[Hey it's the not so social mystery twin and...um. Well he looks ....really sad.]

Hey, it's Dipper. I know Mabel has a lot of friends here so I thought I should make a post. ...If you don't know already. Mabel's...Mabel's gone.

Again.

....I've got one of her pokemon with me and I tried for like hours to get her on the gear so I think she's really gone.

[There's a Minior floating around Dipper, next to his normal Phantump.]

I don't really know anything more then that. I really wish this place-....

-anyway, If you need me, I'm probably going to be ...I don't know I'll think of something. Maybe I wrote off going off by myself to explore, too quickly....

Um...yeah. That's all.

[And he'll shut the gear off. Feel free to reply, he's just....not good at this.]

A lot can happen in five minutes!

I did an arms race across the Highlands once in two minutes!

[Yo, Krieg, that's probably not the best way to make the kid feel better about the miniscule age difference between him and his missing sister...]

Yeah but you're like a grown up. We were babies.

[No, it's distracting him. This is good.]

Babies can't do that much. Especially when they're newborns.

I guess. I never met any babies.

[That he knows of, anyway. So he'll take Dipper's word for it.]

Just baby monsters.

[And honestly, in his experience even newly-hatched 'mons are pretty self-sufficient.]

Well human babies usually just cry and sleep. Like really simple being alive things.

So I still don't think it counts that much.

[How many times has this argument been made? Many times and probably more in the future.]

It's not like the pokemon here. They're pretty good once they hatch.

Random chance never is. I think after thirty years of being tossed around the universe like a pinball I stopped trying to find an explanation. Things happen or they don't. Ultimately that's all existence is: a series of things happening, or not.

Unfortunately I've found that I'm often the only one who finds that comforting.

I don't know. If it's random it means that there's not an evil jerk or anything playing with us like puppets.

I think I'd rather have random than that.

[He was thinking more along the lines of how up his own ass he was first about being Chosen by his 'Muse' and then about being the lone wolf hero who'd be The One to bring Bill down. He's kind of grateful Dipper either didn't pick up on that or tactfully didn't mention it.]

I know I advocated the forest, but you really should go with Jean and Bertolt. They're good kids.

[He can call them kids because he is old as dirt.]

[It helps a lot that Dipper is not in the best frame of mind to draw parallels at the moment.]

I think I will. They've been really nice to me since I got here and I think they're right about it being better in the long run.

[He is however aware enough to know that the Pines family as a whole is really bad at this.]

[The Pines family is really bad at this. It's taken Ford years to unlearn all the bad habits he drilled into his own head, even putting genuine effort toward doing so. This, here, is progress. He knows that really it wouldn't make him feel any better. It would just be time to stew on his own about it, to nurse the hurt until the edge faded away, and that's not healthy coping.]

I have some options when it comes to people I can call up for a distraction. I'll see if any of them are free.

[And now he's said it to someone else so he has to do it, because this child will keep him accountable. That's family baby!!!!]

Good, because then I'd just get lost in the woods too, looking for you.

No, no. If you needed me you wouldn't need to look for me.

[Ford is bad at reading cues. Like, monumentally bad. But if you tell him directly that you need him, he'll be there.]

[What is communication and is it easier then setting out to find someone by yourself, in the woods? Yes? Well we're already out here so.../dear Pines family, please stop being so stubborn.]

But I'll remember to use the gear if I need to find you.

I think they eat and poop, too.

[And with that, we have exhausted Krieg's repository of knowledge re: babies.]

I'm glad monster babies are tougher. I don't have to worry about breaking them.

[Oh yeah, he also knows human babies are f r a g i l e as heck. Now that knowledge well has run dry.]

Oh right, I know. Can you imagine how few people would have many pokemon from eggs if they were all as helpless as human babies when they hatched?

Pfff! I wouldn't have any!

[Also not true, he only has four egg babies. But it feels like more.]

Me either. It would just be wild pokemon who are grown up already.

That would be way too much responsibility.

[Dipper has quite a few egg babies by now. One of them treats him like her kid. He will now take this a lot better.]

I'll meet you at the Ice Cream parlor that's near the train, okay?

[The idea has him cheered up more then a little. He really does need distractions.]

[Within five minutes Ray is in Goldenrod, and is headed towards the ice cream shop while actively looking for Dipper.]

Dipper? Are you here yet?

[... Maybe he's a little overeager too.]

[It will take Dipper a few more minutes to reach the ice cream shop. He's got a Phantump and a Minior floating around him as he walks. He's talking to them before he notices Ray and runs over. The two of them trailing behind him.]

Hey!

Sorry, we kind of got distracted with making some plans.

[He's got a piece of paper folded up in his pocket he just shoved in.]

I think we're going to hang out in the dump after this till we meat up with Bertolt and Jean.

[Ray, meanwhile, is bringing his Ditto along, who is looking pretty sad at Mabel's disappearance and well, Ray would be a bad father if he didn't offer them ice cream too.

He perks up at the sight of Dipper and waves excitedly at him.]

Hi! And don't worry about it; I'm just glad you're here!

[He idly looks over the ice cream menu.]

I'm jealous, it's been too long since I've been to the Goldenrod dump myself; it was one of my favorite places to look for scrap metal!

It's a neat place. We actually ended up there the first time we got here. My Grunkle McGucket busted us out of jail with a giant flying robot and brought us there.
