[A person in mask, hood, and wearing a sling comes into view, backing up until he can sit on the ground in front of where he's set up his camera. It looks out into his tiny backyard city garden buzzing with cutieflies.]

Good afternoon, friends. So I have recently learned that there are alternate colorations for the creatures here. I would love to try my hand to see if I can get one. According to my book, I am looking for those in the mineral, amorphous, bug, fairy, and grass egg groups.

If you have a Pokémon with alternate coloration, I would very much be interested in bargaining with you to breed it.

Also I would speak to anyone with a Gloom.

Uh, no Gloom, but I've got my little buddy Rock Lobster now and he's an extra red Dwebble, and I've had Holy Diver for a while and he's a green Jellicent. Either of those work?

Oh yes, certainly. Both of them should do nicely if I might take them into my care for a short while.

[Cutieflies start to land on him one by one. There seem to be... nearly thirty in all by the end of it. ]

Is there aught you might like in return? I have a few goods that may be of interest.

I don't mind! Though, uh, we'll probably want to take Holy Diver back first. I still have to do one of the gyms to be allowed to Surf out of battle, but once I do, I was kinda thinking I'd ride around on him.

It's gonna be a while before that happen, though, so I don't mind letting you borrow him? Rock Lobster you can have as long as you need him.

Where are you anyway? I need to know where Rose and I should turn our caravan towards. And... what kind of goods are those?

Well, well! How generous, indeed. I live in Goldenrod, and I don't really travel, so I won't be hard to find if you need either of them back.

As for the goods, I heard through the vine that you might be interested in some small-batch homemade distillations. Steven's recipe... had room for improvement, I should say.

[He's confused for a second, because even though the guy he gets his weed from has the same given name as his son, he doesn't usually think of him by that name. But then realization kicks in and he chuckles.]

Oh! Uh, yeah, that would be great. That would be really great. Let me talk to Rose. I think we can get to Goldenrod fairly soon, actually.

Please do. I'm a little indisposed with my sprained wrist, so I would love to have a new project. I'm almost always home, so please do drop by.

[And then he forwards his address.]

Rose... She's been mentioned to me before, though I haven't met her. We happen to be the same height, oddly enough. I saw her on the beach several weeks ago, there is no mistaking it.

No, there isn't. [He sounds rather proud of this.] And, uh, I think I saw you too. Long white hair. Not, uh, much else on?

[Greg does have a marked preference for ladies, but it's not quite an exclusive preference. Hythlodaeus was... definitely head-turning, all those weeks ago at the beach. If only by height alone.]

So, uh, yeah. We'll definitely head up your way.

And sorry about your wrist, man. You gonna be okay?

That would have been me, yes. [And he doesn’t sound remotely ashamed. ]

Oh, certainly. A bit of bed rest and I should mend quickly enough.

When about might I expect you? I suppose I should allow my friend some warning.

Uh, we're about five days out from Goldenrod right now, so maybe six or seven days from now? That sounds about right. Give us time to find our new camping spot.

I have a shiny Metagross, as it happens, but you're not going to get many eggs out of that one without a Ditto. Might have better luck with my Azumarill, though.

[Not being a genderless lump of metal is an advantage.]

I know some breeders end up with shiny babies, but are the chances high enough to be worth aiming for?

It is quite good for me that such a thing will merely be an added bonus to the projects that I already have set in motion. I’ve no idea how likely it might be to acquire one with mutated pigmentation.

[ But that’s an interesting little tidbit. ]

Ah yes, I had forgotten about Ditto. Do you happen to know where I might acquire some?

And in any case, might I borrow your Azumarill?

It's too bad most of the breeders I knew are long gone. They would have had a better idea of the effort involved in your 'bonus'.

[Then again, discovering that might be part of the fun, for all he knows.]

I got mine around route 37. I'd offer its services, but frankly I'm not sure it would be interested enough to agree. I'll also have to confirm with Rilla first, but I think she'd be up to it.

I suppose I'll just have to take myself on a little field trip, then.

[ Oh it absolutely is. The sheer number of charts he plans on making is half the fun. ]

Most routes around Goldenrod should do, really. There's a delightful amount of Normal-types, around there, even if most are too common to interest most trainers.

[Or, well, there were when he last visited. Maybe he should go back, one of these days...]

My responsibilities are fairly minimal and flexible, so I can travel if needed... But I can provide quite wonderful hospitality if you come to my home. Are you far from Goldenrod?

I'm all the way in Pewter, but I have a train ticket and all the warp pads leading to Saffron unlocked. Might be more practical if I'm the one travelling.

Currently, I'm a part-time Pokémon Center employee and a collector of Normal-type Pokémon. Or a spaceship captain with no spaceship and a mobile suit pilot with no mobile suit. Take your pick!

Don't have any alternative colored ones, but if you just need breeding stock, I do have a few that fit the bill.

Or, well, I guess only in the grass egg groups now that I think about it. ~~Why the hell a fairy pokemon isn't in the fairy egg group, I'll never understand...~~

Oh yes, I certainly do need some stock. Bring any you might have that produce poison or sap. Which ones do you have?

Depends on your definition of poison, I guess. Orchen's got a few powders that change status or enrages, Yávien has sweet scent and aromatherapy...

I was going to add Tuilë but evidently she's just field despite being a deer that grows plants on her antlers.

A loose definition. Poisons are naught but chemicals in certain doses.

The "groups" that each belong to are baffling at best, but we all must make do, I suppose. I either case I would like to meet them all to take some notes.
