does anyone know much about the red gyarados at the lake of rage? how long its been there, how its evading capture. tips for luring it out. any information about it would be appreciated.

[It's nice and peaceful out by the Lake of Rage. Perfect weather to go rent a canoe and go fishing with friends right? Not like anything could possibly go wrong on this nice summer day out on which Keith has, in no way, roped you into yet another pseudo-cryptid hunt.

Dressed in red swim trunks and a black T-shirt, Keith's in good spirits as he pushes the canoe down to the dock. ]

I've got a really good feeling about this.

[He'd cleared it with Sasha first - let her know he had to go up to the Lake of Rage for a bit. Otherwise chances were Keith would accidentally get in over his head. Keith's matured a lot, he's become the person Shiro always saw in him! No way to deny that. But...]

[He's also still very Keith about certain things. Like taking a canoe out against a potential Gyarados.]

We have a water type that can get us out of this, right? Just as a precaution?

Don't worry, Shiro, I've got Starlight and Moonbeam with me--a Dragonair and Milotic. They're both very capable swimmers.

[ Allura is a few paces behind, looking fashionable in a sun dress and wide-brimmed hat. Jewel the Tsareena walks along beside her in a matching hat

For her part, she wasn't roped in, exactly, but a day on the lake sounded pleasant ~~in spite of the cryptid hunt~~. ]

It's a beautiful day, at least! I've packed a picnic for us, as well.

Make that two of us.

[Okay, so Hunk can't decide which part of this he's feeling good about; the little detour to the lake or the potential red Gyarados shenanigans. A little of both, maybe? Seeing the others has put him in a noticeably better mood, if nothing else.

He's fallen into pace beside Allura and, at Shiro's inquiry, he digs around for a moment in a pocket and finally holds up a pokeball.]

I've got Sorbet.

[Because a second Gyarados is definitely what they need if things get messy.]

[ Eyyy, that's the spirit. He glances over his shoulder to give Allura and Hunk an appreciative grin. ]

And I've got Hunky and Buddy.

[ Which Buddy??? A mystery. ]

See, Shiro? Everything's gonna be fine. Worst thing that happens, maybe we get a little wet. That's all.

[ As soon as he's got the canoe floating on the water, he uses an oar to keep it close to the dock. He waves a hand, gesturing for the others to get on board. ]

Keith, half your team is "buddy".

[But it's said more resignedly than anything else.]

[A shake of his head, but he's going to get in the boat. What other choice is there.]

When you say "everything's going to be fine", I have to worry. It's instinct at this point.

I dare say we've bested our fair share of fearsome beasts before. If we run across anything unusual, we'll handle it.

[ Allura steps lightly down into the canoe once Shiro is seated, taking the spot next to him and playfully bumping his arm with her shoulder. ]

It will be an adventure!

Hunky and Buddy?

[There's no way he wasn't going to comment on that one. Sorry, Keith.]

Which Buddy is it?

[Maybe they're numbered or something. Hunk is probably the last person who should be criticizing naming schemes, though. And honestly, his excitement for the impending adventure trumps any need to poke at someone else's naming skills.]

[ Oh right. He hadn't actually told Hunk about his Golisopod. That's probably a little embarrassing now that he's thinking about it, woops. ]

Frog buddy. Greninja. And Hunky is... y'know. Hunky. She was a Whimpod when I caught her and she used to be scared of everything, so I named her after someone I know who grew out of that.

[ He laughs a bit sheepishly, then steps into the canoe himself after everyone has taken a seat. He grabs an oar for himself. then holds out a second ror either Shiro or Allura to take. Then grinning at Shiro:]

And hey, there are four of us and our teams against one Red Gyarados.

[He'll take that oar. Force of habit, maybe.]

All right. All right... It can't go too badly, four on one.

[He should really have brought his Electrode. Or even Europa. Maybe Green can handle it.]

We've had worse odds before.

That's the spirit! We'll be fine.

[ Jewel situates herself at Allura's side, resting a thin arm on the edge of the boat as they push off from the dock and strike out into open water. The lake looks calm, at least, and for a now the only sounds around them are the natural noises of wild pokemon, the slight breeze, and the water as it sloshes against the canoe. ]

If anyone gets thirsty, I've brought an extra canteen.

[ Then she turns her attention to Hunk. ]

So, have you caught anything new lately?

[Hunk had been prepared to give Keith a hard time about naming a pokemon after him, but then he had to go and say something like that. Instead, he smiles and shrugs it off.]

Ah man, that's nice. So she's the bravest one you've got, yea?

[He would've taken an oar if one of the others offered, but in the meantime he settles in for the ride.]

Yea, we got this.

[Allura's question has him nodding.]

I might've acquired a couple new buddies. I had a Yamper, but he evolved.

Hunky is pretty brave. Bet she wouldn't mind taking down a Red Gyarados on her own. I'll have to introduce you to her.

[ Later. When they're not paddling around in a canoe. The water is pretty calm today, just the occasional sight of Feebas and Magikarp leaping into the air and splashing back into the lake while they row. ]

Don't think I've ever seen a Yamper before.

[ But he's clearly a bit distracted, peering this and way and that for any signs of their shiny red buddy. ]

Anyone seeing anything?

I'd say I see weed but we're on a lake.

[Shiro. Shiro, that's not even remotely funny. No one thinks you're funny. Even if it's partly true, and he doesn't actually see anything but weeds floating around below.]

[It's actually kind of peaceful out here.]

But no. Just Magikarp, here.

Shiro, if you keep making that kind of joke, people are going to think you're a kelptomaniac.

But in all seriousness, I don't see anything either.

[ Since she isn't having to row, Allura leans on the side of the boat and dips her fingers into the cool water, making little ripples on the surface. ]

What if we sent our pokemon into the lake to flush out this shiny Gyarados? I could send Moonbeam in--I think she would be able to find it.
