Video Post
[The video feed opens on Rose and Greg trying to get both of themselves into the frame. Which is impressive, considering Rose’s size. Both look exceptionally happy. Rose pushes forward a little bit, eyes big and bright.]
Hello everyone!
[Greg ducks under her arm and then raises his own hand in greeting. His left hand, to be specific. There’s a ring there, on the ring finger, made of varnished and laquered wood.]
Hey! Rose and I have an announcement to make!
We’re-- well, we’re married now! [He laughs awkwardly, rubbing his neck.] I mean, we were kind of as good as before, since I more or less lived with her for years--well, sort of, we didn’t have a house or anything, I’ve actually never owned a house--well. Uh. Anyway. I asked her a couple weeks ago if she wanted to be Mrs Universe, but we were waiting for the rings to get finished.
[Rose is just beaming, eyes glistening as she holds back her sheer overwhelming joy.]
I’m Mrs. Universe!
[She can’t help but repeat it. Gems don’t have any concept of marriage, but she’s been among humans long enough to understand the concept and just what it means. They’re a pair, so close they share the same name now - like human families. It’s another thing she never imagined she’d ever experience, but here they were.]
Oh, here, get a close up…
[Rose moves her own left hand to take Greg’s and hold it out, to give a good look at the pair of matching rings. Both sport the same design, carefully carved into the wood. A curling vine of flowers that weaves in and around a scattering of stars and music notes.]
Aren’t they great? One of Rose’s pokemon made them! [Greg is still really impressed by this.] Anyway, uh, I figured since we’ve had a kid together and Rose is human now, more or less, and we’ve been given some more time together… well, why not?
[Rose just nods along, face nearly split with her wide grin. She’s practically vibrating, even her impressive size not enough to contain everything she’s feeling at sharing this with the world.]
I’ve never been anyone’s wife before! [Exclaimed with an air of awe giddy delight.] But I’m so very, very glad I get a chance to be Greg’s!
[And that’s all she can manage before her human body begins to betray her and her throat feels thick and there’s a prickle in the corner of her eyes.]
Aw, Rose… [He’s going to just hug her now.] Anyway! Uh, if you need to send mail to us, just address it to Mr and Mrs Universe now! Thanks!
... okay, you can turn the camera off now.

[Thankfully Armin had already found out about Greg and Steven, so he isn't too taken by surprise by this announcement. It is still a bit of a surprise, sure, but he's learning that befriending Rose just naturally comes with a lot of surprises.
And hey, at least they aren't the type to endlessly put it off, unlike some other people.]
I'd like to get you two a gift, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait until I get home again.

[Sort of.]
Thank you, Armin. That really is very kind of you.
We're going to get a wagon!
no subject
no subject
Oh, but some wagons can be boats, too! At least for a little while...
no subject
Plus, she is a little too big to manoeuvre down forest paths.
no subject
That is a problem! We're traveling with a caravan and we have to keep re-planning our routes!
no subject
[ It's not like he's got a storage unit here to put his stuff in, yet. ]
no subject
[It's nice to be able to acknowledge little moments like this.]
no subject
[He's touched. And also hoping it won't be big.]
no subject
[And her whole family at that. There's a pang of jealousy, because he despises the sinking feeling of being alone. But he's more happy for her than that little bit he's sad for himself.]
no subject
[No more confusion on that part!]
Oh you'll love Greg! Have you met him yet?
no subject
[The curiosity is great there.]
I think he's the guy that I recommended getting a wagon to. Seems like that'd be the best thing for both of you.
[They've got good wandering souls.]
no subject
Oh yes, we're getting a wagon! We never had a house, we had Greg's van. A wagon's like a van.

And yeah, I remember you!

[Sasha doesn't know a lot about this married business, what being a teenager still and all, but she's been to one wedding and that's enough for her to know there's on important thing about getting hitched:]
Did you have cake?
no subject
I think we had sandwiches....
no subject
You're supposed to have cake! They make cakes especially for people getting married. Mr. Shiro and Mr. Matt had one at their wedding. You got to buy a cake!
[Or make one. Get someone else to make one. Something. This is a crime against humanity and stomachs everywhere.]
no subject
But are cakes what humans have when they get married? We're going on a honeymoon, can we have a cake then?
no subject
[Like the people back home did, those old timey backwoods hicks.
Sasha frowns because what the heck is this lady talking about now?]
Why would you put honey on the moon? And humans?
[Well, this lady doesn't look human, but aside from the Alteans that she's met here, Sasha doesn't have a clue what else this woman can be but some weird shade of human.]
no subject
Oh and so is a honeymoon! It's a sort of vacation, but romantic!
no subject
[Answering a question with a question is probably another human tradition.]
So a honeymoon is only for people dating? Or married. Both? Why not just say vacation?
no subject
It's for people who just got married. I'm not really sure.... I've never been on one before.
no subject
[I'm sorry, Rose. Sasha's just intensely curious sometimes. Ready yourself for a million questions.]
Oh okay. Where are you going?
no subject
We're going to Mount Moon!
no subject
But your ears aren't pointy.
[Look, the only aliens she's ever met have weird ears, okay. Clearly that means they all should have them.]
What are you going to do there?
[SASHA, YOU CAN'T ASK WHAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DO ON THEIR HONEYMOON! THAT'S PRIVATE!]
no subject
Whatever it is people do on a honeymoon. But we've wanted to visit Mount Moon for months!
no subject
[All two aliens that she knows.]
Well, then bring a cake with you to Mount Moon!
no subject
That's a very good idea.
no subject
Any flavor? You should bring chocolate!
no subject
Oh chocolate's very good! And so is strawberry.
no subject
[Those fancy expensive rocks.]
Maybe chocolate and strawberry together!
no subject
With lots of frosting.
no subject
[Somehow this all makes sense now. How, who knows?]
And ice cream!
no subject
[Oh Rose likes this one, she doesn't ask difficult questions Rose doesn't want to answer!]
Oh, I'm not sure ice cream would make the trip...it's a few days of travel to get to the little inn we're staying at. But maybe they have ice cream there!
