When: After Ford is released from Jenny Jail and Shiro stops tweaking his ears.

Summary: Ford's nephew has exited the realm. World sad, tiddy warm.

Rating: PG13, there will be cuddling but nothing spicy, but also I made a conjugal visit joke.

He was kind of hoping Ford's announcement about the museum would have been while he wasn't in jail for being a public nuisance - but beggars couldn't be choosers in this situation. Jack had done what he could to get things set up as Ford requested.

Thankfully, he was being released today. Whether someone had posted his bail or the Jennies had got annoyed enough at him was anyone's guess, let alone Jack's.

While he waited, he was working on potting some plant samples he'd started. Athena and Jolene were helping him, considering they had working hands - or ribbons, in Jo's case. He had the Lycanrocs inside too, Bandit and Harley sitting next to the chairs and watching them. Probably hoping for snacks.

They raised their heads when they heard the door open, getting up to wag tails excitedly. Jack didn't look up from the plant work.

"I'd say you could add public nuisance to the rap sheet, but I'd bet money it was already there." And after that teasing comment does he finally look up, dusting his hands off.

Annoying the Jennies until they let him go was definitely an option, but after a certain point Ford's heart just wasn't in it. He still hasn't told anyone else that Dipper's 'gear went offline mid-conversation, and that's mainly because he's still dealing with it himself. It isn't as though it's the first time. It isn't as though he won't be fine. But it's still got him feeling low.

"You'd win that bet. A full list of everything I've ever been arrested for would fill a book."

He walks over to Jack as Jack straightens up, slings an arm around his shoulders and pulls him into a sort of half-hug. It's maybe a little more affectionate than he tends to be right out the gate but he's feeling some kind of way right now.

Jack doesn't know about Dipper - while he keeps an eye out for the kid in general, he doesn't make a point of monitoring him closely. Still, he can tell that something is amiss. He's not sure what, of course, and he's not about to ask out the gate.

Instead, when Ford pulls him into a half hug, he rests a hand on the small of his back and tugs him in for a proper hug.

"Miss me? I didn't want to ask the Jennies about conjugal visits."

The joke is they haven't done anything like that.

It's kind of telling as to how much Ford would like to make this work that they haven't. Rushing would cause more problems than it would be worth when the both of them are working with so much baggage. Rushing would only cause them both to trip over the half-dozen matched suitcases littering the hallway of their budding relationship.

Not that Ford doesn't appreciate the joke right now. It gets a small laugh out of him, a good sign, as is the fact that he doesn't resist the full hug Jack drags him into.

"I wasn't in there long enough for that to be an option in the first place." It was just resisting arrest, for goodness sake. "But of course I missed you."

He's been away for longer, of course. Since the news broke about what was really going on with Aether and he left to kick Lusamine's ass. It's good to be home, and good to realize that he's put down enough roots in this house and with this man that it feels like home to begin with. It's nice to come back to his house and find a person he cares about re-potting plants in his living room.

"I see you've kept busy."

They have enough luggage to fill a plane, and then some. It needs to be unpacked at some point - some things together, many more things by themselves - but it's better to understand what they're both working with.

Between the beasts, Aether, and Lusamine, Jack's impressed Ford came out with just resisting arrest, and he would admit to it honestly. While both of them are generally restrained, there are some things you just don't mess with. He knows that Type: Null is one of Ford's particular buttons.

"Missed you too," Jack replies. Athena and Jolene both wave at Ford, still holding plants. Jack looks at them and snorts.

"Figured I could get a start on the seeds we've been germinating."
