On your marks get set go
Who: Everybody
Where: Vermillion City
When: 22nd of February
Summary: Mingle log for the races!
Log:
It's a crisp, clear day out here in Vermillion City, and thank goodness because it is Race Day. Yes! It's that day we've all been looking forward to, and Vermillion City has outdone itself for the festivities.
The race track starts in one of the town squares, winding through a few of the wider streets before it's off and out into the fields and forests around the town. Audiences will be thickest here at the starting line (and eventual finish) but you might catch a few interested onlookers at other parts of the racetrack as well. Not that many though, because who wants to go and watch from a forest when you can be here in Vermillion City participating in all the revelries?
The part of the square that is not dedicated to the race is absolutely glutted with stalls and booths. It looks like everybody and anybody with half an entrepreneurial mind has turned out to try and make a few poke-bucks. There are the souvenir booths selling trinkets by the boxload -- anything from general Vermillion City magnets to Year of The Rattata figurines to Race memorabilia. If you want it, someone's got it!
There's also a slightly more official booth where characters can buy merchandise to cheer on their favourite racers. Every person that signs on to race will be receiving an official race number, and it just so happens that there are corresponding flags and shirts for all of those numbers. Come on, you don't want to make your buddy feel unsupported, right? Better buy that flag with their number on it.
And what would a festival be without food? Lots and lots of food. Seriously. It's a lot of food. No matter where you stand, you'll be but a stone's throw from a food stall or three, hawking tasty treats ranging from traditional dumplings and noodles to more modern-day cupcakes and hot dogs. And absolutely no one has forgotten about the Pokémon, because there are plenty of stalls also serving Pokémon-safe snacks.
Large speakers have been hung from various poles around the square, from which the race director will be giving people updates on the progress of the race as it winds its way along the countryside, so no worries. You might not be glued to events trackside, but you should still be able to know how your friends are doing out there.
So whether you're a racer, a supporter, or just someone who loves a party and came for the good food and tacky souvenirs, come and celebrate in the city of Vermillion City today!
(And stay the night. From the looks of it, the people of Vermillion City are ready to keep going for quite some time)
