[Fuck he doesn't know. But here it goes. He's scratching his head and messing his hair up in the process.]
Okay, I have no fuckin' idea how to cook. I'm shit at it. I need someone to show me how to at least bake something in the next couple of weeks, alright? I'll pay.
[A cake made by him would be optimal. It won't be pretty, but it'd be the effort that counts. He supposes if he wrecks the thing he could go get a nice one from a store at the last moment.]
Also uh... last month while I was with Shadowmaru we ran into some Rockets. [Honestly it ended up being the highlight of his week. He's pretty sure that people aren't supposed to fight Rockets the way they did but it felt fucking great. Plus, you know, skinny funky-haired ninja being fucking impressive. That's a good show.] And the Jennies took 'em into custody. They got back to me and they think one of the pokemon they had was from that Prom that was attacked. Ambrose.
So Armin you can probably give 'em a ring and claim him.
[He hasn't even heard about the awesome dog he missed yet. Though his awesome dog leans in with its giant muzzle and snuffles his messed up hair.]

[Is this a common feature of detectives? Do they all feel the need to turn down payment? It's kind, but it doesn't seem like a wise business decision.]
I know I don't have to repay you. But I'd like to. You put in a lot of work, and you were even able to reunite me with my pokemon. To be honest, I had kind of given up hope that I would be.
If you won't accept money, how about a Pokemon, at least? I am a breeder, after all. There might be some Pokemon I could breed for you.

I guess if you have a type you think would be especially good for rescue work. That's mostly what I use 'em for anymore. I've not been doing a lotta gym battles.

[Armin is musing already, going through all his pokemon, mentally divvying them up in 'appropriate for rescue' and 'not appropriate for rescue' categories.]
Could I ask what pokemon you currently have?
no subject
[Because that's easier than naming them all.]

Water types, mostly. Or, well, to be exact, ocean-dwelling pokemon.
[Which aren't all water types, and at the same time, not every water type is quite as frequently seen in oceans.]

Well uh, I got a Primarina, and I got a Tentacruel, and a Drapion, and I still got the Skrelp I got off you. Her name is 'Serendipity' by the way.
[After the kid's book he read to Cole.]

The one that has a bit of a dad bod going on. Nope, still both of them.
The one with the crappy fashion sense. Nope, still.
Apparently, there are just a lot of experiences that are common to all Jacks and it is good science discovered this.
(It's totally the not dickheaded one though.)]
I'm glad. Juniper was the first pokemon I caught here, so she's always been a bit special to me.
How good are your current water pokemon for things like surfing?
[Skrelp is tiny, so chances that Hank is using her for that purpose are slim. Tentacruel is bigger, yes, but also rather venomous. So perhaps that is a niche still left unoccupied in Hank's roster.]

Something capable of carrying people would be a huge help. I uh...
I like Blubber but she likes to give hugs.
And I never come out well afterwards.
[He throws up, a lot.]

Well, in that case, are you familiar with a pokemon called Totodile? Or more importantly, its eventual evolution Feraligatr?
no subject
I've heard of 'em. But I'm not all that familiar. How's their temperament?
no subject
[What a nice way to say hyper and bitey as fuck.]
They have a lot of energy and a surprising amount of power, so one does need to be firm and make sure they don't get too rough with other Pokemon. Though that might be something you are already familiar with if you have a lot of dog-like pokemon. But I've also heard these pokemon are commonly given to new trainers in other regions, so they are certainly not unmanageable either.
And they do settle down a lot once they evolve. Farida-- ah, that is my Feraligatr-- could have a bit of a temper when she was younger, but nowadays, she is a lot better at controlling her emotions. And with her powerful build, she is not only very good for transporting people through the water, but she is also good at clearing paths of rubble and boulders if the situation calls for it.

[And having a horse at home.]
Alright, I'll consider it. But no rush. This was mostly me just wanting to make sure your pal got home. Pretty sure Shadowmaru's in the same mindset, though I can't say for certain.

[Listen, he's been there, okay. He lived with Bertolt. He knows about Arcanine and their magical ability to shed their own weight in fur every three days. You don't run into that so much with water pokemon.]
I understand you aren't doing this work for the rewards. Shadowmaru told me the same thing. [Well, actually, Shadowmaru told him he never got paid before cause he is a robot, which is Not Cool.] But I'd still like to show my gratitude too. So, whenever you are ready for a new pokemon, just let me know, and I'll take care of things.
no subject
I'll probably take you up on it.
Serendipity turned out pretty good, after all.
