VIDEO | Somewhere in Seafoam...
[When the video comes on, it's to quite a lot of ice. So much ice, really.
It appears the boys were unable to find the path outside the caves, to get through Seafoam- and under the impression that the cave was the only way to therefore reach the other half, have been taking the long route.
Whoops
Evidently the pair of them ganging up on anything that moves together has been working out despite level imbalances though, as in addition to the somewhat worn tent pegged up on the frosty ground there's a good number of pokemon not too distant from a roaring fire. Fire pokemon are Great, on that note.
...There also seems to be a small pile of eggs, which a growlithe is proudly nuzzling alongside a similarly pleased zebstrika. One would almost think they're THEIRS!uh oh]
Ahah. I think that's it then, [comes Jonathan's voice, before he starts speaking to...well whoever's listening really.] I apologize if this isn't filming properly, but these devices simply did not exist where I was from- I have done my best to adjust, but I cannot promise that I have mastered the functions just yet.
Assuming of course that this is working now... [He pauses, as if wondering if that ISN'T the case, but presses on.] I have something of a dilemma- these eggs recently appeared at the campsite, but I cannot determine just where from. I've certainly taken looks over the book in my knapsack, but to have such immediate appearances is simply bizarre.
[haha, bizarre. Haha-]
...As it is, while I have read many things in the books from the pack, surely a horse and a dog cannot breed..!
[oh hun]
[[OOC - There's nothing special about these blitzle eggs- and yes, they're all blitzle, I checked- so I didn't bother making an OOC post for them...but if people DO want to ICly chime in for one, go for it! There's six in total.
On a more important note; Diego will have a taggable prompt below, so that this joint post is easier for people to keep track of. For threads with Jonathan, tag the post- threads with Diego? Tag Diego.]]

Video with Diego
It appears to have worked JoJo.
[Focusing back on... well that’s not the camera but he’s close, so give him that much.]
I too am very interested regarding these eggs, as my dear Silver Bullet has taken quite an interest in them.
I am not half so convinced that two such seemingly incompatible creatures could create young, much less why they would be in eggs. They seem undersized for what Silver Bullet started out as...
Video
I know it sounds completely ridiculous but it is the truth.
Video
Alright, I believe you... I woke up in a strange home with some woman who definitely was not my mother, but claiming to be, and have been journeying with an electric Zebra. I have very little basis to support not believing you.
Is there a particular reason they work like this? Does this mean there are no true mammals among them? Or are they something completely outside that kind of typing?
Video
It's hard to say why they are like that. I guess that is just how life evolved here.
Video
It is quite interesting... this is an amazing world, an amazing place.
Video
And it is an amazing world. For various reasons, but the pokemon certainly are one of them. I think learning about them can be frustrating for people who keep trying to put them into categories they are already familiar with. But if you let go of that, and see them as something completely separate from other animals you know, there is so much to read about them.
[Though in Armin's case, the sense of freedom, the ability to go where he wants, do what he wants, and read and learn what he wants is unparalleled. And even if there are limitations on his movements to some degree, the yoke is very gentle. Still, one he is going to try and buck, but at least in this world, nobody will shoot him for trying.]
Video
That's it.
That's the reply.]
no subject
What...
[He looks so...confused...
so lost...]
video.
but, he's not in the same position! he's been stuck here for a week, almost two! and god, the weird things he's seen already have completely destroyed his ability to apply logic to the situations in front of him. and that says a lot, considering the ridiculous place he came from. so now, his internal reaction to every single wacky thing he sees in front of him is 'sure, why the fuck not'? this is no exception. ]] Yeah, usually they can't.
But, I just saw a sentient, moving set of keys the other day, so I figure 'usually' don't really apply here. [[ he grimaces, only a little bit, though. the keys were weird. ]]
no subject
I'm sorry, you encountered Keys?
no subject
[[ fuckin klefkis, how do they work??? ]] Haven't you and -- The both of you been here longer than me? You haven't seen them yet?
no subject
We encountered a pair of gears...
