"Yeah, well, you didn't get a whole lot of chance to do anything back then."
Al sounds just as defensive as Envy, but the tense line of his shoulders relaxes somewhat. He looks up at Envy, frowning, then sighs and leans against the doorframe.
That's more of a surprise than anything that's come out of Alphonse's mouth so far, and considering he just said he was going to give Envy a legitimate apology, that's saying something. Envy's back straightens, and for a moment he's actually, for once, lost for words.
But only for a moment. It is Envy, after all.
"I--alright."
He snorts, because he has to recover from that somehow, and snide humor is always a good recovery tactic. But at the same time...he doesn't go nearly as sarcastic as he could have, or would normally. This all feels bizarre and jarring, but it's happening.
It's...weird. This whole thing is weird, and it makes Al feel relieved and guilty and frustrated all at once. He glances up at Envy, and somehow manages to pull a smirk onto his face.
"I better not be, or else there's at least three people in this house that'll turn you into paste over it."
Good lord, this month has been an enlightening one regarding Al's housemates.
A short bark of a laugh actually escapes him before he can stop it.
"Oh, believe me, that's not something you need to tell me. I've known them a long time, remember?"
It's still not nearly as easygoing a reassurance as it was when he'd said as much to Henry. No matter how weird and unusual this whole interaction is, it's not going to get that weird.
Although, he's had just about as much of this bizarre scene as he can deal with for now. This day's gone all over the place already.
"That all?"
Apology has been given, received, and that's an out for both of them to flee.
He'll have a pots and pans CONCERT in the kitchen if he feels like it! ...okay not really, but only because he's a lot more worried about Lust getting annoyed with him than he is Al.
With Al leaving though, he's entirely happy to withdraw right back into his room and shut the door. WEIRD CONVERSATION, OFFICIALLY ESCAPED FROM. A weird conversation that's probably going to give him some things to think about in the middle of the night, whether he wants to or not.

"But...I trust her. And...I'll trust you. Alright?"
And between the two of them, that's saying a lot.

"Yeah, that's it. And try not to bang around the kitchen too much at butts in the morning."
He'd like to at least TRY to get some sleep tonight.
