Dinner Time! - For Sasami

[Yayoi and Sasami are camping. It's like, a few days after they reached Viridian and Yayoi's challenged Blue. The outcome of that is still up in the air, she's quiet about it, thinking about her latest gym battle when the kids are coming out to eat.

[Pikachu offered Yayoi a letter which was written to her as she unfolded it.] Dear mom, gone to train, be back soon.

Hey friends, I've got a bit of an emergency. My Magneton went off on a solo training trip after my gym battle, I'll explain how that went later but I think he really wanted to evolve to a Magnezone cause he's been stuck as a Magneton for so long. Trouble is, he wanted to use a Magnetic Field to do so. I think he's headed towards the Electrical Power Plant which is the best possible area for a Field, but I can't catch up to him on my own. Can anyone find him and send him back my way? He said he'd be back, but my kids are worried.

ACTION - Magneton and ????

[Magneton is flying towards the Electrical Station. He's somewhere between Viridian City and Pewter, making good time when he enters Viridian Forest.

It's probably a little easier to catch up to him there when you're looking for him, when he pauses at a waterfall to catch his pacing. But one might notice that a Bounsweet has been following him for a while now, concerned that a Trainer Pokemon has been going somewhere without their trainer.

And if you come across them, they might seem to recognize you, or not. It might depend on your friendship level with Yayoi. This Bounsweet has been apparently following Yayoi for quite a while, and has been concerned with her tiredness since the Fourth Wall. Maybe she's just worried for her health? She's been kind of tired lately as she lets out a Sweet Scent to attract people.

[Sasami had focused more on the Caterpie -now Butterfree- she had captured over a week ago and completely missed everything]

Magneton! He went to find a Magnetic Field to Evolve when we could have just trade evolved.

Now I'm worried, the Electrical Plant is a ways away and we just started dinner...

Whaaaa?! We need to get him back! But...!

[Think, Sasami, think!]

I know we do, but I don't know which direction or route he's on. He's gotten a good head start on us already.

I'd imagine he's headed through Viridian Forest by now...

Viridian Forest? [And she looks in the direction]

...that's going to take a long time to go through.

And he's got a head start of us. And we have to break camp and everyone just started eating.

What to do...

I'll have to make calls to my friends, put out a mass post on the network, see if anyone can track him while we break camp.

[After a minute or so.]

Okay, made the call.

Man... we still have to eat too. And then clean up and augh.

Okay so like, Shounen Protagonist means a person or character who just like, has ridiculous tendencies to be over the top, emotionally unbalanced sometimes, likes to fight, and likes to talk with their emotions and fists or actions rather than their heads.

Usually. The definition has kind of swelled a lot to card game anime, book anime, food anime... the list goes on.

[Yayoi chuckled at that.] C'mon let's eat and break camp. We need to catch up to Magneton.

Right, right! [And she’s off to feed everyone and herself]

[At least the food's good, and soon everyone's fed and watered, and Yayoi's breaking down the tent and packing it away.]

Okay, we should probably figure out where to go. I think the best way to track him is to scan for a level 100 in the area.

And that can’t be hard, right? It’s really the only one.

Within Range yeah. I don't think he's got much to worry about, but the problem is catching up to him with his head start.

Oh, I'm not far from the Power Plant at all! Do you think I could intercept him for you?

Please do, if you can! I don't know if he's gotten that far, but please keep a look out for him. He should ping as the only level 100 in the area!

Well, none of my Pokemon are that strong, so if he's really set on it there's not much I can do, but I'll definitely let you know if I see him!

Thanks Kazuki, it's appreciated. We're making time but he's got a lead. I think he started out after we all recovered after the battle at the Gym, which by the way we won with like, one mistake so...

Oh, you mean your new trainer friend beat it? Or you haven't taken on the Kanto gyms before?

Actually uh... no... [Embarrassed] I haven't taken on the Kanto Gyms at all, so I decided to tackle Blue...

... At the Elite Level. As usual.

I won, with a 0-6 Sweep. My Pokemon 1v1ed them except for Magneton who we made a mistake with his last Pokemon which... oh.

Maybe that's why he ran off to train. He didn't LOSE, but, he wasn't able to overwhelm Blue's Jolteon with a Charged Zap Cannon because of Volt Absorb. We had to switch to Pikachu and Psychic Spam our way through that. Otherwise it would have been a clean sweep.

Oooh, I get it. He wants to evolve because he thinks he brought the team down!

Don't worry, I'll catch up to him. I might be able to talk him down, too. I'll take Amp with me, he should be able to relate.

Yeah, I think so!

Thanks, that'll help. Please, do catch up to him. Sasami and I are breaking camp as soon as possible, but it's literally the middle of dinner time, and she can't break it alone.

[Lavender Town is about as close as you can get to the Power Plant, so it's a quick fly on his Noivern. He bypasses Rock Tunnel and lands after less than an hour alight. He was certain that he had made it before the Magneton. Kazuki let out his Electrode, Amp, and told him to keep an eye out for any strong, anomalous electrical pulses. Yayoi's Magneton was level 100 after all, and would be stronger than any of the wild electric types hanging out in the plant.]