Somehow a ring of keys feels even more odd....
no subject
It was a little disturbing, to say the least. Tiny Dancer made short work of it, though. [[ good donkey. ]] Gears, though. Like the mechanical kind? [[ a short sigh as he stares out into the distance beyond the camera. ]]
Figures.
no subject
[He trails off, unsure where to really go from there.] Primarily however, I would say most things resemble creatures that can be called 'animal'.
...And...occasionally fantastical I suppose?
no subject
Anyway, back to the point: congrats on your weird eggs. Hope you find someone to take them off your hands, looks like a hell of a lot to carry around. [[ he's quiet for a moment, seeming to contemplate something during the silence. ]]
Also, we need to talk. About what happened, uh, last time. [[ aka when johnny first got here and immediately bullied the shit out of diego. fun times! ]] Maybe not now, I don't care, but -- Eventually.
no subject
[Ah- But he blinks, refocusing as Johnny speaks.] About-
Oh! Oh...If you wish to speak, then I shall be ready whenever that is the case. For a matter of such importance, I can certainly make time.
no subject
Alright. Uh, I'd rather it be just between us. I'm not telling you to leave [[ hnrrngg ]] Diego high and dry or anything like that, but just -- I'd want it to be a private conversation. One he can't listen in on, intentionally or not. That's all.
Whenever that can happen, let me know. I'd appreciate it.
no subject
[Which is more than what Johnny likely would. But hey.]
In the meantime, if there are other things you would wish to speak about, I would be glad to do so! There isn't much else to do whilst in this cave after all! [He and Diego should really look into those 'application' things.]
no subject
and while he has a decent set of arms on him, that still wouldn't be very far.
ah, right, the cave. they are indeed in a cave, aren't they? ]] Yeah, that does seem boring. At least you have someone to talk to. [[ even if it is diego. johnny can't help but feel a little... jealous? sad? that he doesn't have a travel partner. when you go from spending months with someone to losing them suddenly right before a journey like this is dropped in your lap... there's a sense of pain that johnny doesn't quite know how to articulate. ]]
Oh. Have Diego do some tricks on horseback. [[ something... positive? ]] I saw him do some wild stuff, once. Might help pass the time for you. [[ who knows if he can even do those tricks without scary monsters? in johnny's opinion though, it'd be just as entertaining if diego just. fell off the horse entirely. ]]
no subject
...
wait wh-] Ah...tricks?
I suspect any such things would be matters that Silver Bullet or Black Rose need to learn before he can even do such things, [Jonathan remarks, not at all realizing the gravity of the latter name.] He cares quite a lot for their welfare after all.
no subject
and yet, he can't, because his words stop in the middle of his throat when he hears that name. black rose. ]] Wait.
Wait, wai -- What did you just say? Black what? [[ he doesn't look angry. he looks confused, a deer in the headlights that also might ralph up its lunch at any second. why oh why must the past always jump up and smack him in the face the moment his guard is down? ]]
no subject
Something about her being rather beautiful? [He pauses, genuinely giving it some thought.] Ah- right, he stated she was specifically named for another mare! 'The most beautiful horse he had ever seen', he told me.
...Which I suppose makes sense, as she otherwise doesn't well look like a horse you would name 'black rose', being aflame!
no subject
[[ his voice is so shaky. he keeps trying to catching his breath and string a coherent thought together, but it's a short attempt before johnny ditches that idea. given the feed, it's hard to see, but jonathan might notice a peculiar glossiness in johnny's eyes as he hurriedly pushes through the next sentences: ]] I have to go. I can't deal with this, I just -- Bye.
[[ without waiting and without hesitation, johnny's feed is shut off. see ya, jonathan! johnny has no interest in you seeing him cry! ]]
no subject
[Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear there's definitely something-] Johnny, wai-
[...He's gone.
Jonathan is left to stare at the screen in silence, wondering just what occurred.
At the very least, it was undoubtedly something serious.]
Not really here
He didn't say anything, and aside from shifting in his seat, he showed no signs of paying any attention to the discussion.]
Video
Well, that's one of the weird things about Pokemon...they can all lay eggs, no matter what they look like. And no one's ever seen them actually do it, either, so how they can breed with each other is anyone's guess.
no subject
no subject
[She knows some of her own Pokemon would definitely object to being filmed when it comes to eggs.]
no subject
Video
[Need we mention the hot skitty on wailord action? No. No, we really shouldn't. The less said about that, the better.]
