Or at least, that's probably the case. It can be hard to tell, with the eggs strewn over every available flat surface (and some that are neither available nor flat).

As Cecil advances through the house (still filming for the network's entertainment, of course), it becomes evident than the whole building has been similarly decorated. The living room. The kitchen. The bathroom. Even the backyard, where a dozen eggs are gently slumbering by the pond, under the watchful eyes of a pair of Lapras.

It's that last sight that finally convinces Cecil to speak.]

...P500 for the Magikarps, Caterpies, Carbinks, Miniors and Lunatones, P1500 for the rest. We deliver everywhere in Kanto and Johto, and I can assure you that every single egg will be well worth training.

This occurs about once a year. My Pokémon do not breed often, but when they do, they all breed at once. Usually when I'm out buying groceries, and therefore unable to beg them to reconsider.

As far as I can tell, I have Litwick, Mimikyu, potentially Oricorio, Phantump, Sableye and Shuppet. Which would mean no Sandygast or Snorunt this year...?

Once a year or so. My Pokémon do not breed often, but they breed as a group-

[And that's when he stops and grimaces, because that came out very, very wrong.]

...And as they are many and often compatible, I find myself with over a hundred eggs at once.

That's a lot. What happens if you can't sell them all? Do you keep them when they hatch? Or is there always a market for them here?

Plenty of local are willing to buy them, in Celadon and Saffron. Those who cannot find trainers even then become prozes at the Gym. I've almost reached the limit of Pokémon I'm allowed to train, so keeping them all would not be feasible.

Looks like I still came out better than you- you wound up stuck with way more than I've got. Pretty sure it's just 'cause I've got nowhere near as many Pokemon as you do, though.

When nearly a hundred Pokémon breed at the same time, such large clutches are to be expected. Remember that, before you decide to go on catching sprees.

[His tone is so ominous, one would think he was sharing a prophecy of doom. Maybe he is.]

Your own clutch is more reasonable, then? Any unexpected surprises, new pairs that do not look like they should be compatible?

Yeah, only about... Five clutches? And all of 'em were at least kind of planned- they're Pokemon that I've been meaning to breed for a while- but most of 'em just decided to do it when I wasn't expecting it. One after the other. All month long.

The first time I tried to get eggs, though, my Mimikyu laid some and I had no idea who the father was. Turned out I had a wild Spiritomb stowed away in my bag for months without knowing it.

That's as a trainer, too. If I was a breeder, it'd be even worse.

Well, of course they did not wait for a convenient time. That would have been far too easy to prepare for, and what self-respecting Pokémon would want that? ...But I'm curious, now. How can a wild Pokémon hide amoung your belonging for so long without being found? Did he somehow bribe the rest of your team to stay quiet?

Barboach, potentially Eevee, Feebas, Finneon, Froakie, Lapras, Magikarp, Qwilfish, Popplio and Wooper. Plenty of variety, but that's usually the case.

[He has a feeling it will be perfectly fine. Cecil is very obviously overloaded.]

[Armin has been around long enough to have seen Cecil's egg debacles before. It seems to get worse and worse every year but that might just be his imagination.]

I'd almost call it late, even. Last year's clutch was two months earlier, so the Pokémon I caught during my late August catching spree could not participate.

[He sounds terribly heartbroken by that. Really.]

As a matter of fact, Tida did lay a Lapras egg, but it's already found a loving trainer. Shiva appears to be responsible for the Amaura egg, instead...

That's a pity.

[And it is, in a small way, because every Lapras he can add to the pod to later release is one more for the records. But he also doesn't sound too down by it. He doesn't get first dibs on every Lapras egg, and if another trainer has already spoken for it, then he can only hope it is a good trainer. And hey, any Lapras obtained like this is one that isn't caught in the wild.]

Well, if you ever have any more Lapras eggs, you know where to find me. The last one I adopted from you was really a wonderful little Lapras. In fact, it might interest you to know, I was recently able to release him along with some of my other Lapras. So he's now out there, strengthening a wild pod.

...When a team of nearly a hundred Pokémon includes multiple pairs who love each other very much, or at least are very much willing to breed out of some twisted desire to bring particularly powerful children into the world...

[The sight of this many eggs cramped into one living space definitely inspires a healthy level of awed horror in Winston, and he can't help but feel bad for the unfortunate paladin in charge of these clutches.]

We are very, very used to such large clutches. My team knows how to safely stack eggs while taking as much space as possible, ensuring that I'll not be able use half my house for the next few days.

[Some might be impressed, but Cecil has long chosen resignation and despair.]

This isn't the first time it's happened. [For the record: that's not a question. That's Winston flatly stating what the situation is out loud, so he can better let it sink in for himself. ...he shakes his head a bit, realizing just how unenviable a position Cecil is in.]

...so. Do you have anything that could just... totally wreck shop on a grass type? My team's been struggling the most with those.
