has accidents. And sometimes the only clothes you ended up having were formalwear, but it all works out, sort of.

The first thing anyone will notice upon finding Jack is that he's wearing socks with sandals. He's also almost always in some kind of Hawaiian shirt and a pair of bermuda shorts as well, and some large, oversized sports sunglasses.

He can be found in a variety of places on the cruise ship. While Radical Croconaw Cove advertises itself as for the younger party goers, Jack has found some of the retro games and he has firmly planted himself in its corner. If and when he eventually gets kicked out, he'll swipe one of the handheld ones to play as he walks through the ship.

He and specifically his Grookey, Athena, can be found at Shuckle's Challenge as well. Athena seems delighted to be able to flex her climbing muscles, but if she or Jack gets too much attention she quickly clambers onto his shoulders and... climbs into his shirt to hide, since he isn't wearing a hoodie for her to hide in.

The place Jack will be found the most? Phanpy's Putting Green. Jack is an avid golfer and despite it only being mini golf and, well, not that competitive, he's still going to challenge and attempt to beat multiple people at the spot. And maybe accidentally whack a few balls off into the ocean before he gets permanently banned from the fake green.

He can be found during breakfast and lunch at Wailord's Bounty, but come dinner time he's exchanged the clothing for blue slacks and a light blue button-down shirt, and black dress shoes, to dine at the Mother-of-Clamperl's tables with his group of Pokemon.

Athena the Grookey, Bandit the Midnight Lycanroc, and Crybaby the Skitty can usually be found at Jack's side. Sometimes, however, Crybaby appears to have forsaken Jack for a particular Wailord off the side of the ship. She might be found on a lower deck's balcony or even on top of Princess, singing her sweet nothings.

Jolene the shiny Sylveon can be found alongside Jack, most of the time, but occasionally breaks off to investigate the Mantine Maritime Library, immersing herself in reading the occasional book. She's also the type to curious poke at you or your pokemon.

Bodhi the Brionne and Fatboy Slim the (extra-rotund) Dewgong can be found in the Zapdos pool, or swimming alongside the ship. Bodhi in particular is quite an outgoing young man and will play with any person or Pokemon. Slim is really just interested in being petted or getting food.

At prom, Jack is dressed to the nines in a fine blue suit that happens to have a fun secret inside. He'll keep it buttoned up, however. He's mostly acting as a chaperone in case of disaster, but, well, he knows how to dance and if asked, he's more than happy to do so.

Athena has a little pink bow tie around her neck, and Crybaby has a larger blue bow that sits on the back of her neck. Jolene hasn't dressed up, but she does have more blue and pink bows to offer anyone. Bodhi has a little black tie on, and Fatboy seems to have been put back in his Pokeball.

Bandit, however, is looking dashing in a black vest and white t-shirt combo, complete with a loose tie.

Lockjaw the Feraligatr is having a nice time splashing and gliding around in the Zapdos pool, while his trainer watches from the poolside. Krieg's swimwear consists of a pair of knee-length swim trunks - orange, and dotted liberally with a cute Totodile pattern - and a set of beat-up flip flops. He's having a great time watching Lockjaw do his thing when something huge and white deckside catches his eye.

Ooooooooh my gosh, that is the fattest water dog ever! And he wants to be pet? Holy skagsacks, yes Krieg is going to pet this fat water dog! Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?? It's Fatboy Slim!

He places his ever-present Darumaka buddy on one shoulder, where the little guy grips the strap of his mask and a handful of his hair, and crouches down next to the world's fattest Dewgong.

"What's up, big guy? You wanna be pet?"

He politely presents both of his hands for Slim's inspection, and once permission for pets seems to be granted, the petting commences!!

Apparently a 'prom' involves dancing? Well good luck with that. However she did give in and dress up slightly. Basically this, but its left sleeves have been cut off. Because it's possible sirens may be allergic to wearing clothing on their left arm.

Mystery Egg Arcade
Somehow she found her way to an arcade. Possibly due to her pokemon or just curiosity. She's more used to slot machines. So she'll be poking her way around. Possibly on her way to earning some nice toy at the rate she's going. She certainly has sharp eyes, steady hands and risk taking to her name.

