shot 01 [ video / accidental ]
-- in' kidding me!
[[ hello and good morning to everyone! start your day off right with a very jostled and now crooked video showing off the back of a very ridiculously dressed young man as he falls directly back onto his star-spangled rear. there appears to be a mudbray on the other side of him, slightly blurry and out of focus. it looks a bit annoyed at whatever took place prior, but who can say what that was?
a very keen viewer could probably make out the town surrounding them: it's none other than new bark town! ]]
You stubborn mule! I'm just trying to check your damn shoes! Oh, wait -- [[ he turns, looking back at the recording pokegear with a look of palpable annoyance. ]] Did it break? Ugh, how the hell am I supposed to tell?
[[ he quickly crawls over to the gear, picking it up before studying it. for those prone to motion sickness, look away, because he absolutely did not turn it off before starting to spin and turn the device in his hands. it's almost like he doesn't know it's recording! isn't that embarrassing? it's hard to hear over the rustle of his hands, but there are sounds of thought coming from the guy as he goes about it. ]] Okay. I don't... think it is.
[[ the camera is now pointing in the vague direction of the mudbray, who puffs out a single snort. how quaint! ]] Yeah, I bet you have plenty to say after that. You ass.

He's surprised, there's no avoiding that. Things have only just gotten packed up for the start of another day of travel on the Cycling Road, but they aren't moving quite yet- which means Jonathan can pull out his 'gear and tap a button or two to find out who's buzzing through.
He likes to think he's getting better at using the thing in any case, and-] ...Ah...hello? [He offers, blinking. The camera angle is.........................a bit odd....]
Are you alright wherever you are?
VIDEO (Background of Jonathan's)
JoJo, just who are you talking to?
[That voice is fairly distinctive though, as a blond head shows up off to one side.]
no subject
hearing jonathan's voice, the camera jostles a bit. it's still not on his face at all, and moves around as johnny scans the area surrounding him. ]] Who's there? Hey, show yourself! [[ he isn't quite... sure where to look or where the voice is coming from. however, however, that quickly changes as soon as diego pipes up.
the hate grudge somehow pings something in johnny's head, telling him to zone in on the pokegear. the camera quickly moves up, showing a rather flattering angle of johnny's face and 90% of the underside of his chin. and then, a look of genuine shock, as he sees another moving face looking back at him. it's enough of a surprise to, at least for the moment, distract him from the fact he did just hear diego freakin' brando of all people. ]]
I -- Huh? What is this...?
no subject
Well he'll answer Diego first, pointing to the pokegear.] Someone's accidentally connected their device to mine I fear- I don't believe they've been told how to operate it...
[And speaking of the fellow on the other line, he doesn't appear to be in a good mood! At least he found the camera.] Oh! There they are!
Hello! [He'll just smile a bit warmly and try explaining things.] You've connected your pokegear to their 'network'; it's somewhat like a phone I suppose? There's far more to it, but the point is you managed to turn yours on. I am glad you successfully located it at least...
no subject
[Diego managed to move close to the other man, which shifts him nearly out of frame.]
I wonder who it may be.
[He returned in frame after a moment, trying to stretch taller to get a clear view.]
no subject
[[ as diego pipes up, his face goes white as a sheet. he knew he heard that voice, and now he's heard it again alongside seeing the top of that horrible little head. no doubt about it, that's none other than: ]] Diego?! What the fuck are you doing in there?!
[[ he's mad now, furious, and they can absolutely tell because his face is now comically close to the pokegear. ]]

