[It's a very familiar big pink face taking up most of the gear screen, but Rose is looking very concerned today.]

Hello everyone....

I was wondering how many others have tried communicating with our...displaced visitors? I think I might be getting somewhere, but...

[The gear bounces and shifts as Rose angles it to show a Poipole on the road behind her. It looks like they're somewhere just outside of Goldenrod, and none of Rose's Pokemon are anywhere to be seen.]

[The Poipole keeps moving down the way...then stopping and spinning around and drifting just a little ways back. Rose makes a graceful sweeping gesture with her free arm, waving towards the Ultra Beast and angling her hand down at the road beside her. The Poipole just repeats its back and forth.]

I think it wants me to go with it!

Does asking them to leave the Game Corner count as communicating?

I'm not sure....did they understand you?

Maybe? They did leave, eventually.

But we were also kind of, herding them, I guess? Trying to kind of push them back out, a little.

I don't think they communicate the way we do, or even how most Pokemon do...

That would certainly be a problem.

[Whether they were just lost or if this were some kind of deliberate incursion.]

...If they don't communicate like us, what have you been trying?

Every time they've come out before it's turned into some big fight, and also they keep wrecking everything.

Whatever they want can't be good, why should we play nice?

[Dimensional clowns burned down his favorite coffee place today he's not feeling very generous towards the Ultra Beasts.]

I'm not sure it's too good an idea to go following them, either. Who knows what they want?

Because sometimes fighting comes from fear... this isn't their native home, I don't think they know what's happening much more than we do...

Maybe I can help.

[His expression screws up a little--why'd she have to go and make that particular point? Euuugh, sometimes he wishes he hadn't had to grow so many feelings...he wants to be mad, not empathetic!]

[But he's still got at least some of his original point he's not about to concede.]

And sometimes something in a new place that doesn't know what they're doing can do a lot of damage before they catch on.

Or before they understand what help is. So if you wanna help, be careful.

All the more reason to show compassion and try and help. They won't figure it out all by themselves.

I'm sure it will be just fine.

Where do you think he's planning on leading you?

I've no idea! But it's very insistent.

I don't think they use language the same way that we do.

That sounds like something from a scary movie to me.

Like right before something goes horribly wrong.

[He's still going to grumble but he's at least sort of listening now.]

How do you mean, don't use language?

It is the time of year for scary movies!

Well they haven't listened to anything I've said. But they can understand what I mean through movement. At least that's what it seems like.

So you're making friendly movements at it, and now it wants to bring you along...to somewhere. I'm getting this right?

[Envy squints for a few long moments at the background of the shot. It looks sort of familiar...]

Where are you exactly?

It's more like...we're speaking through dance. And it looks like it wants me to come with it, doesn't it? I keep asking it to come back, but it keeps...waiting for me.

Oh I'm just outside of Goldenrod, the western end!

Yyyeaah, it really does. It does look like it likes you.

[GIVE HIM A MINUTE TO THINK. He's pretty sure that Rose is about to be abducted by an alien in an irony he's not fully aware of.]

Look, if you're gonna go following it no matter what, I might as well come along so you're not wandering after this thing on your own.

Then if something happens, you won't...I dunno, die or get pulled into a wormhole, and I'll get to say told you so.

I'm sure I'm not about to have anything like that happen!

But you're welcome to come along, we can wait for you.

[Or so Rose assumes, her new friend hasn't actually gone further than a few steps each time.]

[PSHH.]

[Honestly, he's never really stopped associating frequent kindness and empathy with inability or unwillingness to defend one's self. So clearly! She wouldn't! He makes a vague waving off gesture, but his expression does finally change to one of his normal smirks instead of the grouchy frown he's had on so far.]

Yeah, I'll be there, I'll be coming in from the air. Easier to find you that way, even if you move.

[He's going to hop on Carl, his quickest flier, and start making his way over. He is bringing Laelaps with him, although the Type: Null is safely away in their ball for now. It doesn't take long to spot Rose--she stands out!]

[He has Carl land a little farther away...not that it takes much convincing, since even the Aerodactyl seems uneasy landing too close to the Poipole. Carl shifts from foot to foot, staring straight at it as Envy dismounts.]

Hey! Found you!

