thegreenhornet: For five minutes (Staring dumbly into the distance)

005 | Action + Video

[Action: Another peaceful night in Goldenrod. Too peaceful, for Britt's taste. Even though he has continued for almost two months going around and getting progressively better at coordinating his team to catch criminals, it continues being little more than, well...petty thieves, most of the time. That's starting to lose the thrill quickly. When he heard about Team Rocket he thought he had found something to tackle, but, much to his disappointment, he soon found out they're not nearly as active as a vigilante would want them to be.

Which isn't a bad thing, really. He knows it isn't. Still...

If you're in Goldenrod one night maybe you'll hear the loud buzzing of a Beedrill, and feel like you're being watched. It all seems to be pretty close to you, and if you're attentive enough, maybe you'll see a glimpse of a man with a dark suit and a mask hiding. He's more experienced now that he was when he started back in his world, but really, he misses the fancy toys his sidekick had.

Video

The next day, Britt can't take this anymore. He's getting bored, so he decides to do something about it -- the one thing he figures he can do in this world that doesn't involve getting himself in a lot of trouble. He's getting restless, aching for something to do that'd snap him out of his funk, so why not to take the leap? Making Brutus hold the device, he stares at the screen and declares:]

I'm gonna tackle the gyms. I'm gonna get all those badges, and I'm marking this as the day I start traveling for that. Guess I have something to do now. I mean, how hard can it be to go and win a few battles?

[It's likely it'll be hard, but hey, he has never been someone who cares much about how difficult something is]

It's a good challenge. Can always take on the elite teams if your own team's too high level. As in, all max leveled.

What order are you thinking about going?

[ Everyone has to start somewhere! He's at least quick to take action on his, er, thoughts? Rashness is... boldness? She's trying to find an upside. ]

Nothing Psychic for sure. What levels are you at?

Gym battles tend to be as hard as you want them to be, past a certain point. You might even give yourself a handicap after a while, just to keep yourself sharp.

[Or for fun. Some people find that fun.]

Depends. You still only have a handful of Poison-type Pokemon? You're gonna get screwed at any gym that has an advantage on you unless you train 'em up to way higher levels, and even then it'll be a tossup.

And then you gotta consider gyms like the Steel gym- Poison attacks won't affect her Pokemon, most've her Pokemon have Ground moves, not to mention the Skarmory- which'll destroy your bug- and Rock moves- which'll also destroy your bug- and the Steelix having Fire Fang and Ice Fang- which'll destroy your bug and the weird rabbit thing, if it's fully evolved. Dunno if you had more than that.

[He knows an excessive amount about Jasmine's gym, since he had to spend weeks preparing for it- all his Pokemon had at least one disadvantage to hers, and it took him forever to craft a strategy that he was satisfied with. Though if anyone asks, he won because his Pokemon were stronger and better. That's all.]

... Buuut, you might be ok with gyms you don't have a direct advantage on, like, I dunno, Normal?

Depends on how strong your Pokemon are and how prepared you are! I haven't had much trouble with them myself, but depending on types and moves I imagine it'd be pretty hard.

Starchild has been wanting to take on Clair all by herself so theoretically one Pokemon could sweep a gym too!

See, that all depends on your team and your perspective.

[Riku cracks a crooked smirk, shrugging.]

Take Whitney, for example. Her Miltank is infamous. Loves to abuse Rollout every chance it gets. With Morty, you're gonna want to pack a lot of Awakenings. Dude loves to abuse statuses every chance he gets.

[He pauses, contemplating.]

Guess the bottom line is: you'll wanna take tactics into account.
