Uh hey. It looks like I'm gonna be here for a while, so does anyone know where I can get my hands on a van? I'm gonna need somewhere to live once the weather gets better. I can't just crash on people's couches forever.
I mean, at first I was touring with my manager, Marty. Then when we, uh, parted ways after I met Rose, I wanted to live as close to her as I could, which meant parking my van on the beach by the Gem temple. And after Steven was born, all my money went to stuff for him.
Steven suggested I get a house when I finally got some royalties from Marty, but I dunno, I was so used to living in the van by then that I didn't really see why I should. I did get a new mattress for the back, though!
Sometimes they do! And sometimes when the manager you kicked out of your van needs to make a quick buck, he sells the tune he remembers to the burger guys and then years later he gets a court order that makes him actually pay you the money he owes you for it.
Arranged where we went, when we were playing, who was paying us. Stuff like that. He did a lot of the fiddly stuff so I could have more time to write and play music.

[She has heard jingles, especially here.]
I thought they'd have to write them themselves.

Someone had to make him give you your money? That's not very nice.

[She, being nine, is totally an expert.]
Do you still write music?