Krieg's doing his best to be patient and give Maya the time she needs to explore the entire small library, but....well, he's Krieg. He's gone through all of the picture books he's found and shared those with his 'mons, and inspected and rejected several marine biology and maritime technical text books. He's ready to go do something else, but he doesn't want to go without Maya. All told, she's had about an hour to herself at this point (which, considering Krieg? That's a lot. Look at that character growth!), so clearly it's time to check in.

Investigating
So considering the last prom. Dipper is going to keep an eye open for anything that might scream, giant portal/monster pokemon attack. This is mostly him going around the ship with a notebook making notes of anything odd.

He's being followed around by a Gotherita who is just trying to keep him out of trouble and from sneaking into areas of the ship he's not supposed to be. Or giving up and following him so you know, he doesn't get in more trouble.

And he ends up in the libray of course. You can find Dipper in here, taking copious notes of anything odd or strange. Mysterious or legendary that he can find. Some of it is being written in code because that is just how Dipper is.

You might hear him talking to an Elgyem on the table next to him.

"This would be a lot easier if the locals cared more about trying to solve the mysteries in their world."

And we escape the library to end up in the next nerd place. Old video games and board games. Dipper is looking through all of them with some interest.

Kazuki OTA

Moltres Pool:

Honky Tonk, Kazuki's Primarina, wasn't really much of a swimmer despite being a water type. Ponds and lakes were often dirty, and salt was terrible for his mane! But a pool was okay! Kazuki did his mane up in a bun for him, so he could mostly keep it out of the chlorinated water. Then he was ready to have some fun!

Kazuki used to bounce a ball off of his nose way back when he was a little Popplio, and he hadn't lost his knack for it. He threw a big beach ball to him, and Honky Tonk would hit it perfectly into a waiting basket. Kazuki was obviously thrilled-- surprisingly, most of his Pokemon weren't into sports, and it'd been a long time since he had fun playing a game like this.

"Think you could get it in from waaaay back there?" He called to his Primarina, and Honky Tonk nodded. He swam to the furthest end of the pool, and Kazuki threw the beach ball over his head with all his might to reach him.

Going... Going... Gone! Honky Tonk smacked his nose against the ball, and it flew in a perfect arc towards the basket Nothing but net!

"That was awesome!" Kazuki threw his fist in the air in jubilation, and Honky Tonk made an elegant bow. He was level 100 now, you know! He was good for more than just being pretty!

Shiny Corsola:

Kazuki liked nothing more than an excuse to dress to the nines, and it couldn't get better than a cool, jazzy nightclub! He had an outfit that he'd been waiting to wear for awhile, and this felt like a good enough debut.

Everyone around him seemed to have a drink, and since he was technically legal where he was from, Kazuki decided to give it a try. He asked for something smooth, that didn't burn too much, and maybe, y'know, tasted good? He had no idea what was in what was given to him, as it was nondescript in color, but it was more than tolerable in sips. It only made him feel a little warm. He didn't want to get drunk.

His Sensu Oricorio, Azuma, was with him, sitting on his shoulder. He was the only Pokemon he brought with him that was both small and calm enough to fit in an environment like this. Plus, he appreciated the music as much as his trainer did. He even insisted on wearing a little white bow-tie to match Kazuki's outfit.

The jazz was really good, even if it reminded him a bit of the song that were always faintly playing in the background of this world. It really made him want to play along, but it was too presumptive, even for Kazuki, to bring his trumpet down here. He could always have some time for creativity later, somewhere where he wouldn't be too much of a bother.

Kazuki felt really classy and mature, hanging out in a place like this. He wondered what someone who knew him would think if they saw him!

The Rink:

Kazuki couldn't possibly resist the chance to play some sports, even when on vacation. It was his idea of a good time no matter where he was. There was space on the courts to play tennis against a wall, and there were enough baskets to shoot some hoops on your own, but where was the fun in that?

Kazuki was ready and willing to join any game already in process, and was being an absolute pest trying to find people to play with him. He's really good, so it'd be a real challenge! Or he could join your team and help you win! Or... He'd go soft on you if you were a beginner. He wasn't that competetive.

An Altaria, named Aria, was perched up on the top of the saftey fence, watching her owner play. She didn't know he liked to run around so much, chasing after balls, sometimes hitting them with funny sticks... Humans thought of the weirdest games.

Max Revive Spa:

Whoever thought men couldn't have spa days were just plain wrong.

This was a top quality experience. Kazuki had never been so pampered in his entire life. He was wrapped up in a fluffy robe, his feet in a tiny jacuzzi, a skin mask on his face, and yes, cucumber slices on his eyelids. If it weren't for his, you know, bright green hair, he'd probably be totally unrecognizable.

