[That is absolutely the backdrop of the cape of Cerulean City, Jolyne just leaning against her ever present Mudsdale who doesn't seem remotely bothered by this sort of thing while her swadloon is looking over her shoulder on top of said horse.
Jolyne's just smirking a little and flashing the boulder and cascade badges for a moment before putting them away again.]
All the leaders 'round these parts as simple to deal with as these guys were or am I just an anomaly? Also dunno why they've been givin' me weird looks for telling my Pokemon what to do. I know, there's actual names for this shit, but they get what I'm saying so does it really matter what I tell them in the end? [Telling your swadloon to tie a fucker up is not the correct way of doing things, Jolyne, but sure.]

[At Cecil's side, his Clefable applauds. Earning two badges is already a great accomplishment!]
Then, once you move on to Johto's Gyms, you'll have the option to challenge the regular or the elite teams. Those are made up of six Pokémon, all at the highest level possible. And of course, you have the option to try your hand against the Gyms some of us have founded. Those are usually not type-based, but may involed unusual challenges.

So basically I'm stuck on baby mode until I beat the shit out of these nerds here? Man, what a kill-joy. But I guess I'll keep steam rolling them until someone actually proves to be a problem.
[One day she'll eat crow, but that day sure as hell isn't today. But she has sort of figured out type matchups and how to abuse status lowering moves at this point. Which is dangerous.
For literally everyone else.]
... They let people here have gyms that aren't these losers? [STOP.]
Is it truly so surprising? This challenge is intended for ten-year-old children, after all. Besides, Blue and Clair are both far stronger than Brock or Falkner. They may surprise you.
[Or not.]
Once we've earned all sixteen badges and defeated the Elite Four at the Indigo Plateau, we earn the right to design and maintain Gyms of our own. Only eight of us can do so, as far as I know, but not everyone has chosen their theme yet.

She'll get over it eventually. Hopefully. Maybe. Once she sees what this weird pink thing can actually do to dragons later down the line.]
I guess? But it still seems you can steamroll this whole goddamned thing with the whole type advantage bullshit. Which makes it kinda. Moot. If you ask me.
[... Design and maintain gyms. Well, shit, she's a little intrigued.]
Got a ways to go on this whole thing, but fuck everyone else, I'm going to roll these bitches. [That's not how you motivate, but it's fine.]
[Wouldn't want the spoil all that Blue-related fun. Even if she'll likely 'only' deal with the regular team.]
It's a good goal to have, especially if you've been designated as a trainer upon arrival. For many years, upon earning sixteen badges, there were simply no other local opponents that could truly offer a challenge, but these days we have far more options. And if later you decide you'd rather not become a Gym leader after all, there's nothing forcing you to do so.
Video
Oh and you can get harder gym teams to fight if you get all the badges in one region.
Video
Doesn't stop her from groaning and rubbing at her face.]
So what you're saying is I'm stuck on baby mode for now? Boring.
Video
[She loves this place but it is very weird sometimes.]
Yeah, I mean you could try some of the gyms with lower level pokemon if you wanted. But you can't fight elite teams until you get the right badges first.

[He's been training his pokémon by telling them weird things , so.]

I think I might've sort of broke one of the trainers after telling Stone Free to tie a bitch up, so, you know. Babies.
Re: video
It's a very direct command, why would anyone find it weird?
