Attack of the Cat Burglars, and Other Happenings

Who: Cassandra and open! Any comment format is fine

Where: Various locations around the Sevii Islands

When: Backdated to January

Summary: Cassandra deals with some great misfortune

Rating: E for Everyone?

I. Wandering the Sevii Islands

To say Cassandra's January hasn't been the best is perhaps an understatement. The Snorunts had not taken kindly to Blade's constant sparkling, and had made their displeasure known by cursing them harshly. (Which Cassandra had personally thought was unfair, since it's not as if the Silvally can stop sparkling, but while the people she'd asked about the Snorunts later, when it had become clear that this wasn't a random bit of happenstance, had told her a lot about Snorunts and luck-giving, not one of them had mentioned Snorunts caring about extenuating circumstances, and she supposes she can see why they wouldn't.)

And that's about as much as she wants to think about Snorunts anymore.

In Cassandra's case, misfortune had taken the form of three annoyingly persistent Meowths - one of each type, naturally - who'd done their level best to steal anything of hers that wasn't properly secured, and even some things that were. And Cassandra could have lived with that - although she wouldn't have been happy, because it's only here that she's even gotten to truly own anything beyond her assigned uniform and sword, and some of her most treasured possessions here are gifts from other people - except that the Meowths had kept going after Akane's things too, because Akane had been traveling with Cassandra and they wouldn't, or couldn't, distinguish between things Cassandra owned and things Akane did.

So Cassandra had done the only thing she could think of to remedy the situation: she'd given her most precious things to Akane and left, heading for the Sevii Islands in hopes of luring the Meowths away with her. And so far it's actually worked pretty well; the Meowths had stopped bothering Akane and followed her, and as long as she can keep to herself and not get too close to anyone else who might happen to be in the same general area she is, they stay focused on her. That's good.

She'd be lying if she said it wasn't lonely, though. Maybe she's gotten too used to being around people, she thinks. She can't even bring herself to call people on the PokeGear; she's never felt comfortable just calling people, and besides which, the Meowths keep stealing it.

So she wanders, along with her pokemon, including the pokemon she'd inherited from Willow. And the Meowths, an ever-present annoyance that her pokemon periodically manage to chase away but that never quite stay away for long. She can be spotted here and there around the Sevii Islands, if you happen to be around. Be careful if you approach her, though - the Meowths might decide your stuff is hers, and therefore theirs.

[OOC: People can try calling her on the PokeGear anyway; she'll answer if the Meowths haven't stolen it.]

II. The Abandoned Base

Eventually, she makes her way to the Abandoned Base. Naturally, she runs into the Midnight Lycanroc pack almost immediately. And that actually changes her fortunes a bit: she and her pokemon manage to impress them enough that they let them stay. They even act as a buffer of sorts between Cassandra and her team on one side and the Meowths on the other. She ends up spending the remainder of the month there, with a few of the Lycanroc even taking little Clara, the shiny Cubone she'd gotten from Arceus, under their collective... paws? and letting her train with them. She thinks Clara will probably be something of a terror in combat when she gets a little older and stronger. She's also got Blade with her, along with Willow's pokemon Lani, Sage, and Lythie, and Ursula, the Stufful she'd gotten from Scorpia; she figures now's as good a time as any to do some proper bonding with them (not that she hasn't been doing this already, but still).

Anyone who approaches her at the Abandoned Base will therefore find her much more relaxed, if somewhat perplexed by the Murkrow who keeps perching on her head and telling anyone who'll listen that "Cassandra is cute." She has no idea why Lythie keeps saying that.

III. The Abandoned Base - Addendum

Like most Murkrows, the wild Murkrows at the Abandoned Base are clever and a bit mischievous. But it's a little worrying when they start amassing on tree branches and watching people as they approach the Abandoned Base. Moreso when they start whispering to those hapless explorers. Especially when the word in question is "Run." And then they laugh, low and sinister cackling that builds and builds until they're practically screeching.

Exactly why they're doing this is a mystery. It can't possibly have anything to do with an extremely bored Lythie, who is an excellent mimic in her own right and who secretly finds the entire thing perfectly hilarious. Perish the thought.