Beside him, Honky Tonk was nearly in the same set-up, but he had one flipper out for an attendant to massage while he basked in the atmostphere. Nearby, his Vulpix, Kahoko, was having a luxurious brush-out of her shiny red coat, with special attention being given to her six vulumptuous tails. Kazuki normally brushed her every day, but not like this!

The chair next to Kazuki was open and waiting. He was likely to chat up anyone who would sit next to him. Sorry if he's a bother... Not sorry.

Outdoor deck:

Despite the ship being so huge, there were surprisingly few places where one could really get away from the rest of the passengers. Not that Kazuki really wanted to get away! He just didn't want to disturb anyone if he was going to play his trumpet.

Kazuki didn't actually practice very much, but he did play every day simply for the pleasure of it, which more or less counted for practice, he guessed. He brought his trumpet with him because he knew he wouldn't be able to part from it for more than a few days. And the only place he could find to play it without bothering anybody too much was out on the decks.

Thankfully, it wasn't Mozart's Allegro. Kazuki played something a little more upbeat, and fitting for a happy cruise. A Chatot was on his shoulder, singing in accompaniment. It was suprisingly good-- they must have done this together before.

As he played, there was a Lapras next to the ship, just over the rail, occassionally calling out to him. Once finished, Kazuki went to the rail to shout back.

"You're doing great, Shimizu! You're keeping up with the ship really well!"

Alex is usually more one for outside things like hiking but she has some nervous energy to burn off so she's got a basketball and is shooting hoops.

Mostly by herself but there's a Togetic that keeps trying to catch the ball and throw it back. Usually right before it gets into the hoop.

"I think we've invented a new game. Sorry, did you want a go with the hoop?"

Harry is mostly here as a chaperone. Which in his mind means making sure the place is safe. Considering his last prom was the giant monsters one, that might be warranted. Anyway. Feel free to run into him asking about life boats and said numbers of them and where proper information might be found on the matter.

Shuffleboard
He's pretty sure it's a rule you have to try this at some point when you're on a a cruise. Or maybe he just wants to see what the big fuss is. Either way you can find Harry trying to figure out that game and not doing very well.

Zapdos Pool
You know what's a great idea. Having elemental cat pokemon around water. There's a Litten who keeps getting close to the water and backing up, a Shinx who...he's trying to convince that maybe you just want to sit this one out. Please don't electrocute the pool. Meanwhile the skitty is in a floating ring and having the time of her life.

"Guys, why don't we just go somewhere less....water centered."

Cat stares are the answers he gets and the Litten moves to pat the water again.

Mantine Maritime Library
Wow, Harry found the library? What a shocker. Either way, you can find him here after he does the social thing for a while and needs a place to escape from the crowds. ...he's still not good with crowds.

He's on his way to somewhere else, with no plans that involve lingering around, but after taking a single look at the game court his brain goes what. Thus he remains, confused and perplexed, hoping to somehow divine how the whole thing works.

[Webby's never been to a prom before. Heck, she's never even been to school where they usually have proms. She's also never been on a cruise ship either. A submarine, but never a nice boat like this.

[And of course, the main event is dancing. She wears a simple, pink dress. And the place is gorgeous, and it isn't like she doesn't want to dance. It's just that once she sees people dancing together it's well...

It's that she's suddenly, painfully aware that she has no idea how to dance. She gives a nervous laugh.]

[Webby discovers where everyone has drifted off to after an evening of eating and dancing. There's a pool filled with people and people, and she's not about to be left out.

[A Pokemon adventure]

[Being fire-types, Webby's Pokemon aren't joining her at the pool, but she's left them free to wander the rest of the ship. Sir Francis Fireheart the Ponyta is currently helping himself to the buffet of food, eating any veggie that he comes across. But people can also see him picking up food and offering it to a small Scorbunny that's clinging timidly to him like glue, hiding behind the horse Pokemon's legs.]

Moltres Pool

[Ash had not expected to need to watch out for anything today, but his years of piloting have left him with decent reflexes. He's very grateful for those today, as they give him just enough time to swim away from the worst of the splashing.

Once he's certain he's safe, he looks at Webby's starting point, then at Webby herself. After a beat, he raises both arms and waves them along, holding up seven fingers as he goes. Not bad for a first try!]