Let's see. Growlithe's egg group is [checking something.] field. And Blitzle's is field as well, so. uh. Congratulations?
no subject
God help him if he ever gets a wailord, but-]
They really are theirs!? But...
They simply appeared!
[HE DIDN'T THINK THE BOOK WAS SERIOUS WHEN IT SAID NO ONE KNOWS He thought that was just for the kids....]
no subject
[A pause. Pokemon are so weird.]
Honestly, when it comes to pokemon, I think it can be better to just... try and forget everything you know about the animals back in your own world and look at them only as pokemon. Not that that is easy exactly.
[It'll help keep your brain from breaking.]
And if it is any comfort, a few of the other otherworlders and I have tentatively come to the conclusion that pokemon probably don't actually have, well, physical intercourse. And the eggs aren't exactly eggs either.
no subject
[his nerd heart is being crushed :[]
More importantly if there is nothing physical occurring... ...And what are the eggs then?
[he's had many bizarre adventures, but here they are,]
no subject
[Though, perhaps, in some ways, Armin has a benefit there. Due to the very limited access he had to their own world, he's also pretty unfamiliar with a lot of animals that would've existed in it. Take wailords for example. Having never seen a whale, he's always been able to appreciate them for what they are without having any expectations based on knowledge from his own world.]
Well, I think it was either Mr Newt or Mr Pines who once theorised that it is probably less of a physical mating and more of a... combining of energies. Pokemon do seem to have a strange sort of energy, the same that allows them to evolve. So we thought that they might be able to combine that energy to create new pokemon. Which would explain why they would be able to breed even despite certain physical incompatibilities.
And the eggs would be... sort of a physical manifestation of that energy while the pokemon itself still develops. So, more like... a first evolutionary stage, but one that is similar in appearance in all pokemon. It would explain why all pokemon lay the same size eggs. And how pokemon many times bigger or smaller can hatch from them. It'd be similar to how a pokemon can grow several times in size when they evolve.
[he rubs the back of his neck for a moment.]
Of course, we could be completely wrong. It's just a theory. There isn't exactly any evidence for it.
no subject
[He sounds...crushed...
...
At least until that theory is presented.] A joining of energies...
Perhaps there is merit to that idea then. Each of the creatures here is capable of strange abilities that defy typical reasoning- they carry immense strength within, and that it could manifest and harmonize is far from an unreasonable theory.
I would even go so far as to say that, if this is the case, such a combination would be enhanced further from a strong bond between the two pokemon.
[He glances toward the zebstrika. ...And also Gyro the Furret.] They certainly do change their appearances quite immensely...
no subject
Which is why you should probably hatch every unknown egg you obtain outside. Uhm. Just in case.
[Don't be like those few people every year that are hurt by their new Onix hatching on their lap.]
no subject
Truthfully I have no idea what I can do with still more 'blitzle'- and I suspect that as much as it would pain Diego to admit as much, the same must be said for him...but if they do hatch before we can determine a solution for them, I shall keep this warning in mind.
no subject
no subject
Are you suggesting I sell these?
[Well it wouldn't be a bad idea...]
...I fear we may well have to do that simply to transport them... ...It won't harm them, this stasis?
no subject
And it won't. I really don't know how it works, but any pokemon or egg put in the computer is perfectly fine. They don't even seem to dislike it.
no subject
This may help with the concerns Diego and I have had for a steadier source of income, however...I shall have to compare the rates of those online, so as to make certain we are charging correctly.
no subject
[Armin has always given his eggs away, but that is because he makes a steady amount of money at his actual job, so breeding, for him, is just a side thing. He's much rather focus on spreading the Water Pokemon Gospel than making some money.]
I'm a registered breeder too, but I don't really sell eggs often enough to have any input on prices. Mr Pines often sells his eggs, so you could ask him. So does Cecil. Well, he only sells eggs once a year, but it's always a lot of them at once.
no subject
It seems I have some research to do. As it is, this was incredibly informative- thank you, Armin!
