[it's taken Karamatsu days to figure out how to use this PokéGear. but now that he knows, he's going to make sure everyone sees his face, up close and personal]

Hello, Karamatsu Girls and Boys. It is I, Karamatsu. I have finally arrived.

[he winks at the camera. please stop him]

Apparently, I have been spirited away to this new world. It is quite charming. I am looking forward to meeting all of you...

Though, I am worried about my new partner. She has been in her little ball, but it doesn't look like water is in there. Will she be alright?

Ahahaha! There he is! The man of the hour!

[Karamatsu whips off his sunglasses, pointing at the camera]

How are you, brother?

....Oh, you care now?

[He remarks, crossing his arms]

What changed your mind?

[hmmmmmmmmmm... Karamatsu drops his hand]

Osomatsu. I'm sorry.

[zenryokubatankyu]

.[He's surprised, but he looks far less aggressive now.]

You really did change your mind?

I mean...I guess it's okay. We are brothers, after all. What happened?

Did you just miss niichan?

[itaimatsu]

[after a moment, he nods. it's easier to say that, rather than saying he goofed. because he goofed, BIG TIME]

I did not believe you, and I should have. It was wrong... of me...

....Oh, so you found out I wasn't lying.

[He does remember getting a text about that...]

Well. You're forgiven, I guess. As long as you still don't wanna reject me entirely and know better this time!!! You shoulda just believed me in the first place. I'm reliable Osomatsu-niichan after all.

[no, he's not. but Karamatsu is already on thin ice here, so he's... going to be careful]

[can he be done with eating Murkrow now? maybe?]

[Maybe, but Ososmatsu is still smug.]

Okay, so what was it you needed help with?

Your fish is gonna be fine, by the way. I dunno how pokeballs do it, but they make it so she's gonna stay fine.

Are you gonna take my advice and try to get an actual team? Do you need help with that?

[Karamatsu will see a very pretty Japanese(-American) high school girl, dressed in an oversized button shirt with a buttefree print, with earrings shaped like metapods and long hair pulled into a high side ponytail with green paisley scrunchie. She waves at him.]

She'll be fine! I've got a fish too--there was the guy selling eggs and he was willing to take IOUs so I got a couple so that I could have practice egg-sitting before I find the Daycare. Well. Anyway. The point is that Mallory's doing pretty good outside the water. I think pokemon are just magic like that.

[ah! a girl is talking to him... amazing. Karamatsu looks relieved, as opposed to the bravado he was pulling out just a minute ago]

Ah, that is good. My partner is called a... Feebas, I think. She looks like a fish.

[a ragged fish...]

That's what Mallory is! So if Mallory's fine, then your fish will be fine too!

Mallory is a splendid name. How long has she been with you?

It's the name of one of the junior members of the baby-sitting club I was in back home! And she's been with me for almost a week now! I got here two weeks and a couple days ago and I sent off for my eggs before I even got to Cherrygrove. Mr Cecil sent them to me at the Pokecenter there. Then I had to carry my eggs in my bag for a week until they hatched.

[she's... saying words... he doesn't understand...!]

A-ahh... So you're a breeder, as well? The book I received mentioned eggs a lot.

That's what my stuff says I am. From what I can tell, it's a lot like being a pokemon babysitter... only, uh, sometimes there's eggs.

[Which. Is a little embarrassing when you think about how they got there. Her face might be distinctly flushed now.]

A babysitter! I never quite thought of it in that way, though I suppose you are correct! We should both work hard to care for the little ones, non?

[Well isn't this little narcissist just delightful? Needless to say, Solus is entertained. That, and the fact he's clearly a twin to Osomatsu makes this all the more interesting.

When he speaks, his voice is light and airy, with a small bit of nasally tone—and certainly a British accent.]

My, my, a popular one from whence you hail, I wager? [He doesn't. Not really, but what harm is fluffing an ego!] Indeed, we are fairly lucky to have such a charmer like yourself among us.

As for your creature, worry not. While those of aquatic persuasion certainly excel in their natural environment, they can survive well enough without it. Though, I am certain she would ever be in your debt if you kept an eye out for any lakes or ponds you come across.

[p-popular? charmer? in Karamatsu's own mind, maybe. the ego is completely inflated, despite the hint of surprise in Karamatsu eyes]

Hahahaaa...! Thank you for your kind words, sir! I shall not worry too much about the, er... little ball, then. As long as Mermaid is comfortable and happy, that is all that matters to me.

[Oh, he certainly catches that surprise in his eyes. All part of the plan!]

[He says with an ingratiating smile—but then he feigns surprise, as if he's forgotten something, before returning to that friendly smile, though there's an upward slant to his eyebrows.] Ah, where are my manners? I am Solus zos Galvus and—as previously stated—it is most assuredly a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

I cannot help but wonder, however, what manner of creature your Mermaid is. Mayhap I can offer further assistance if you were to show me?

[such a strange name! Karamatsu doesn't even know where to start with it. but he will try to remember this gentleman]

[he's smoldering? stop him! but then, at the next statement, Karamatsu pulls out the pokéball]

And Mermaid's, too, I'm certain!

[he gives the ball a quick kiss, then a toss and then sets the PokéGear down. the feed focuses on the Feebas that flops a little on the ground, but mostly she is lying there and not doing much. Karamatsu can be seen picking her up and putting her into a bucket filled with water. again, she doesn't do anything, but at least she isn't on land]

Mermaid! Say hello!

[he picks up the PokéGear once more and zooms in on the fish pokémon. she blinks one eye]

However, as Karamatsu...smolders at him, Solus merely looks positively receptive of the ridiculous expression. Why would he stop him? This is far too enjoyable and entertaining! The little kiss to the Pokéball is a nice touch, and he cannot help but let out an amused huff at the dramatics.

Yeah, he likes this one. The Feebas, however, certainly leaves a lot to be desired... Solus at least tries to keep that pleasant smile as he stares at her, uh, less than pleasant appearance.]

Well! I suppose it would stand to reason that I would not yet be familiar with all the creatures here. I certainly have not come across one of her like before. She's quite...[ugly] unique!

Nevertheless, 'tis wonderful to meet you, Mermaid.

[Most Pokémon understand human speech. He is not confident that this one does, however.]

[yes, feast your eyes on this hideous fish. though Karamatsu regards her fondly, even while she makes a bubble. that's about it from Mermaid the Feebas]

Do you have a, er... Not pet... Partner?

[he keeps forgetting "pokémon" is the word]

Indeed! I have several, but I have also been here for a few moons. 'Tis only natural to garner more--after all, such is the object of this world.

[Waving something offscreen to come closer, the movement a bit lazy and limp-wristed, soon a small black ghost with wary red eyes floats into view. Its little tail and arms holding onto the golden death mask in its possession as it looks at Karamatsu.]

This was my original partner--a Yamask. Though, I named him not, he had his own already: Nour.

[Who knows if Karamatsu will catch onto why that's a little ominous. But it's fine if he doesn't. After all, he doesn't seem the most...keen man he's ever met.]

[Karamatsu has never seen an animal of this manner before. it looks like a monster, kind of creepy. but also very cool]

How extraordinary! I did not realize there was such diversity between these creatures.
