Who: The Pines Family, Soos Ramirez, and YOU
Where: Cherrygrove City
When: August 31
Summary: Dipper and Mabel reunite with their Grunkle Ford as they celebrate their technical 14th birthday
Rating: Probably PG at the worst?
Log:
[Birthdays are important to some people. Especially when you've shared every single birthday with one other person for as long as you both can remember. That's why Soos has spent approximately all his remaining Pokédollars on a slightly-temporally-questionable party for Dipper and Mabel.]
[Set up on the beaches of Cherrygrove are a few cheap tables of food - sheet pizza and chips and trays of that salad nobody really likes, and Pecha Pit Cola, and later in the day, of course, a cake. More notable is the rented PokéPetting Zoo, featuring a large pen of rideable Skiddo, with smaller pens of Buneary, Tepig, Swinub, a few Seel, one Snorlax pulling double duty as a trampoline bean-bag chair, and, perhaps regrettably, a small swarm of Drifloon.]
[There haven't been invitations or anything, but the beach is hardly a private area, and the more the merrier, right?]

[Like the fact you can't surf on fish until you get Surf....]

[Hey, Dipper, you beat him to something. Time to share your knowledge because that sounds incredible.]
no subject
[And there's more.] And you have to teach Pokemon the move Surf before you can get on their backs to surf across water. Won't work otherwise.

[That really doesn't make any sense, but he feels like there must be some kind of internal logic at work.]

[It's awful. How are they supposed to get anywhere????]

[That's actually said with a lot of excitement. LET'S DO THIS]

From what I've been told it is entirely possible that we'll have years. I met a young lady who says she's been here for six.

[..... you mean Dipper could become an adult here and never have to worry about school? But.... HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO THE WHOLE AWKWARD TEEN THING IN HIGH SCHOOL]
no subject
Ah, Dipper. There are far worse universes to spend an extended vacation in.
no subject
True. It's not a world made of spaghetti where people eat each other. [DON'T TELL HIM THAT'S REAL IT'S AN EXAMPLE]
no subject
Precisely! Despite its odd physics it is I believe overall incredibly benign. It's very rare that a universe welcomes new arrivals with an entire backpack of supplies.

[Maybe she's insane?]
no subject
[It's probably some kind of metaphor.]

[How could she toss an adult?]
no subject
[Huh.]
All she did to me was insistently usher me out the door.

[Dipper may have annoyed her to the point of tossing him out.]