THE HEAVILY ARMED BELLE OF THE BALL
Anyone who's spent any time on Island Four in the past month and a half or so will have had the chance to witness Krieg's experiment with growing out his hair. Anyone who hasn't seen Krieg for a couple of months will not have had this chance, and may be surprised to see the formerly bald man sporting a crooked, grey-white mohawk. He's also found a new mask - the new one covers just the lower half of his face. Surprise, there's nothing wrong with his right eye, he's just so committed (?) to his fashion (??) choices (???) that he willingly walked around half blind for the past two and a half years.

Pandorans.

While he's not often far from Maya, he's still pretty easy to catch on his own, accompanied at all times by a soft round Darumaka carried in the crook of one arm and a sad-looking Sylveon draped across his shoulders like some kind of living pink-and-white stole.

Wailord's Bounty
You're ding-dang right this giant beef man is taking full advantage of the all-you-can-eat buffet. Zen Doll is also taking advantage. Adorababy seems less interested, but never actually turns up his nose at choice, proffered morsels.

Also...is that...a Feraligatr? Under the table? How such a large creature stuffed itself under there is anybody's guess, though it either forgot to tuck its tail away, or it just gave up trying. Said tail swishes back and forth in a cat-like and very hazardous manner whenever a Feraligatr-sized bite of food is dropped directly into the waiting Feraligatr mouth.

Mantine Maritime Library
The library (any library) is not Krieg's jam, but it is Maya's jam, so he's here, too. He's found a picture book full of super sick illustrations of deep-sea 'Mons, which he's sharing with an audience of a Mareep and a Charizard, in addition to the persistent Sylveon-Darumaka duo. He reads the occasional caption out loud to his Pokemon in a surprisingly quiet voice. Is this Maya's influence? Probably. Look, he doesn't want to get kicked out, okay?

Nido-King and Queen Ballroom
This is only the second prom he's been to, and his first without Angel. It'd be depressing if he let himself think about it, so he doesn't. Lust has played a key role in his appearance for this fancy event; the Chippendale's bowtie of yesteryear is nowhere to be seen. He's actually tolerating the shirt, the necktie, and the suspenders surprisingly well. For the time being, at least. There are a handful of both ladies and men he will cheerfully dance with if asked, though he does default to wallflowering. Adorababy seems to have slipped off somewhere, so it's Zen Doll riding his shoulder for the time being, hanging on to the strap of Krieg's mask and also to his hair. Murder Chicken is also out, people watching and all spiffed up with...a Chippendale's bowtie.

Look, he had the silly thing, it'd be a shame to let it go to waste!

Mystery Egg Arcade
It's definitely no Slaughter Dome, but the Arcade has its charms anyway, and Krieg's pretty good at games that involve hand-eye coordination. He might just be leaving, or maybe he's just feeling generous, but either way, if he makes eye contact, he'll offer your character a handful of tickets. Like, a large handful. He's been at this a while, and the Sylveon on his shoulder and the Darumaka in his arms are sporting matching, black and white bows.

"Here! I got it started for you!"

Contrary to the commonality of most present, none of Annie's pokemon can be seen in personal attendance when she makes her casual way up to Krieg. "Up for a dance?" she says when she reaches him, lifting an eyebrow and cocking her head to the side to look at his face; even in heels (modest as they may be), Annie still looks up to most the people in the world around her.

Literally.

Metaphorically, things are, as always, more complicated.

She's in a dark blue gown with a simple neckline, falling down in clean lines that cling to her torso and flare out at her hips. She can move in this dress, which is why she choose it, and while her hair has been half braided back, half left loose to hang over her shoulders, she's kept her line of sight clear.

See, after everyone's talked about how explosive these prom situations can get, a young lady needs to be prepared. For what?

In the moment, for a dance, as she holds out a hand to Krieg and continues watching his face and listening to the room around them.

STARTING ;; about the ship
[The fact he's barred from bringing his starter is... not something Shiro is comfortable with. The last time he was at a prom, it was his starter who basically saved the day. He hasn't been without the big Aggron since he arrived here. If he'd known about the restriction to begin with, he wouldn't have even considered going. But Matt had wanted to. The others wanted to. His hair is a freshly dyed rainbow, and Haunter the Gengar is even more glued to his side than usual. Haunter, Red and Blue. Skarmory, Europa and Nebula. It's going to have to do.]

