[The first thing visible is... burned pancakes? Yeah. Those are definitely on the charred side. And yet... somehow runny? And, uh, those almost look like blueberries, but not quite. From offscreen, Akane's voice can be heard,]

Connie's going to be fighting the Gym today, so I made her a special breakfast!

[Akane swings the camera around, revealing a Japanese girl in a warm sweater, with short hair so black it's almost blue. She smiles at the camera--and she's cute when she smiles.]

I hope she likes it!

[Connie jolts awake as soon as the smell of the triple airquotes pancakes wafts its way into her nostrils. She reaches for her swords instinctively, the odorous odor triggering her fight-or-flight instincts. Is something on fire? Is someone trying to poison her? Or-]

[Ah. It's Akane.]

[She emerges from her (shared) tent with no small amount of trepidation, eyeing the pancakes with something that looks like fear.]

Morning, Akane!

[At least her enthusiasm at seeing her good friend in the morning is genuine.]

They're blueberry pancakes! I picked the blueberries myself!

Akane, those aren't blueberries. [Connie gives Akane a patient smile.] They're Oran berries. Humans can technically eat them, but they're for Pokémon.

I'm still willing to try the actual pancake, though!

[Akane stares at the plate, frowning.] Are you sure they aren't blueberries?

[Because they look a lot like blueberries to her!]

[Connie takes a bite, and hoboy judging by the blood draining from her face those weren't blueberries.]

[Akane takes her own bite... and yeah, no, that's. Not a good expression on her either.]

... Connie? Since when did wax fruit grow on trees?