[Rose is extremely easy to spot. Especially as she starts waving. holding her arm up as high as she can to make sure she catches Envy's attention.]

[It's almost funny, how worried he seems. But Rose isn't going to deny him coming along, if it makes him feel better. And the more hands to help with...whatever might be needed is always better.]

You did! It's still here...it just keeps doing the same thing, more insistently.

[As a low sort of hissing noise begins coming from Carl's mouth, Envy gives him a quick pat on the side and recalls him to his Pokeball--as suspicious as he is, Envy didn't come here to START a battle.]

[....but he's still ready.]

[And now it's his turn to squint at the dancing creature, able to get a much better look at this one than he did at the ones who were zipping all around the Game Corner the past week.]

So getting impatient, you think?

[He begins to slowly approach Rose, not ever taking his eyes off the Poipole for long.]

I'd say so!

[That sort of body language is very clear, as far as Rose is concerned. It wants them to follow, and it wants them to follow now.]

I wish we knew what it was it wanted...but maybe it can show us something to help figure that out!

[It obviously wants to communicate, is trying whatever it can to get its point across. How terrible that must be, to not be understood no matter how hard you tried... With an encouraging smile, Rose approaches the distraught Pokemon and gestures for it to lead on.]

I sure haven't.

Too busy trying not to get crushed or sliced to ribbons.

_{[But it goes without saying that Heather Mason leans more towards trying to fight monsters than trying to have a chat with them.]}

... But then again, those little purple guys don't look too dangerous.

Oh they won't try and hurt you if you're gentle and easy with them!

They like dancing.

I'm sure you're not that bad! And I don't think it has to be good, just...get a point across.

You say that now, but you'd change your tune after I accidentally convince them to destroy the world by doing the macarena just badly enough.

Or maybe you'll make a breakthrough with them!

MMMMM, not sure I like the odds of that!

I'll let everybody else try the dancing, and stick with the 'let my Null keep them all five hundred thousand feet away from me' strategy.

You never know until you try!

[Rose laughs brightly.]

But if you've found something that works, there's no reason not to stick with it.

Hwaaaahh!! You too? [Yes, there's a poipole visible on Carly's screen.] They're so cute, but they seem so young, like baby pokemon...

Do you think something happened to their mom??

[Carly............................]

They could be....or they could be very, very different and we don't understand them.

I'm not even sure if they have mothers.

S-Seriously!?

[she thought even aliens would have moms...]

Some of them have been less aggressive then the first two times.

You should follow it. But bring strong pokemon with you just in case it's trying to lead you into an ambush or something.

I think it's normal to lash out when frightened and confused and on a strange planet.

My friend Envy is coming to come with me and make sure nothing happens.

Maybe. It just seems strange that they were all acting like a non stop attack force and now we're getting small bursts of smaller and in some cases, less hostile groups.

Personally, I think we need more information about them in general.

[He'll save any judgement for whoever is opening the portals.]

Oh, that's a good plan. Teams of two work great.

Is it? Those ones were the first to come, weren't they? These ones now might have been told some of what to expect.

I agree! Hopefully we'll learn more...

If they're all working together towards something that might be it. Or they could be being controlled by an outside force. It's hard to say until we find out more about them, what they want. If they want anything.

I'd guess they want something, it's as if they're searching. Maybe they lost something here....

Or there's something in this world we have that they need.

Be careful following it! It could be like a fairy sort of situation--not fairy the type, fairies in Earth lore. They're mischievous types that lure humans into their domain.

[Not that fairies are real. Except in Europe.]

Oh I'm sure it will be fine! One of my friends is going to come with me, to be completely sure.

Just one? Is it a Psychic type? I think those little buggers are Poison.

[Rose bursts out laughing]

He's a human-type!

My Pokemon aren't very comfortable with our visitors.

[SHE JUST WALKED RIGHT INTO THAT ONE.]

Is your human type good at being positive at least? They don't seem to mind if you're not angry or scared around them.

I think so! He has a wonderful sense of humor.

But you're very right about that - if you approach them gently, they're very approachable!

I dunno, they still scare me a little, and I'm not one to just be scared of things.

[It's probably the fear and confusion that the beasts felt themselves she was feeling, being an unfortunately incredibly empathetic sort.]

I really want to help them with whatever they're looking for, though, doesn't it seem like they're intent on finding something?