[Shiro is still wildly uncomfortable. And has taken up an unobtrusive spot along the rail for the majority of the first day. Staring out across the water until sunset. Then watching the stars once they start to wink into existence. Those... hold his attention for longer than they should.]

[Anyone passing by might startle him a bit, his head whipping around and eyes gone wide. So much for a nice, soothing vacation, at least for now.]


TRAINING DAY ;; the rock wall
[Well, at least there's something physical Shiro can do to get his mind off things. He's just glad he brought along some workout clothes. Which is exactly what he's doing, scaling the wall, with his Umbreon riding on his shoulders. A little more extra weight to wear him down, get out some of the nervous energy he can't seem to get rid of.]

[And... once he gets to the top, it's back down to try again. His Umbreon hopping daintily to the ground. If anyone happens to be watching, he might nod and ask--]

You don't happen to have any heavier pokemon than an Umbreon, huh?


SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS ;; bar
[... Okay, it's less SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS and more "try and figure out how to relax". Not a whole lot has worked so far. This is possibly the last resort. So he's sitting in a corner, staring at a single shot. It's pretty, it's mixed blue and green with a cherry on top. But Shiro is looking at it like it's a live grenade.]

[Which just means Blue the Gallade is free to skulk around the bar. He's supposed to be keeping an eye on his trainer. But instead, he's making his own fun. Possibly trying to swipe snacks, or pose for other pokemon.]

[Well. Fine. Literally nothing else has worked. And so, Haunter has taken matters into its own ghostly hands. It has dragged its trainer, with the help of Shiro's Incineroar, to one of two locations. You can witness him either being dumped into a mineral soak in the spa, or into a deck chair. Watched over by two max level pokemon. They're not going to let him go. They have a mission here, in the absence of their bigger teammate.]

[Either help him? Or laugh at him. Either way, he's not going anywhere just yet.]



FANCY DRESS PARTY ;; dancing
[And last, but not least... once his brain finally sorts itself out, he pulls on the trusty suit. Somehow, it's survived two proms now. So, maybe it'll take a third. Has he thought about changing it up? No. Never. He's added the cuff links from before, too. Despite looking sharp as heck, this year, he definitely hangs along the edges of the dancing for a while.]

[Though, once someone gets him to quit thinking about his nerves, he's not a half-bad dancer. Shiro's always been pretty light on his feet. This is a much better use of it than fighting, in his opinion.]

[Shiro might note that Harry's usual pokemon companion, Lisa the Togekiss is similarly absent from her usual spot at Harry's side. Instead he's got a rather protective looking Noctowl by him.]

Marco is taking his time to enjoy all the amenities that he can while he's on board the ship. He's usually found wandering around wearing tan slacks and sandals, with either a white t-shirt or a linen button-down on. And a giant, over sized straw hat to keep him from catching a sunburn.

He trades the clothes for dark blue swim trunks in the Moltres pool. Viola the Alolan Ninetails is resting on a lounge chair nearby, while Marco plays with Teddy, his Furret, and Rowana, his Lileep, in the pool.

Nearby them, on the edge, is Dylan the Sobble, holding her newfound friend Mochi the Pyukumuku in her lap. Should you approach Dylan and startle her, she'll be turning Mochi on you. Hope you like fist-shaped guts going fast at your face!

Other times, he can be found checking out the Mystery Egg Arcade. He doesn't seem to be particularly good at the digital games, things like sinking basketballs or feats of strength or dexterity seem to rake in the tickets for him.

Of course, he's always down for a game of air hockey... even if he seems to lose, always, while getting super into trying to defend his goal.

He and his Pokemon can also be found at the various Shuffle board locations, with the addition of Lucia the Arcanine.

As for what his Pokemon get up to while they're on board...

Dylan sticks close to her trainer, but she's quite the little spitfire. She makes her way down to the rink in the evening, trying to start fights with other Pokemon and crash survivors... frequently by squeezing Mochi in their direction until she literally spills her guts with a little pyu!

The cucumber doesn't seem to mind. She enjoys punching.

Viola is frequently found sunning herself or taking a small swim in the available pools, and sticks there regardless of if Marco's around or not. Lucia, however, makes a habit of wandering into the Wailord's bounty and begging for treats, even if she's almost too massive to pull it off.

Teddy is the Pokemon who learned Surf, so he's frequently found swimming alongside the ship, when he's not draped over Marco's shoulders.

