I believe there are only a handful of ferries in operation for that very reason...beyond that, and using warps, I would say that the greatest option for travel is ultimately by pokemon; a large one capable of seating a person will do wonders after all. And I don't necessarily mean a horse either! Why...Blake is a dog, and yet he's large enough to carry even myself!
