Alright, so don't get me wrong here, I don't mind the partner I got here--

[ And with that, a Shinx pops into the frame, standing on Lance's shoulder and giving almost the same grin that Lance has. ]

He's great and all! I mean, blue lions are kinda my thing.

[ A pause like he made a brilliant joke. Insert laughtrack here. ]

But... what am I supposed to do next? I'm ready to be the best there ever was, believe you me, but... a hint would be nice.

Well, that depends on what you want to do with your new Pokemon! There's this book that you can go look and it explains all the thingajigs and a bunch of other stuff you're suppose to do!

See, I think it explains it right here! You're suppose to battle with other Pokemon and a whole bunch of super violent stuff in here that will make you wonder what you just read!

Blue lions specifically? Your starter is beautiful, what is it?

You're supposed to trek through tall grass, fighting everything in your path, battle little kids and make them cry when your majestic lion beats their rattatas, and befriend other Pokémon by beating them up. So mostly fight.

[ but he takes a moment to make a face at that explanation ] I don't think I want to make little kids cry.

Then you probably want to avoid all the trainers chilling on Route 29 and probably the rest of the routes. They don't really take no for an answer. Also, if they see you, they challenge you, so good luck avoiding them.

Oh, are you new? My name is John! Welcome to Pokémon land.

Anyways, what you need to do is start training your blue lion Pokémon up! Make him fight other Pokémons and maybe catch some, and then you can fight the gyms and get badges and stuff. If you look around I bet you could find a map or something. The first place you want to go is Violet City, where all the cool trainers get their first badges.

[ he nods at john's little explanation like it makes total sense ] So, these creatures just fight each other?

Well, they do other things too. If you get the right badges you can fly on them and swim with them and stuff. Also, you can basically treat them like big, super-powered pets.

[The bird Pokémon behind him grooms his hair a little bit as he talks, but John seems used to that.]

But I guess for the most part, yeah, they fight each other. Not enough to do any permanent damage, though! And you can always bring them to a Pokémon center to fix them right up again.