As for Rowana? When she's not in the water with Viola, she's attaching herself to ceilings and using her tendrils to grab things or bother passerby. She changes up where she is, but she can usually be found nearby or inside bathrooms, above the doors to the buffet, and in small viewing hallways.

Prom time is the exciting part. All of Marco's pokemon are in attendance with him, though most of them haven't dressed up. Viola, however, has, and she would definitely like to have this dance with you!

Marco himself is looking sharp in a black suit and tie. He's more than happy to dance or chat with anyone who's around, and actually seems to be garnering quite the social circle around him.

Prom!

Kazuki had been looking forward to the actual dance as well-- He hadn't had the excuse to put on his nines since the last Prom, and he was thrilled to finally be able to participate again. He had one outfit that he'd never worn before, bought here in the Pokemon world, and he looked rather dapper in it!

The Pokemon that were with him were Honky Tonk, his Primarina, who would never miss this for the world, and his Vulpix, Kahoko, who also liked a fancy time. Tonks wasn't wearing anything, since he looked like he was wearing a ball gown naturally, but Kahoko had a deep red ribbon tied around her neck to match her coat, which was a deeper red than most Kanto Vulpix.

"Marco!" Kazuki and his Pokemon approached once the circle around him had cleared somewhat. He was holding a champagne flute-- he'd never really drank before, but he was of age now, and this stuff was pretty good! "It's great to see you here! Are you having a good time?"

Honky Tonk stiffly greeted Viola. He knew when he had a rival in front of him, and he definitely wasn't going to lose out on a beauty contest... That wasn't really being held, but the whole world was a stage to the Primarina.

[The boy]

[Despite his misgivings about prom, Armin is here. His talk with Cecil had given him a bit more perspective on prom (and mainly on the fact that it is not always a disaster) which had made him a little more confident about attending. And well, if it does go terribly, horribly wrong, they are going to need someone with some large water pokemon to get off this boat. And who better than the guy with a couple of Wailords? Honestly, Armin would never forgive himself if something were to go down and he wouldn’t be here! So suspicious or not, he is here.

Throughout the trip, Armin will be moving around, but there are a few places he returns to often. First on that list is the decks. It is in part to be on the look-out for signs of trouble, but it is also in part because Armin just loves the ocean. And staying up here, where he can feel the sea wind in his hair, watch the waves and watch the water pokemon play among them? After so much time away from the seas, he’s definitely drinking in the experience again. But also being ever vigilant. You just never know, okay!

Eventually, once he has calmed down a bit and has started to relax, Armin can also be found in the Mantine Maritime Library. It is a library, after all, and he is a boy who loves his books. Especially these books about nautical journeys. He should remain vigilant and make sure nothing terrible happens, but sometimes it is just hard to remember that when you are deeply engrossed in the journal of some ancient captain who was the first to discover the Sevii islands. So deeply engrossed he probably didn’t even hear you talking to him at first. And he has sure managed to wedge himself into a tight little ball in that comfy chair while he reads. It is almost impressive.

And perhaps to everybody’s surprise, Armin can also be found in the Mystery Egg Arcade. This sort of place doesn’t really look like Armin’s deal, and it really isn’t. To be honest, he had only ducked in here to make sure everything was fine here. And he hadn’t intended to stay very long, not with all the lights and noise and many games he just wouldn’t know what to do with. But then he had seen… It.

No, not the machine.

It’s what’s inside the machine that caught his eye.

It is beautiful and squishy and absolutely silly and meaningless and he must. have. it.

So, yes, you can also find Armin in front of this one claw machine, furrowing his brows as he feeds tokens into the slot (let him be, he just won the Elite Four, he can spend his money however he wants, dad) learning the ropes of how these machines work (it’s only the first time he’s ever played one) and trying to bring home the grand prize. Well, the grand prize in his eyes. There is probably bigger and more impressive plushies to win, but how could they ever measure up to the best legendary beast of them all?

