There's a bench just 'round that corner. Come on, I've got you.

[There's no protest from Shiro's end. He knows he should be handling this better. Or more logically. And he probably would have. If it weren't for the arm.]
[For his arm. Suddenly being real and whole again.]
[His Gengar appears, though, behind the bench, looking worried and gesturing them over with its stubby hands.]

[ She helps him sit down, just in case. When his Pokémon appears, she looks at it and whispers softly: ] He'll be okay.
[ The Doctor sits next to him with enough distance so as not to crowd him. She notices that he keeps looking at his hands-- perhaps the source of his distress.
Gently: ] Breathe.
[ She demonstrates by taking a deep breath and exhaling. Humans are mimics and will usually follow along. Hopefully it's the same with his species. ]

[But Shiro lets himself be guided. Be sat down. Be told to breathe. It's not an order in the tone, but the intent. He can handle that. He can follow an order.]
[And breathe.]
I'm sorry. This really caught me off guard.

He calms down faster than she expected, though she's not going to let him get up any time soon. ]
No need to apologize. Happens to everyone at one time or another.
What's wrong?
no subject
[It's definitely for the best.]
[He shakes his head, waggling his right hand at her.]
Would... you believe me if I said this used to be - it used to be metal.
no subject
'course I would! That explains quite a lot actually.
[ She leans forward, looking over his hand but not trying to touch it. ]
When you say metal, d'you mean a prosthetic?
no subject
Yeah. That's what I meant. It's... been that way for years now.
[And now he can feel the sun. The fabric of clothing. Everything.]

[ The Doctor holds her hand an inch or so above his, like she's trying to sense energy or something.
Without her usual equipment, she's having to go analog. ]

[Even Haunter looks a bit confused. Looking back and forth between its trainer and the stranger. It tries to explain - Gengar gengar! - but...]
No, Haunter, I don't think she's from around here.
no subject
Oh, no, I'm definitely not from here. Sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I'm the Doctor.

[He's still not used to handshakes with the right hand. So, automatically, he offers her his left.]
Shiro. Thank you, by the way. For helping.
