I. Final bored-ing call [Airport and flight, OTA]

Tyler is from the twenty-first century. Even if he hasn't exactly been on any international holidays himself, he's been on enough interstate ones that he knows the procedure for airports and the sheer boredom to expect from it.

It can't really be said that anyone feels truly at home in an airport, but Tyler certainly seems to be comfortable with it. Maybe it's just The Modern Experience, that he's so familiar with all the bustle and mayhem and panic of a couple hundred people trying to make sure they've got all their shit together that he doesn't blink twice to do anything about it himself. Or maybe being deaf is an advantage here, when he can, quite happily, ignore all of the noise and clamour and screaming children from other flights. So if you're looking for a beacon of calm in all of the airport madness, Tyler's your man.

Notably, he's also one of, if not the only Import who has a Pokemon still with him - and anyone who knows him will immediately understand why. Isis the Natu is, technically, a service Pokemon, and his trip through airport security wouldn't be half as easy without her. Even if the little bird looks unbelievably smug in her position of pride on Tyler's shoulder, looking at the complete lack of other Pokemon.

She looks notably less so to anyone who can see her from Tyler's self-consciously requested aisle seat when they're actually on the plane. While Tyler's content to settle down with a book and Lydia next to him for the entire trip, Isis keeps making short teleport hops from his shoulder to surrounding head rests, looking down at the person sitting there with a kind of baleful curiosity - and if not immediately indulged with something interesting, she's just as likely to teleport away the next second, back to Tyler.

II. Eterna-l list of things to do [Eterna City, OTA]

To be fully honest, Tyler doesn't see much of a difference between Eterna and, say, Ecruteak. It's all the same antiquated architecture and picturesque scenery of forests and looming, elegant mountains.

...look just because he doesn't care doesn't mean he can't not describe it prettily. And he's not great at holidays.

So, on the days he's not glued to Lydia's hip, or being made to relax with her in the expensive-ass Eterna City resort, he's mostly just. Around. The change of fashion scenery is nice, and he picks up a few new outfits in the local boutiques, as well as a TM or two to save for the future; and spends the better part of a couple of days in the museum, absorbing as much about the local history and mythology as he can stand. Who knows, maybe it'll be useful when he and the other Changelings go out and explore Eterna Forest later.

Isis seems far more curious about a lot of things than him, and it's not uncommon for the bird to pointedly jump, rather than teleport, from his shoulder and onto tables, park benches, or the ground to hop along and inspect other people. It's gotten a few curious laughs from the locals, who aren't quite as familiar with Natu, and Isis is adoring the attention - even if it leaves Tyler looking a bit awkward to the side for a short while at a time.

III. On a rock and roll [Underground, OTA]

He's not gonna lie, though: a large part of his interest was definitely in the idea of finding rare shit in the Underground. Tyler may present himself as a clean-cut, well-dressed bookish nerd for the most part - because it's true - but he's not afraid of hard work or getting dirty in the pursuit of something sufficiently interesting. His go-to sport is boxing.

Even then, initially he only plans on spending one day in the mines. But then it turns out to actually be really fun - he likes hands-on work, after so many years in his Durance spent taking the most passive back seat amongst his friends. So despite saying to Lydia that he only plans on going down once, to see what it's like, but the entire show of getting dirty and sweaty and coming out of it with something to show for it - on his first day, this turns out to be a Fossilised Fish and a Shiny Stone (which he's quick to take to a jeweller the very next day), he's too curious to see what else he gets to not try again.

He's down there some six more times, over the course of the entire holiday - he doesn't always have something to show for it, but he enjoys himself too much to care.

Instead of Isis, who on the first day showed remarkable contempt to being trapped in a mine all day (which. Tyler can't really fault her, for not wanting to be the canary in a dirt mine), Tyler has Gumby, his shiny Slowking, and the gem in her Shellder crown that lights up the immediate area like a torch in a rosy pink light, thanks to the Flash TM he bought earlier in the week. She's not his strongest, but theoretically that wasn't necessary anyway - and he has other Pokemon just in case. She's not quite as well-trained in the art of being an interpreter just yet, though, and when someone approaches them she tugs lightly on Tyler's dirty clothes to get his attention before he looks up.
