[action - Ecruteak]
Who: Envy (and a ghost) and YOU
Where: Ecruteak
When: August 16th through 19th
Summary: Envy, like many others, has a less than fun time being followed by a well-intentioned ghost.
Rating: PG-13? Possible CW for discussion of abuse.
Log:
[Why did whatever this was have to look like her? Envy's already talked with Lust about what might be going on, and he's seen the other distressed people popping up on the network. He knows this is just one of those things that happens, and obviously his former master isn't really here.]
[That doesn't stop the cold twist of his stomach every time he catches sight of her out of the corner of his eye. At least the whatever-it-is isn't talking.]
[Now if only he could find a way to get rid of it.]
[He doesn't want to take this to the network, he doesn't want to talk about her to potentially a bunch of random strangers. But he's also not going to be holing up in his hotel room...he hates the thought of just being in a room with even the image of her staring at him. So out and about it is, speedwalking down the sidewalk wherever he goes, hands shoved in his pockets and his head down to avoid looking at her. Maybe if he walks fast enough, he'll lose her. Unfortunately for anyone around him, this makes it really easy for him to smack straight into someone.]
[By day two, someone might catch him emptying a garbage can out in an alley, grim determination on his face. Lust had put a garbage can on her and nothing bad had happened, even if she'd phased on out before very long. And it had been kind of funny. He can do it too.]
[One way or another, eventually he will have gotten rid of the pesky follower. And is still wandering around town looking for ANY kind of distraction, no matter how small. He's got a lot to avoid thinking about.]

[NOW some of his own anger at the ghosts comes bubbling up, now that her own is at a much less worrying level, and he holds his hands up in a futile gesture of frustration.]
Maybe we should take the tent and go sleep out in that!
At least then they wouldn't be standing over our bed!
[Because now that she's brought them being in the room with them up and the idea has really had time to sink in, he really does not like the sound of that.]
no subject
[But when Envy drops that suggestion, she slowly turns back to look at him. Incredulity is written all over her face.]
... Okay, Envy, think about that a minute. What's the one thing worse than trying to sleep with these two standing and watching us in the hotel room?
[He doesn't get to reply, because she's already answering her own question, gesturing dramatically with each word.]
Doing the same thing, in a tent, with no lights, in the woods!
NO. WAY.
no subject
[His own gestures get wilder as hers do. All this frenetic, angry energy has to escape somehow.]
Where do you want to sleep then, if you don't want to stay in the room and you don't want to stay in the tent?
no subject
[It's possibly the first time she's ever yelled at Envy out of sheer irrational frustration, and she cuts herself off with a hand pressed over her eyes, taking in deep breaths.]
[THE GHOSTS CONTINUE TO STAND THERE AWKWARDLY.]
no subject
Neither do I!
[When she cuts herself off, he crosses his arms tightly. He's still scowling, but not waving them around anymore.]
...if we stay in the room, we could at least have the TV on.
no subject
... I can't stay in the room right now.
I need to go out and move.
[Hell, maybe if she got on Carousel and went on a long, furious ride in the woods west of town, she'd be able to strand the Claudia specter out there for a few hours.]
no subject
I didn't mean now, just...tonight.
Let's go out, then. There'll be people out, if we don't look at them it'll be like they're just part of the crowds.
[At least that's what he's desperately trying to convince himself of.]
no subject
[If she weren't so heavily preoccupied with the problem at hand, maybe she'd think about it a little more. A realization for later, perhaps.]
Yeah.
Let's go.
Let's just-- go.