[Little did he know, he should have brought his Slurpuff with him. They needed to find a scent, not a strong source of magnetism.]

[Back with Kazuki, there's Magneton, paused at the waterfall as Bounsweet was sending out Sweet Scent to attract people around. At the same time, his electric pulses were pretty strong and would be felt by Amp fairly close by as they got closer and closer.

But the scent on the wind would reach them soon, as the smell would be getting closer and closer.]

[Eventually, the scent of Sweet Scent, something he was very familiar with, since his Slurpuff used it in his baking all the time. While it wasn't what he was expecting, it made him immediately curious -- a Pokemon that could use that attack shouldn't be in this area.]

[Kazuki told Amp to stay put near the entrance to the Power Plant in case the Magneton wandered by, and went to search for the source of the smell. It led him near to a waterfall, where he found the Bounsweet. Was it another stray?]

Hey, sweetie! [He called to it] Where'd you come from? What're you doing here?

[A trainer! Maybe... wait, maybe he was looking for Magneton! Bounsweet bounced up and down a little, exclaiming] Bounsweet, Sweet, sweet!

[As if she was trying to get his attention, to point him in the right direction of the waterfall where Magneton was sitting under, where he let out a Sha!]

Sweet! [She exclaimed reproachfully, scolding Magneton.]

Oh, hey! [Kazuki then saw Magneton, when he followed the Bounsweet's line of sight.] Were you guys together? Great! Magneton! Yayoi-san's really worried about you!

Kssh.

[Magneton grumpily replied, staying under the waterfall, not budging an inch.

Bounsweet sighed as she bounced a little.] Sweet, bounsweet, sweet!

[She gestured towards Magneton, gesturing that Kazuki keep talking. Reason with him.]

Seriously! It's not your fault that Jolteon knew Volt Absorb! You're a really strong Pokemon, and Yayoi-san loves you! She's on her way here right now!

Shh?

[Yayoi was coming here? It would take her a while, she was with Sasami and yet... traveling this length would be a while. Bounsweet bounced a little encouragingly as he floated away from the water, shaking droplets from his gleaming metal frame.]

Ssshhhh.

[It seems like he's willing to go with you Kazuki to wait for her to arrive.]

That's a good Pokemon. [Kazuki reached out to gently touch Magneton's metal body.] The only reason I'm here instead of her is because she asked for help, and I was closer. Let's hang out until she gets here, okay?

Ssssh.

Sweet!

[Bounsweet seems rather pleased, and she rolls a berry towards Kazuki and Amp a piece as thanks for convincing Magneton to come out of hiding. It's a strange berry, sort of banana shaped in nature and it smells good. People say don't eat the fruit, but this one looks very tempting. There's about a 5% chance of a tummy ache from this one, thanks to the Bounsweet's care about it.]

Oh hey, is this for me? Thanks! [Kazuki actually eats Pecha and Mago berries fairly often. They taste good, and he has in iron stomach. He keeps this one in hand though.] I'll share it with my Pokemon. Luna deserves a snack for the fast flight here.

[Back at the Plant, Amp is still waiting for Kazuki. When he comes up with two new Pokemon following him, the Electrode rolls forward with a curious crackle. Is this the one? He's certainly giving off a strong magnetic field!]

[Following along with Magneton, it certainly was and Magneton gives Amp a welcoming rumble of greeting, his magnetic field interacting with Amp's. It seems they are very pleased to meet one another as Yayoi eventually rides up on horseback.]

Sorry I'm late, we had to make arrangements to meet partway to Pewter since I had to teleport here. Magneton!

Sssh.

[Yayoi let out a breathless sigh.] Thank you Kazuki, I mean it, you too Amp for finding him. And... who's this?

Sweet! [Bounsweet tilted her body at Yayoi before bouncing once, letting off a Sweet Scent before bouncing into the bushes with a giggle. Seems like today isn't the day you'll catch her, Yayoi.]

Did she lead you to him, Kazuki?

[Of course an Electrode and a Magneton would get along. They're inorganic Electric-Type brothers! It lets out a couple of harmless sparks to show its affection.]

No problem! I'm glad I was able to cut him off before he actually made it inside the Power Plant. There're rumors that there are some really strong Pokemon in there.

Wait, it's not yours? [Kazuki watched in bewilderment as the Bounsweet ambled away.] It did lead me here!

I have never seen that Bounsweet before in my life... [said Yayoi, bewildered.] I guess... she must have taken a liking to Magneton for some reason.

It's not the first time a Pokemon just up and followed one of mine. But usually they stick around me a little longer.

[She rubbed Magneton's side a little and he made a shhssh noise.] You know, we could just trade-evolve you right?

Shhh?

I've had a couple follow me too, but it's usually something that turns into a capture right away. That one's almost teasing you!

Ah, but don't you need a special item for that?

This one seems a little too independent to just let me catch her. I get this feeling.

Hmm, yeah I do, and I don't have one for that...

I didn't come prepared for that, huh... I need to figure this out actually.

Sorry, I can't help you there. I don't know a whole lot about stuff like that. When I evolved my Slurpuff, it was totally by accident.

Yeah, most of my things I do are completely by accident too.

I guess we're in the same boat.
