It's food.

[Kiri inspects it and then finally does a kind of peck-nibble. She apparently likes what she finds! It's gone shortly thereafter. She does her best to beam at Shiro with her beak, and says in a man's voice with a German(like) accent:]

This means we are friends.

[Then she's back to imitating Shiro.] And they're free!

[She can't find an obvious way to ask with her phrases, so Kiri goes back to the gear]

where is it in this town?

Hey, glad to hear it.

[As he digs around to see if there are any more snacks in his bag. Most of them are for pokemon (of course), but there's a package of dried fruit he offers out.]

They are, yep.

[Thankfully...]

Should be just down the road. It has a big red and white ball on the sign.

[She bounces up and down once at being offered more food, and gobbles it right up. The place to sleep sounds like it would be easy to find. But she'd be alone.

Kiri ends up taking half a step in the direction Shiro indicated, stopping, looking at Shiro, looking back toward where the Pokecenter should be, looking at Shiro again, and making an upset croaking croon to herself. She doesn't want to be alone, but the nice man doesn't really know her. Dare she ask?]

[Don't make that noise he's weak to small upset beings.]

... C'mon. I'll show you.

[Show her where it is. Maybe she'll recognize someone there, or figure out where her pokemon is.]

[Oh, she didn't have to ask. Kiri chirps and whistles in happiness and then holds out her feathery hand like a child seeking comfort in the physical presence of an adult might do]

[... why is he Like This. The others would absolutely murder him if he brought someone else back to the house.]

[But... taking them to a Pokemon center is perfectly normal.]

Okay. [He'll take that hand.] Not far. We'll probably see some pokemon, so don't worry about that.

[Kiri is just happy that she's not alone. Being alone is not safe. She tilts her head at the last part, confused. What is a Pokemon? So she parrots back with a slightly questioning tone, still mimicking Shiro's voice.]

See some Pokemon?

Yeah - one second. I can show you one of mine...

[He should have one of the smaller ones on him. He'd been training Nebula the Umbreon. She's nonthreatening. She looks like a pet, really.]

[So he uses his free hand to give her ball a toss - and in a flash of light, Nebula is standing before them on the path, trilling. Yellow circles glowing pleasantly.]

This is one of mine. Nebula.

[Kiri watches the whole process with bright eyes and happy chirps. She's not afraid at all. In fact she starts...purring? Not for long, but it's a better imitation of purring than most people can manage. Then something clearly occurs to her and she reaches into one of the folds of her clothes and pulls out her own red and white ball and tosses it, mimicking Shiro on gesture as well as voice.]

This is one of mine. Nebula.

[For all she knows that might be the words of the spell to make the magic glowing almost-kitty appear. She's briefly startled and then even more thrilled when a Chatot pops out instead.]

[Nebula's ears perk up. She even trots over to sniff at the Chatot, in a friendly pokemon hello. Hi new friend! Hello!]

[Shiro grins, too. It's always nice when Pokemon clearly want to get along.]

Chatot - that's a Chatot. Looks like that's your partner for a while.

[Chatot is more vocal about hers. Hello hello! And also more brief, because she has a trainer to meet!

Kiri, for her part, instantly imitates the Chatot's cries.]

Chatot! Cha~tot!

[She breaks into a chirping giggle, and claps her hands in glee. A new friend who's a very nice bird!]
