"Oh! Goodness you're entirely right...though I must confess I haven't much information on the exact workings of it. Hamon was the gathering of life energy- the energy of the sun itself. It concerned not only the flow of one's breath, but the flow of everything around- blood, water, anything alive and organic at all. That, at the very least, was how the hamon could affect a rock without harming the frog- and as well how it could heal! It brings life after all! ...Unfortunately I can't well explain precisely how beyond that."

Erina gave (as one might expect when faced with something not scientific at all) Jonathan a blank sort of look. "Well, I had wondered if it was something similar. After all, it only happened after I touched the ground. And quite suddenly, too."

She hummed softly as she returned with their breakfast for the morning (significantly more for Jonathan than herself, just by account of sheer bulk of her husband). "So I had thought maybe it was that, but. I... don't do such a thing. It must be a strange fluke."

"...What?" Hold on. "...You think you just used hamon? ...But that should typically be impossible for anyone here shouldn't it? ...For that matter, if you were to be using hamon now, why would it be that my own hasn't given so much as a spark?"

He sounds far more confused than upset- actually he's not upset at all. If Erina is using hamon, that's super neat!! That's really cool!! ...But also this is very confusing.

She is also confused by this. "Well, I... I don't know. I thought maybe you might have a better answer than I do. I'm fairly certain you can't pass that on," she makes a vague gesture to their bed, letting him fill in whatever gaps she can't.

Or won't. Their pokemon children might hear!

More importantly, "How do I make it... not... do this?"

"Well, presuming it truly is hamon," he begins, quietly agreeing that that is Not how achieving hamon works, if this is, indeed, that, "It's controlled through a regular pattern of breathing. I suppose that breathing much slower, or quicker, would suffice when it comes to throwing it off...or even simply having an imbalanced breathing pattern..."

"I'm not sure I can change something that instinctual, but I shall certainly try." Erina motioned to their plantlife. "And the warm sensation, is that something you feel all the time?"

Fairly certain now that their breakfast and tea were not going to be horribly upset (or burnt because of errant plant growth), Erina kept her eyes on that as she spoke. "Father would've had quite a time figuring this all out." Magic breathing or not, it was quite an odd sensation.

"I imagine he very much would- as a doctor I would only expect him to be curious about all the ways in which hamon functioned...the warmth is indeed part of it however- it's the power of the sun itself after all!"

The sun is far more than merely warm, Jonathan!

"Well, I suppose that explains why you were so warm after he punched you in the solar plexus." She still didn't understand how a shattered arm could simply heal from a jab to the ribs, but they hadn't known the baron long enough for him to explain it to her.

"Oh yes, because of the diaphragm... ...He didn't do a very good job of explaining the matter, come to think." Oh dear.
