Who: Armin Arlert Solus
Where: Goldenrod city, little Kalosian restaurant
When: On a day at noon
Summary: Solus and Armin meet up for some promised lunch so Solus can pontificate at length about stuff and things.
Rating: Gen, nothing spicy.
Log:

The restaurant is, if Armin is honest, a little fancier than he was expecting. Not Resort Gorgeous levels of fancy, but certainly fancy enough that he is suddenly feeling very relieved he chose to wear a button-down shirt (even if it is with short sleeves) rather than one of his (frequently water pokemon themed) t-shirts.

Not that they'd probably kick him out over a t-shirt, but he doesn't like standing out. And he doesn't want anything to get in the way of this meeting. Solus had agreed to meet with him over lunch to talk about the world he comes from, and that is not an opportunity Armin wants to miss out on. He isn't entirely sure yet what to make of the man -- he had treated Armin courteous enough so far and he certainly voiced what was in Armin's opinion the right attitude towards freedom of information, but there had been that one message to someone named Estinien that had made Armin raise a few eyebrows (two to be exact) -- and he's hoping that learning more about him and his world would help solidify his opinion.

Luckily Solus isn't hard to spot so it takes no time at all for Armin to find their table, both hands clutching the strap of his bag as he offers the other a smile. "Thanks again for meeting with me like this."

He is rather easy to spot, what with his distinctive look and manner of dress. Even dressed without his fur-trimmed bolero, he stands out in a crowd. Something that he does not seem to mind too much, because why else would he still take to his flamboyant and somewhat archaic style? Not that he does not plan to eventually assimilate with the fashion trends of these mortals to some extent, but...the man is nothing if not attached to his own tastes.

The restaurant is indeed a fancier one than what is truly necessary, but appearances matter in certain contexts, and he wasn't about to invite Armin to some crusty diner or something of that sort. Not when to the boy he's presented himself as an affable intellectual—when truly only the latter half of such description is honest. He is a man of taste and culture, so what better setting to speak of such intricacies of societies and theirs than this? None, he would claim.

As Armin approaches, Solus has in hand a small novella of some sort, which he snaps closed upon noticing the boy, stashing it away in a pocket inside his robe as he looks up at him with a kind smile, "'tis a great pleasure to do so, Armin. Pray, have a seat."

As he offers, he gestures toward the empty chair with a gloved hand, the golden arrows on his palms visible as he does so.

"I do so hope this establishment will suit your tastes. I realize I had picked it, but little had I thought to ask if it suits your preference."

Yes, pickiness is certainly a luxury, one he knows not all have access to. Regardless, he would prefer that the lad had something he enjoyed rather than being not opposed to. With a smile and a shake of his head, he dismisses the notion that Armin might deserve something lower than this.

"Nay, 'tis a fine occasion for such extravagance, and regardless of whether or not you are willing to settle for less, that does not mean you should." He says this all matter-of-fact, almost like he's affectionately lecturing him in a way, like an elder giving advice to a youth. Perhaps that's exactly what that is.

Should Armin attempt to pick up the tab, or even split it, he will be met with stubborn refusal. After all, what sort of treat would this be if the lad had to pay for it? Not one at all, by his measure.

"So pray, enjoy yourself. Do not worry yourself with aught more than the joy of indulging in fine food and enlightening conversation."