Finally, Armin can also be found in the Nido-King and Queen Ball Room cutting a— well, no. Not cutting a rug. In fact, he isn’t really planning on doing any dancing. Instead, he’s stationed himself near a wall and for once it isn’t because he isn’t much of a social butterfly. Instead, he is standing watch. Certainly, nothing has happened on this cruise so far, and that had certainly helped Armin relax a bit more. But if the past two proms had taught him anything, it is that things always go wrong during the big finale. So here he is, all his pokemon in their balls (except Princess and Amber who are swimming on either side of the ship, ready to serve as giant rescue whales) and his wayward stowaway Arthur sitting on his shoulders. Armin doesn’t feel too good about that bit. He had never intended to bring the Sobble here, but now that he was here, Armin feels better with the little creature with him than he does leaving him in his room. If something does happen, he wants to be able to protect him, after all.

The people who attended prom last year may recognise his outfit or his bowtie. Because why buy something new when you have something perfectly serviceable hanging in your closet?]


[The Pokemon]

[With his mind set on making sure there won’t be any trouble at this year’s prom, Armin chose the pokemon on his team carefully.

First, are his two Wailords Amber and Princess, who can be spotted by all swimming alongside the boat. They are far too large to be on the boat, but should anything happen, they’ll make for an excellent emergency escape. Let’s just hope nothing of the sort will be needed. Amber, the largest of the two Wailords, sticks mostly to the left of the boat, friendly towards both pokemon and human alike, and more than happy to entertain people with the occasional spectacular breaching. Princess, the smaller of the two Wailords, sticks mostly to the right of the boat. Like her mother, she spends some of her time breaching from the water, though she does it with a lot more youthful and cheery abandon. She only recently evolved, so even to her, this is still exciting and new. When she isn’t breaching and making a spectacular show of herself, she can be found swimming closer to the boat, listening intently to the song of a cute little Skitty.

Athena the Golduck can mostly be found in Armin’s company. A new pokemon in his team, she still isn’t all to sure what to do with crowds of this size or this many pokemon gathered together. She seems most interested in the Mantine Maritime Library with Armin, and if she is not with her trainer, she can be found there, poking at the books in interest. She cannot read (yet!) but she certainly enjoys looking at the pictures. A water pokemon she might be, but she grew up on Victory Road, far away from oceans and seas. This is all new and intriguing to her.

Meanwhile, Armin’s new Vaporeon Julius and his Gorebyss Beau have discovered a mutual love for pampering and being beautiful and are hitting up the spas and massages together. Mud-baths, fin massages, bubble baths, scale scrubs — they are here for all of this and more!

Armin’s final pokemon, a rather fearsome looking Huntail named Belle, is hanging around the pools, especially the pools where many of the smaller, cuter pokemon have gathered. With her large jaws and fearsome fangs, one might suspect her of looking for a tasty little treat to gobble up, but nothing could be further from the truth! She is the sugar to her brother Beau’s spice, and nothing but nice from the tippy of her little fish shaded tail to the sharp end of her chompers. Too bad many pokemon and understandably frightened by her appearance, because all she wants is to make friends. So she lingers, mostly partially hidden under tables and deck chairs, watching the happy, playful ongoings, wanting to join but also not wanting to make anyone frightened.

Those are the six pokemon Armin knew he brought along. But it turns out… there is another.

Arthur the swobble, terrified of poke balls after everything that happened on that awful plane, has been sticking close to Armin ever since Armin rescued him on Victory Road. Armin had tried to leave the little sobble behind back home, reasoning that a big prom with every risk of things going horribly wrong is no place to bring one traumatised little pokemon. Arthur, however, had disagreed. Hiding in Armin’s bag, he had stowed away on board. However, being just a baby and never having been on a cruise, Arthur hadn’t realised just how big these cruises are! And how loud! And full of strange people and pokemon. He’s already gotten turned around so often, he’s completely lost the way back to Armin’s cabin, so instead, have one little stowaway, anxiously skittering around the boat, mostly invisible (hey, did that table cloth just move on its own?) sometimes curling up in a tight little ball in a little hidey-hole as he tries to gather up enough courage to A, not cry, and B, venture out and find his trainer.]

Lust has lost track of how many proms she's attended at this point. The last two had been...unexpectedly eventful, but it's hardly turned her off of the idea. Besides, it's Boone's first, and Lust does want to show him off.

Not to mention a great many of the ship amenities appeal to her.

Unsurprisingly, she'll be spending plenty of time at the Max Revive Spa Center, taking advantage of every service the spa offers. It's practically a prom tradition. And for once, the staff don't try and mask terrified expressions when they see her hair. Feel free to run into her relaxing in the sauna or lounging about with a supply store's worth of products slathered onto her.

