009/video, sevii islands - Backdated to Fourth Wall

[The feed opens to a hotel room that seems to be covered in weird white stuff. Ray is looking at the camera concerned while holding some of them and - oh my god he has so many Snom in this hotel room.

Ray looks over his shoulder, seemingly nervous, as he cuddles his armful of Snom.]

H-hey everybody, have you seen these guys? I've done some research on them and apparently they're called "Snom", a bug Pokemon that lives off of snow to live. I know it's been pretty snowy here lately but I'm in Sevii Islands, and this snow's gotta melt here soon. I'm worried that once it does these little guys are going to start or melt from the hot weather.

[A Snom crawls on his shoulder and gently boops him on the cheek.]

I can't have them die on me! I've been hoarding them here for safety but I don't know how I'm gonna feed them all! So if anyone knows how to create a snow machine quickly so that these guys can eat, I would really like that.

[He looks away for a moment, and then awkwardly looks back at the camera.]

And... could you guys not tell Peter about this? He doesn't like bugs so I really don't want him to find out about this. Thanks.

[He did not lock this video away from Venkman.]

I don't know anything about making a snow machine.

[The very concept of such a machine is wonderous to him. Though now is not the time to focus on that.]

But how strict are they on only eating snow? Do you think they'd eat a close substitute like ice? Or ice shavings, at least?

[Sorry about your inevitably mini-fridge bill, Ray.]

At least it is good to know they can eat more than just snow.

I have pokemon with ice moves if you need any help taking care of them all. And there is an icy cave here on Island Four that might work for keeping them in after the snow melts. Though, if they are just an effect of this weekend, they might be gone again by the time the snow is.

Do you have a way to get them there?

[It probably isn't realistic to first catch them all in pokeballs and then release them. Lots of tiny tiny leashes?]

Oh nooo-

[That is so many adorable, doomed ice-bugs. Adoomable?]

Maybe one of the Marts nearby has- um. A sno-cone machine?

Just letting you know I can hear everything you're saying from the kitchen, so... I think you might want to limit your talk about this to text messages if you want to keep Pete out of the loop about it.

Yeah, but nothing gets him out of bed faster than Slimer jumping onto the covers. Speaking of, I /have/ been trying to scatter them off of his sheets so he can get his beauty sleep, but I don't know about keeping them hidden...

See... that's part of why I'm not too hot on the "hiding them in the hotel" idea. I think it'd be better in the long run if they got moved someplace that's /already/ snowy enough to sustain them, and not a closed-in space where half the residents aren't comfortable with a swarm of wild bugs crawling around the room.

[personal profile] yousayyes 2020-02-10 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like a plan! And hey, think of it this way: it'll be easier for Pete to handle ONE snom in his life instead of a whole colony. You know- Assuming that waking up to the sight of a bunch of the things packing the room doesn't turn him off the idea entirely. πŸ˜‰

...and now that you've settled on moving them out, you won't mind if I got started on "de-bugging" the mugs then, right?

Come on, Ray... Pete wouldn't think about leaving you for a /second/- you don't need to worry about that.

...and actually, /they're/ the ones getting attached to me. [This message is followed by a first-person photo of Winston's hand reaching into the cupboard- multiple snom are clinging to his arm, and even more are peeking their heads out of the drinkware.]

Look, uh, I ain't gonna say nothin' to him? But let me give you some advice.

When Connor was here, he was hell-bent on having bird pokemon despite knowing that I wasn't fond of them. It didn't matter how much it stressed me out. Imagine not liking birds and living with a cranky Swanna. It wasn't great.

You should be honest with him and make sure he knows his comfort comes first, but you'd like him to give you a chance because you've gotten attached.

...Those barely look like bugs anyway, if that's any consolation.

had company for the weekend, sorry for the delay

[personal profile] sociallychallenged 2020-02-10 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Come on, man. Look at it this way. If someone did something you didn't like, you made it obvious you didn't like it, then they did it again saying 'he got over it last time'? You'd feel pretty cranky about it.

Just, you know, talk to the guy about it at least.

They're kinda cute though, right. [Hank is not afraid of bugs. Not unless they get in his hair. That is not a place for bugs to be. Otherwise he's pretty fine with them.] Never heard of a jewel caterpillar.

Yeah, but what's more important to ya. The bugs or your buddy? Because everyone can fuckin' like Elvis and the Beatles but eventually you might be called on to say, 'Well this one's got priority.'

I don't mind bugs so long as they're not pests in my house, but yeah, I don't know all that much about 'em. What do these turn to?

Can any of your PokΓ©mon learn Hail? That would take care of all your snowy needs, though they'd have to cast it regularly, especially in such a warm climate.

Wonderful! With such an helpful source of hail on hand, they're unlikely to run out of food, even after winter ends.

[Ray's Snoms aren't the only ones who are enraptured. There's another one climbing up Cecil's chest, starring at the screen with obvious delight.]

...But do be careful not to slip on the ice. They do not look fast enough to dodge a falling human.

They're delightful! Discovering new species is always a pleasure... especially when the species in question have no intention of eating all of our spoons.

[The Snom nods solemnly at that. They'd never pick spoons over some tasty snow treats, right everyone?]

I can only hope they'll last beyond the weekend, this time.

[At least in RGB, Egon can be Spengler or Spengs; Venkman can, of course, be Venkman or Venkie; and even Winston is "Z" sometimes; but Ray can only be Ray. And god help him the moment he's not.]

i slept fine up until the moment i woke up with a bug chewing on my hair. thanks for asking.

you wanna explain why theres about five or six giant caterpillars in our bed?
neverstudied: (76)

[personal profile] neverstudied 2020-02-11 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
[There's absolutely no chance of Ray getting dumped, of course. If Venkman can put up with 3+ years of Slimer- not to mention Slimer Jr, and Ray and Egon's affinities for Pokemon Venkman finds personally disgusting- he can tolerate some bugs for the sake of, y'know, the man he's been in love with for over fifteen years.

This does not mean that he's gotta be happy about it.]

it does not.

im not even sure if pokemon can really die. this dimensions so goddamn weird about death anyway.

also what the hell are you planning on doing with all of them. because we're not keeping fifty caterpillars. dont even think about it

good. how soon can you get them outta here?

i would never. ive been waiting a decade and a half to marry your dumb ass do you really think this is what'd break me

[You know what that means, Ray? No consequences for anything! Be as stupid as you like.]

then hurry up and say goodbye we dont have all day

and dont push your luck.

[The answer is yes. But Ray really shouldn't try unless he likes the idea of Venkman physically moving out and living in another hotel for the rest of the month.]