They're just kinda like that, dude. Stubborn as shit, but they come 'round eventually. [She'd... probably know, but at least she's doing her best to not have the video moving too much.]
no subject
he looks more confused than annoyed, now. improvements...? ]] Did you -- Did you just talk to me?
A moving picture...? What the hell is going on?
no subject
Yeah, sure did just talk to you. You not used to the concept of video, I'm guessin'? [There's a bit of a snort out of frame and she's shifting to pat something from off screen.]
I know, I know, you're not a fan of this shit either, but we'll figure it out... [What is she even talking to.]
no subject
[[ he had heard of moving pictures, but those were so new and not widely circulated at his point in time. not to mention, he had been a little busy with the multi-year bout of depression, and then the race... his mind was elsewhere, to say the least.
but that's a different subject! his stare narrows, inspecting the video feed of her as closely as he can. owwie, his eyes! ]] Can you see me too, then? Is that how this thing works?
no subject
Yep. They're two-way unless you specifically make these things either text or voice. I can't really explain over these things, but the Pokemon centers should be able to tell ya more, or probably anyone in whatever city you're in.
[She's waving a hand like it's nothing and Ermes is just shifting to rest her muzzle on Jolyne's shoulder.]
By the way, this is what your stubborn ass gets to evolve into later. They're pretty chill.
no subject
he has heard one of these words, though: ]] Pokemon... The woman in the house said I was supposed to start a 'Pokemon journey'. Or somethin' like that... Didn't explain shit all after that, though. [[ huff, puff. ]] There are centers for them, too?
[[ and, backing up a little bit... ]] Wait, evolve? Wasn't expectin' a lesson on Darwinism. [[ johnny no ]]

[Maybe Ash should shoe his Bouffalant? He'll have to ask around if someone can do that.]
Your Pokégear doesn't seem broken, at least. That's good.
no subject
Seriously? Aren't folks worried about their hooves splitting? [[ mudbray doesn't seem too worried about it. ]] And -- Yeah, I guess this thing, uh... works? I'm having one hell of a time figuring it out, if I'm bein' honest.
no subject
[Which... is probably a concept he'll have to explain soon, is it.]
Consider yourself lucky. This thing's your best source of information and your most convenient means of communication around here. It's got games, too, if you're bored. It can be replaced if necessary, but not until you reach the next town over.
no subject
[[ right you are, ash! johnny has no idea what you're going on about. ]] All of this is a hell of a lot to expect a guy to swallow, y'know that, right? What kinda medicine do they have at these "centers" to make that possible? [[ on any other day before this, he could maybe chalk it up to a stand ability, but he's noticed that he can't even use his own here. ]]
no subject
[A beat, as he realises that this is not, perhaps, the most believable explanation, even if it is entirely true as far as he can tell.]
The local technology is... odd, you could say. They don't have space travel and transportation to other landmasses is nearly impossible to access, at least for us, but they can take enormous living creatures, stick them in balls small enough to fit in our palms, and let us teach them how to spit poison by breaking disks over their heads. Even the medicine they sell in stores can revive unconscious Pokémon, or cure things like burns and paralysis.
no subject
Oh, right, the balls. The red and white ones, I'm assumin'. Yeah, those seem, uh, pretty small. An animal can fit inside one of those? [[ he's just. rolling with the punches now. whatever, this is fine and totally believable. ]] Alright. Christ, this place is something else.
How long have you been here? You seem like you know plenty about the going ons.

What are you doing?

johnny looks at his own device, a little bewildered by the spectacle of instant video transmission. slowly, but surely, he's making sense of it. ]] Uh. Yelling at a... this. [[ he gestures to the mudbray, but doesn't quite get that law won't be able to see that because it's out of frame. ]]
Gotta look at the hooves, but the stubborn thing won't let me. Knocked me over. [[ pause. ]] It's stronger than it looks. [[ he promises! ]]
no subject
Why don't you leave it be?
[He believes you, his tiny ghost is stronger than he thought he could be too..]
no subject
I sure as hell am leavin' it be now, though. [[ there's a snort in the background. ]] I'm not about to get my ass laid out again. It doesn't want to seem to go anywhere, so maybe it'll come around eventually...?
no subject
[Law has seen like two horses in his entire life, excuse him.]
Maybe, because your pokémon is not a normal horse, it doesn't have normal hooves?

Unfortunately, it's going to take a little bit of time for your Pokemon to start trusting you, especially if it has a little bit of an attitude right off the bat. As long as you treat it with kindness and patience, it will grow to love you and start behaving more!
...Ideally!
[ IDEALLY. ]
no subject
... I probably spooked her a little bit, though. So, that's on me. [[ it's so much easier for him to forgive and empathize with an equine, go figure. he even looks a tad bit guilty, now that he's being retrospective. ]]
