[Greeting the network is Lust, wearing a large black sun hat and sunglasses, standing on what looks to be a dock - but the 'gear is being hand held, so it's hard to say for sure. That's definitely the ocean, though.]

I realized I should mention that if anyone needs me in the near future, I'll be spending the remainder of my summer down in the islands. I've been spending far too much time in Goldenrod again, and Shiro was kind enough to invite me to visit.

Guttle's going to meet other Spheals. He's overjoyed at that prospect, he bought a whole new makeup kit for the trip. He wants to look his best for his cousins.

And I'm bringing the kittens with me.

[Which are by no means kittens anymore, but in case the rest of the house feared the trio of unruly Espurrs without Lust to corral them, she felt it worth mentioning.]

I'm not serious. [He feels the need to assure her, he's not going to enable someone who really doesn't want to.] But I'd still be happy for the company.

Heather is my age, we're...something like family. I wouldn't call her impressionable.

Parents like to imagine they're setting examples.

[He almost adds to that, "leave us to our illusions" and even though it's another joke it feels like he'd start down a bad thought path, considering he's not a parent anymore.]

I'll see if I can get him out of the house.

I won't argue with that. But parents also have a habit of seeing their children as younger and less capable than they are.

He's been buried in his work lately, it would do him good to get out.

Fuckin' A. If my dad was still alive he'd still be thinking that of me and I got a whole handful of decades under my belt.

It's some quirk of nature, I suppose. That instinct that trumps better sense.

It's love. It always trumps better sense. Rose-colored glasses don't always come in making people look hot. They come in making our family look as fragile and bright as fuckin' crystal, even when nothing can't actually get to 'em.

That's certainly true. Emotions...warp all manner of ways we see others. Especially those close to us.