But the pools also catch her attention, and she can be spotted at the Zapdos pool....attempting to teach her Espurr to swim. She's brought the three kittens with her, and all three are outfitted in water wings and little swim caps in the appropriate colors - red for Berlioz, blue for Toulouse, and pink for Mehitabel. It's not going quite as Lust planned. While she's busy gently lowering Toulouse into the shallow end of the pool...

Mehitabel takes advantage of her trainer's distraction to sidle oh-so-innocently up to Berlioz who's watching his brother's swim lesson with nervous curiousity. Once close enough, she casually hip-checks him right into the water. Cue immediate panicked Espurr screaming as Berlioz flails in a panic, causing his brother to immediately start squirming and screaming in Lust's grip. Time to try and diffuse this situation before anyone flips their ears up....

When not trying to keep her Espurr from getting into trouble, Lust will be spending plenty of time in the library and tackling Shuckle's Challenge Rock Wall. Why should Pokemon have all the fun?

And of course there is the ballroom with the prom proper. It's always Lust's favorite part of prom, the prom dance itself. This year she's dressed to compliment her short hair, choosing something with a very vintage look and wearing a feathered and beaded headband in her hair.

And while she's attending with Boone and sticking close to her boyfriend, she's more than happy to dance with anyone who asks. She never misses a chance to show off her dancing abilities. One of these days she really ought to turn her talents into a career...

[Boone at least knows how to slow dance, because Carla was quite adamant that he learn. She'd wanted him to learn faster things too, but he always put it off. Maybe he shouldn't have, but he can't dwell on that right now.

He gives Lust a tiny smile as he leads her to the dance floor, outfitted in a black suit with red accents and a red shirt underneath to match his ever-present beret. The song is slow, and he leads her through it with one hand at her waist and another holding hers. Pointy is nearby, making sad noises. He misses his girlfriend. Boone sighs as he glances over at the Drapion.]

Feel pretty bad for him, you know. Wish I could cheer him up.

Deck Life

Matt's never been one to know how to relax, but for once, he's sitting on a deck chair, staring out over the ocean, losing himself in watching a few Wailmer float on by. He might be losing himself in thought, half reading, half-watching.

He probably could use some company.

Dinner

Sure, Most of the time, he's with his boyfriend, but sometimes a guy just needs a munch. He's sitting at a table, a few plates around him with different foods, trying each one.

Dancing

So this is the main part, right? He feels a bit awkward, but he's there, wearing a black suit with an orange tie and vest.

He'll mostly stand to the side and have a couple of drinks, watching evertying that's going one. It's a watching time, it seems.

Probably not the most... suave of greetings. And chances are, he's been spending a lot of time with Matt already. But this time, he's trying to be romantic. Trying to be spontaneous and fun. Even if he's tense as a strung wire.

"I can't help but notice there's a bright spot in the galaxy over here. So... I came to investigate."

... yeah, Shiro, that's even worse.

[Arceus help you, Prom. Someone has just strutted their way onto the dance floor. The lights abruptly reflecting off their awful purple glitter outfit. That's right. Shadowmaru has arrived. His hair is freshly recolored. Honestly, he sort of looks like a shiny grape, but do not tell him that.]

[Because he's grabbing the nearest person's hands, tugging them into a dance. Hold onto your hats, Prom.]


DINNER;;
[Since he lacks a proper date, Shadowmaru can be found sharing a fancy meal with his pokemon, instead. A Growlithe, Rockruff, Frogadier and Sobble can all be found sitting around a table with him. Sharing the food among one another.]

[But hey! If you're alone, you may also be invited over, provided you don't mind sharing the space with a bunch of dogs. And a frog. And the literal fishbowl full of fruity cocktail he is insistent he try.]


CENTER STAGE;;
[At some point, it's inevitable. Shadowmaru has donned his prom clothes and is attempting to bust out one of the latest pokemon hits. His own team are in the audience, trying their level best to get the crowd more into the whole thing, without much luck.]

[He's going to stay up on stage to karaoke as much as humanly possible. Look, prom might come crashing down around his ears, but he's absolutely going to try and have as much fun as he can.]

[Armin didn't expect to get accosted by a grape-flavoured robot-turned-human, but that is just his life today. He had only come here to observe and make sure nothing would go wrong, but from one moment to the next he is standing idly by the wall, and then two strong hands grab his wrist and pull him onto the dance-floor, tripping over his own feet.]
